Discontinued The Grasshopper

I still wish Hopper Labs would release a 510 threaded version of their 3D printed spiral heater to run on any box mod, that way you could bypass all of their proprietary batteries and electronics systems.
Or just a bloody 18650 hopper with a heater that was threaded so you could screw it out yourself and replace it with their parts

And yeah well rearrange their whole warranty and business strategy

Literally the only thing keeping me from ordering a hopper right now is the fact that I know it will have to be sent in at some point and I don't want to deal with it. I'd absolutely love to have one again just don't feel like dealing with the hassle.
That was pretty much me, for months. In the meantime I've acquired an instantly heating vape (the Stick Brick Jr) because what pi$$ed me off most in my hopperless life was the fact I didn't have anything hitting even half as hard as the hopper does in just an instant. The crack-den thing about the torch is not great, but acceptable for a while. First time I was dealing with Hoppys moods I didn't have anything really comparable, so it was the "having to send a parcel overseas and wait for the return" thing as well as the "nothing gets me nearly as high in an instant" situation, and that was sort of too much for me. Also I trust the way I use it (exclusively on a water piece) I'll be having less trouble using the PFE than with the original front end. From the beginning I didn't have a great feeling about the much higher draw resistance caused by the diameter reduction of the front end. Like to much heat staying in the system, but thats a feeling only. This plus the some 10,000 units more experience made me reconsider. Keeping my fingers crossed though, I don't fully trust that bugger...

Sup guys, made a video on what I personally do to keep my Grasshopper running great for over a year. This is simply my opinion and my own experiences. Hope it helps some of you out!
Pretty much standard care for me and yes I am one of those people who that are just happy customers that expect it to die ones in a while

And damn you need to knock on a whole forest after 20 min brag about hopper survivability

I remember bragging over owning the longest surviving hopper 2 months ago .. it died a 2 weeks after that :tinfoil:

But my idea of its demise is that the heat sensor was already sticky from resin because using super dry powdery grind killed it in a single bowl :shit:

Hello Hopper enthusiast! I'm a long time reader, first time poster looking for some help. I have had to deal with 10 warranty request now in 6 months, mostly for the same issue. After a few days of getting a working hopper the performance just all of a sudden degrades rapidly for no apparent reason. To the point where the heat up time is a little longer and on temp 5 the abv is consistently still green. I was hoping someone knew of a fix the user can do? My new hopper lasted 4 days and I am getting fed up with dealing with it. Thanks for any help!

Check out the video @AJS posted two posts up

Its all the same stuff as I would tell a person to do but he has turned that into "educational video"

Thank you! I completely missed that video somehow. Unfortunately there is nothing in that video that I don't already do. I guess I'm looking for some magic bullet as to why my hoppers are a disaster and others can go over a year with a working one, I don't know if that magic bullet exists though.

Yeah I don't get how hoppers can be so different between users but pretty sure it's small compact design has pretty much everything to do with it

I’ve given up with my 2 for the time being! I’ve now had over 4 replacements of My Ti in a year and 2 of my S/S am just fed up and the cost of sending these back all the time from the UK is getting ridiculous with all the repeated failures. The last one lasted literally a day before crapping out.

I really do believe now that this vape is not yet suitable for retail. How can they be with what we see catalogued here on what seems a daily basis?

How did they even pass safety regs! These failures cannot continue or GH can only go one way and that is down.

I refuse to send parts back now when they request them and just get them to send me parts but still they fail within days. I despair!

I agree, it took them two months of going back and forth getting broken devices back for them to finnaly send me a working one....That lasted 4 days.....

Really debating getting one of these today since it's on sale in Canada. Us Canadians can now warranty our units in Canada so that is why I'm tempted. I've followed this thread fairly closely the last few weeks and it seems people are still having a lot of warranty claims despite hearing that reliability has improved. Are the warranty claims on older units or are the newer ones still experiencing a lot of claims too?

I've had to send my GH back twice. I've had my Gray TI since July 2016. It was fantastic for a while and then I started getting the blinking blue lights on the pulls and vapor production went way down.

From reading this board and others I figured the threading wasn't making a proper connection to pass the power from the battery to the heater. Sometimes if I unscrewed it screwed it back on the blue would stay solid on the pull and vapor would be huge. After awhile it didn't matter, just crappy wispy vapor at most.

I sent it back 6 months ago and it worked for a bit. I just sent it again last month and just got it back. They said it was a software malfunction and they replaced internal electronics of the body and also the herb chamber.

So i just got it back and nothing has really changed, it still flickers blue on the pull and I need multiple pulls to get vapor (my herb might not be dry enough). The vapor is no where near what it was and now it just an average device that gets hot and it's not reliable.

GHL said that they have new components now and that the flashing/flickering blue is normal on the pull and it should still produce vapor.

Does anyone have any experience similar to mine? I never had flashing blue on the pulls and the vapor is not what it was. I'm almost done with this vape even though I love it. I don't trust it and can't bring it out with me, which is the whole point of the Grasshopper - Easy quick discrete vaping.

I have had my Ti GH for a year and a half and it has worked perfectly up until lately when it has definitely cooled off. I can still get vapor, just not the thick vapor I was getting at 4.25 on the temp dial.

I tried blowing air in the intakes, no help, and cleaning the threads, no help.

I have just ordered four new batteries and will see if that resolves.

Otherwise, perhaps I'm looking at my first RMA.

Cheers all.

My experience is exactly like that. Just with faster degradation and more warranty issues.

What do you mean by "can now warranty our units in Canada"? Does this mean that we don't have to send the vape to the US to get it fixed?

My hopper is back and I am rocking the long wooden 510 drip tip and I feel like this vape is finally complete ... maybe :ko:

Otherwise the tip costed 5 bucks with ZERO heat on lips instead of metal tip, it even somehow cools the vape a bit

Been using it for 24 hours and been great!!

Just got my hopper back from my umpteenth warranty repair (vapefiend uk). Looks like I got a whole new unit! Got to say it is performing better than ever. Love this vape and still can’t find anything else that performs to this standard. I have two SS models as I couldn’t stand to be without it during the inevitable repairs. Maybe this is the one? Have the silicone condoms for the standard mouthpiece been permanently discontinued?

Has anyone seen one of the new leather sleeves yet? I guess that if they were 'in stock' the website would announce that, but that's not the case. I just looked at availability for them.

I've been 'owed' one for well over a year, and most of us know the story by now. The recent pre-order series was projected with a definitive date to begin shipping -- that was to be Nov. 11, 2017 (a wait period of several months). Now that date has changed to Nov. 25th. (Curiously, this is exactly 2 weeks' change, a la The Money Pit)

Isn't this bordering on the absurd? We've noted before that this is not cutting edge tech, it's a fucking leather sleeve. Once again, HL has taken a chunk of money IN ADVANCE and failed to meet their own deadline. Given this track record, I can't see why we should expect the new charger or case to be 'on time', either.

That's great news that they gave you a new unit. How many times did you send it in? Does your new one flash blue when you are pulling?

All mine have flashed blue but noticed the new ones do it more

But my new also hits harder now on lower temp and the battery last wayyyy longer

Think my last two underperformed and ate battery compared to this one

HL took a little longer to sort out warranty this time around, but both of mine are cleared for entry now, just have to send the bodies and back-ends as I requested.

I noticed their 'expect a reply' period has increased from 3-5 days to 3-7 business days. So a couple of days of extra waiting was required. Over the holiday period that's still good enough for me.

Might get them back in time for Christmas, never know. Keen to get them back whenever... Moments like these I'm always considering selling a unit and getting a Milaana or Splinter, but usually when the hoppers come back that idea's quickly pushed aside. We'll see what happens this time round.

Ed's TNT has made a couple of GH PFE extenders, I think it's a good way to go. Stylish and functional..
