I always get a light hit on first draw. Never been different for me. Always flavor. Second hit is usually when it rips for me.

To me, a lighter hit on the first draw is common to many, many vapes and to a large degree depends on how moist/dry is your flower.

I rather think that on the first draw, I'm just drying out the rest of the water content and getting the load ready for draw #2 and on.

Just a thought

Let me be more specific about the "ghost" draw that I experience.

I usually get lots of vapor on the first draw of a new chamber. This is true with all of my Hoppers. The "ghost" draw only happens occasionally. It is significantly cooler than normal, and produces almost no vapor. In fact it produces almost no flavor either. This is not the material drying out, and it is not normal. It is an anomaly that occurs every now and then, even with the same Hopper, the same strain, and even the same batch of the same strain. I could vape dozens of chambers with the same material and same Hopper, and maybe once out of those dozens of chambers will I experience the "ghost" draw on the first hit.

ohh boy... the rounds of angry/desperate/disgusted and so on users don't seem to stop... :D:whip:

FCers that are slightly irritated with users posting about their bad experiences and/or feedback should show extra tolerance since this is the place that we all light up our vapes and tell our stories... either good or bad ones..
Let's all show some understanding and embrace all stories... Let's also pray to mighty Sativa Lord for the shake of our hoppers to see them fully operating once again without rmas and shit... amen :peace: :leaf:

My story is not a good one either so I'll try not to be negative and pessimistic but... what I've been afraid of has finally come to happen... my unit will have to go in for full inspection, which nevertheless is not something that has to do with my use or sth.. it has to do with the fact that although they've sent me two replacement bodies, none has proved to be fully operational and I'm sure that the latest that got sent to me was a refurbished one and the other one could have been as well..... so although my backend works flawlessly they just want to have my unit fly an overseas journey so that they take a close look at it...

So when I sent them my short video with the latest issue, which was 'sparks' style lights coming off the mouthpiece rig, they suggested to send the hopper in, in full.... So I don't know if I should say F' them or not.. but I certainly don't enjoy all this so far with HL and I really don't know when I'll be holding a functional GH again in my hands.. it may be in several months..

What I'd advise those that don't have a good experience so far is to find another vape that can do the job for you and don't expect a lot from HL.. I know that this not what we should do but on the other hand what else is there to do from wait and hope for the company to get better and maybe deliver as it should at some point....

Happy Easter to all you guys'n'gals and may the herb keep you safe and high!!:cheers:

If you don’t mind how long ago did you purchase your hopper

@fogbank I too have experienced those ghost draws. They are rare but unmistakable. The defining characteristic is the lack of hot air and the hopper itself remaining much cooler than normal.

The first hit from a convection vape can often be light in terms of vapor but the air itself is still as warm as usual. When the hopper produces a ghost hit there is a noticeable lack of heat to the vapor stream. I have noticed similar performance on the very last hit before a battery died.

Don’t attack products or companies. You can post your opinion, and you can criticize, but posts written to offend are not allowed. Warning point given.
Just wanted to chime in & also say a wholehearted "fuck hopper labs", they absolutely don't deserve anyones business & money this is by far the worst, most incompetent & downright dishonest company I've ever dealt with. Anyone researching with intent to get one I'd suggest to stay far away from this bunch of lying scumbags & to those who say "unrivalled performance" blah blah I'd say try concentrate + terps in a box mod - better performance & more stealth too. So in conclusion, fuck the grasshoper, fuck my joke of a lifetime warranty & fuck hopper labs altogether I'm done. If any company can piss a bunch of stoners off this bad you just know they gotta be shockingly & outstandingly piss-poor. Stay far, far away folks!

This is fake news. Hopper does things no other vape does. The hopper is a dope gun.

You're fake news mate! & what the fuck is a dope gun? Like I said try concentrates + terps in a box mod blows the hopper out of the water (not that the hoppers that bad- when it's not off in rma-land for a year at a time that is).

Lol & it was worth the warning point to warn others about this shady company, whatevs my opinion stands

While I know many share the same sentiment around here, this post crosses the line and has earned you a warning point.

An e-nail with a sapphire dish has way better flavor than the Grasshopper. And the Volcano does a much better job at blowing bags.

You’re comparing apples and oranges. And exactly how does a box mod blow the hopper out of the water? Size? I don’t think so. Warranty? I doubt it. Ease of use? Not in my opinion.

Yes a box mod with concentrates will give bigger hits than a hopper with flowers. And my CF-710 will give a bigger hit than almost any box mod. Neither fact has much to do with the hopper at all.

Talking bout performance, flavour & stealth; the properties that people seem to tout when they say the hopper is irreplaceable.

Like you say simply way bigger hits- probly than the cf-710 aswell I'd say, as big a hit as ya want, literally dab-level. Consistently way better flavour also imo; try some fresh terpy rosin in a box mod & try tell me otherwise (also no deteriorating ABV taste, the flavour lasts the whole tank). And as far as stealth goes my box mod is tiny & therefore easily as portable as a hopper as far as pocketability etc & being un-noticable during non-use times, with the added advantage of being I'd say way more stealth when in use by not looking like your sucking on & blowing clouds out of a damn pen, nobody looks twice at a box mod while Ive had quite a few strange, awkward looks while using a hopper in public. Some more advantages I can think of are no reloading ie no having to carry a container around with herb in it & fumbling in crowdy, windy areas etc to reload, a security gaurd at a concert or pigs go through your pockets there's no worries at all, I'd call that more stealth. Also battery life- literally hundereds of hits on a battery without recharging compared to how many from a measly hopper battery? That means no carrying extra batteries ever. & as said with reloading it's also hundreds of hits from a tank before needing to reload compared to 5 or so from a hopper chamber. Oh & there's also reliability which I don't think I need to even go into Lol. Also the warranty point is moot if they take a year to repair it Lol.
Not trying to bash the hopper Ive already said my piece on that & I actually don't mind it as a device except for the reliability, it's the business practices & lying I can't tolerate, this is simply why I think a trate mod blows a hopper away, & all imo of course. The only disadvantage I see to the mod route is having to be a little more organized in making up a tank every few weeks, & learning to use the mod, both which are easy & easily worth the effort I think. Peace.

You can put extracts in the GH too, and get next level flavour.

Nothing is on the same level as the GH in the herb vaping scene. Especially in 510 format.

Vaping extract is a different thing altogether and has been around a long time. Portable herb vaping has always been miserable in some way.

It must be nice in legal areas where quality extracts can more easily be obtained

I ordered my third Hopper for the 420 sale and it arrived in a week. It's my first SS unit and I wonder why I didn't order one originally — SS machines more nicely than TI and the threading is much smoother. I fired it right up and the experience was superb. Considering the problems the company has had it's pretty amazing that they're still in business. But then you experience just how incredible this vape can be and you understand why people keep buying them. I'd stopped recommending Hoppers to people but, hoping they've put the worst behind them, I'm going to start talking it up again.

I've had two quasi-good things happen lately.
Our two Hoppers had both developed restricted draw, so I went through a process. Empty chamber, temp 5, let it just get super hot, multiple draws (vapor was happening, even with 'empty' chamber). I used a bubbler to be able to tolerate the heat. Went through a fully charged battery doing this, intermittently tapping Hopper against the table edge, and occasionally removing battery and then blasting air-in-a-can through every possible orifice and direction. After cooling, I tapped and blasted some more.
On the unit I spent more time with, the draw is much improved. Not quite like a new one, but certainly a more pleasurable experience. Second hopper was improved, but not as much.

The second nice thing has been a revisit to the 3d printed loading tool, the one from Israel. I have been more diligent following instructions about grind and load, and have used it without clogging it up for several days now. It just took a little more discipline, but I'm happy, it has been easy and fun to use!

What size grind are you use supposed to use with the grasshopper?

I tried for months : better performance maybe , very fast and stealthy for sure , very difficult and somehow leaking , but IMO not so healthy . Nothing is more healthy than flowers.

Medium to rough. My opinion is that fine grind or the kind of over-dry herb that's about to turn to dust should not be put in there at all. You can just put nugs in there, as far as that goes...

I've been saying for years now that dirt/clogging could very well be one of the major contributors to failure. Not just the tightening of the draw, but dirt on the temp sensor or some such thing. It may not only be a factor of dust from your load, it could be vapor that has condensed inside, over time building up. This is why (with some effort) I could get about 5 or 6 hits from an empty chamber, temp on 5.

I'm thinking it's good for the Hopper to run as hot as it does; it mostly has to self-clean.

There's no strict grinding requirements with the hopper.

I prefer a BCG fine grind for potency, coarse for flavour and medium for something inbetween.

You can put finger-ripped chunks in, or small buds, but it won't extract as fast.

The hopper really shines with strong, quality herb. As long as that's the starting point, you can't go wrong

my hopper is still going strong. Haven't had any trouble communicating with HL. Have no intention of bashing them just because there is a very vocal group of people that are angry. Which again begs the point, why are they here?

Anyways, I have been using a medium grind for mine, and I have a BCG on the way someday so I am sure I will find the perfect blend for the Hopper. The Hopper Bubbler that came in the 420 kit is absolutely wonderful. There is something different about it from my other bubblers. I think the long mouth piece, who knows. But it is already my favorite piece to use with the Hopper.

Anywho, things are going great and I am loving the device.

Also to anyone who thinks there are other mods that can do the same thing. 510 mods are annoying. I had them back in the early days of ecigs, and making coils and shit gets old real fast. I think people are facinated with them right now because they might not have experienced the early ecig days. But those things are a giant pile of steaming garbage. The 510 connector is a failure point that is just miserable every time it happens. The fiddling that they require isn't worth it. Also the concentrates point doesn't make a lot of sense since there are tons of us in illegal states that can't get concentrates. I have no interest in a giant box mod stuck in my pocket. Been there done that, have no interest in going back to those days.

Anyways, I don't really care for all the negative responses since they are just an angry minority. I think there are many silent people out there that love their hoppers and have nothing but good experiences.
