I was also thinking it using the GHB still theoretically means it will still work with the @maxvapor710 usb-c power adapter...

Now after some more thinking, I feel like we'll see a battery restock, and drop of HBC+new model in April. Seems too convenient for these to be separate releases.

Indeed, they’ve really worked out the heater (and heating assembly I assume by extension in which I can attest in my pre-order Ti unit). Of course my Hopper was in CO for a year so lots of milestones might’ve occurred during this time. Faster heat up time means drawing more power. I could be wrong but I’m wary.

I’m glad my Hopper is working well again and I’ve been using it daily since it’s return a few months ago. Again a testament to HL in working out the heater kinks, but the battery remains a chink in the armor. Perhaps more glaringly so with the fire (if it was the cause), using the same manufacturer, and mated with a more powerful heater. Maybe I’ll change my moniker to Doubting Thomas?

Now if I can sneak another draw from my Hopper while with family who don’t partake...

September 2019. Definitely not an astrological sign thing for September. But, I had gotten some stuff early in 2019 or late 2018 that had serious issues. The significance is a series of inferences: these represent the most updated hardware, and these bodies (heaters) outperform perfectly functioning 2016-2017 original Ti units.

So it's a significant upgrade in performance starting sometime on or before late 2019 using the same batteries... While at the same time somehow extending battery life. I say this is happening because old ghb2 battery charges are lasting longer in the new units compared to new batteries when the old units were new..

This gains further significance in the context of answering the question of "can @Hopper Labs deliver on more performance with same batteries?"

I would have thought that it would be impossible but it's pretty hard not to believe them because, that's literally exactly the same thing they just did with the latest improvements on the original device hardware.

If creating the original device and then drastically improving it counts as two miracles there's no reason to not expect a third miracle

Good to hear the China-tattooed batteries are working safely. I still have two inside a stainless steel pot covered in a bag of sand.. I want to try them but I keep picturing that guy with his face melting from Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Can't say you would definitely need it to survive now, but if you're staring down a giant wooden Badger then maybe that extra 15 watts of stopping power will be just the ticket?

In theory if the thing is even more energy efficient and reaches the temperature instantly then it's going to conserve battery life even more so you would need it for that reason

I say the newest version of the Hopper gets the credit. I only have old batteries and I get much longer life out of them with my dark grey Hopper than I did with any of my previous models.

I remember ordering six of the "safe" ghb2 batteries and thinking 'what the f***?' when they all just arrived loose together in a plastic bag. After all the precautions and safety prayers back with my Thermovape cera batteries, suddenly these blue batteries felt practically harmless. Clearly these guys were not worried about any safety issues with a battery that they would ship like this where they could seemingly short-circuit each other easily. that made me feel super confident putting this thing up to my face. I guess I'm just a contrary bastard but I like the fact that the batteries are proprietary. Otoh I dislike the uncertainty about whether the last batch caused the warehouse fire. So in that way they are a little bit too proprietary.. I'd like for them to give up their secrets a little bit more lmao so I can decide whether to trust them

Also don't tell anyone, but I left my Hopper on my magnetic charger for the entirety of the work day, the other day.

It seems like if the batteries are going to vent/kersplode, it's only going to happen when they're charging or being used. Seems like they should be basically inert while they're sitting doing nothing so the one question I really want to ask the sphinx is: was there batteries being charged unattended in the area where that fire started? But I would definitely understand how answering that question could be problematic in the context of landlord-tennant relationships lol

I can totally see myself charging the thing inside the stainless steel pot and then I can set up a pile of beach towels out in the yard, click on the pen and toss on to the towels then run inside and plug my ears. After a few cycles of that I should start to feel foolish enough that they'll be safe to use?

I still haven't heard about an external charger that I was supposed to get over a year ago. My hopper is still sitting in a random drawer with the accessories and a bunch of almost used up batteries because it's not working again. And now they have a brand new device, with still no info on the charger? I'm out. Going to try and get the money back for that vanished battery charger then support businesses who have some clue what they're doing. Good luck to everyone preordering, hope it's what you want and there aren't 30 more pages of "where is it?" in a few months, but it won't matter to me either way. See ya!

I don't think this will be the end of pre-sales. If intended rollout was Dec., apparently very little pre-order was planned - until the fire created a huge capital void.

I have such wildly mixed feelings about this whole New Hopper thing, won't even go much into it. Or, will I,

I'd prefer to keep supporting HL and the 5 hoppers I already own and would consider it a miracle if these were ever to all function at the same time. My average is maybe 2.

Hopper's lifetime warranty and pitch touted incremental design improvements and nary a thought about obsolescence, especially not being eclipsed by new model in same form factor. So far looking at the new one, I see evolution of the original; "brand new" is just akin to shiny object in this case. Of course we all hope it works super, etc.

I will wait to see developments and information. I'm glad collecting $ seems to still be an option for HL.

My guess (and the inference of @Hopper Labs) is that an upgrade program is in the offing, for owners of the Old Hopper. Maybe that will be my time, though I won't been keen on doing that as a pre-order. How's about swapping two old ones for one new?

It's been said and discussed, but needs to be said again: your one-of-a-kind magic heater in a 510 box mod device would rule the galaxy, at least for those who have no use for the form factor.

TAlthough I'm one of the dudes that voted long ago to just release the heating assembly as a 510 attachment during the midst of battery troubles.

I wanted to wait with an RMA until reports on repaired hoppers let hope for more and longer reliability and for a more acceptable waiting time. Your reports on the new heaters let hope for it but longtime experiences are still pending. Can't find the current waiting time for RMA at the GHL site. Does anyone know about?

A 65W Hopper sounds right up my alley. I missed out on a sub 250 reserve, which is probably a good thing. I don't really want to have another unit, I'd like to downsize if anything.

So I hope, given the battery is the same, that some kind of upgrade deal could be arranged.

I'd probably just upgrade my HT and sell my blue Ti, or upgrade the blue and keep it too.

I do wonder how hot a 65W draw would be from the pen end direct, or the PFE. Sounds roasty, and I think it'll be nice to keep a more tame unit for that kind of usage. Though it can just be dialled back..

Yeah the fire has thrown a spanner in the works for sure, not too sure what's going on on the RMA end, but given there's an April 2020 date on shipping these new design units, they might be aiming to have normal operations running by then. We'll just have to wait and see what unfolds.

It'd be nice if this new version just replaces the existing design, so RMAs would involve the upgrade and it becomes a simple case of a once off fix with a long lasting design thereafter. I'm sure they've learnt a lot from all this iterating and now with their in-house capabilities can finally launch a final version.

For me it was listed as a reservation cost so it was pretty clear it wasn't the total price of the device. it didn't seem very deceptive to me. As far as the 250 limit, it may have been that that's how many they have already mostly ready to go ( or that's how many @Hopper Labs has of some criticial component ) + they don't want to fail to deliver them on time to the early supporters while more components for the next 250 is shipped in and assembled? Pure speculation.

If they were greedy Liars they would definitely take as many reservations that they could get so I take it as a good sign either way lol

As far as 510 connection, id use it with my eleaf. Or try to lol. If they allowed it to connect to a 510 battery and then something goes wrong causing the metal cylinder to turn into shredded shrapnel exploded through your face I think they're worried that you or your survivors will sue them as well as the manufacturer of the 510 battery. /shrug

There's no liability waiver we could sign that's going to counterspell a crying mother on TV talking about how her son's US-made vape pen exploded.

I don't care what you guys choose to support or not support but if you do support Hopper labs after all this bullshit and fuckery, you don't have the right to complain in the future when more companies in this space follow similar questionable business and development models.

Hopper labs deserves to be out of business right now, not selling yet another vape when they haven't even proven that they can make the first one work properly without batteries exploding.
