Discontinued The Grasshopper

I got the new body back from gh for my ti hopper. It seems to heat up much slower, almost 10 seconds to lvl 5.
And for the grasshopper thst is slow. The other ti I have works great. Seems to have higher heat. I can get a chocolate brown abv with it and brown with the other. Comparing the Two piles it's very obvious the other ti has better extraction. Debating if I should send the first one back.

try to swap the backend of the good Ti with the other TI, I have a broken TI model waiting to
be sent back and I have just recieved a SS model from verdampftnochmal wich has a badly alligned
backend. The SS works great but it has a bad backend, I had to put it back together once already (have it a few days now) When I use the SS with it's backend, it heats up slower and not so hot, but when I switch out with my TI backend, I get much better results.
Also, I think there are two different softwares, when I plug in the TI, it flashes once every few seconds, the SS flashes twice fast for the first time, as to say "charging starts" and then goes to flashing every few seconds.

but I hAve two ti's..could there be different software even between the same model ? I'd rather not have to switch out back ends..guess it's back to the lab for ya laddy..

With all this feedback about units failing out of the box, multiple replacement units failing, batteries off-gassing,... Is anyone else considering cancelling their order?, These are major issues imo, especially if you have to pay to ship back a unit that's unusable out of box. Thoughts?
It passed @Averyminya 's "oh my god ... ... wow" test, plus it has a lifetime warranty so I'm going to continue eagerly awaiting my late July pre-order.
Paying to ship it back is a pain, but so is cleaning and buying replacement parts for other vaporisers. I'm considering buying another so I have one to keep in any potential downtime or if I lost a unit. We'll see.

No, but it has stopped me placing one. When I first heard about the GH I was so excited, it sounded awesome, and promised to deliver a product that would give many of us that portable 'instant hit' we would very much like to own.

Alas every time I stick my head in to see how things are going, I hear more bad press about GHL.

It's looking more and more like a case study on how not to go about bringing a new vape to market via crowd funding!

Is the GH nothing more than a pipe dream?

I canceled my order almost a month ago. I asked for a definite shipping timeframe or a refund. They immediately gave me a refund. I think I made the right decision, but once pre-orders start actually getting filled I'm going to order one then. I just can't afford to give an interest free loan to GHL till then.

Personally I'm still of the opinion that the failures are only a fraction of the actual units shipped. Perhaps I will pay for my optimism later, but we shall see.

I'm with you there - since I got mine, I've been less prone to keep coming back to talk about it. It just works. You're really only hearing the negatives because people like to vent frustration. We're definitely treated as beta testers, and I plan to use mine daily and hard. If it breaks, it's another specimen for GHL to figure out where to improve.

OMG Dude that was some wicked shit..... a bit on the wasteful side but all in the name of science I...:science:

This heating system is nothing short of amazing...... thank you so much for that awesome video....

I believe you are getting higher..... I would even go so far as to say you are not only getting as high as you used to when you smoked {assuming that you did} hell it might be just a tad higher your lungs are NOT having to separate yummy goodness vapor from nasty ugh smoke.... so that makes the world of difference... just not certain it would be detectable.... perhaps so though.... what are your thoughts.... getting as high or possibly higher?

We hear about maybe one bad unit a day. Probably less than that. How many units do you think they ship each day? I'd wager more than ten, probably more than twenty. We're mostly only hearing about the bad ones. It makes the situation seem worse than it actually is.

Failures in any new product are expected. As long as they're actively fixing these failures, which they are, I feel comfortable keeping my preorder.

All things considered the grasshopper was pretty cheap for what you get.

Just for some more positivity:
My GH works since end of October after 2 failing backends. The third gets a little bit hot sometimes but that's not a big problem. And I can send it back later when they fixed all problems.
And... This thing rocks. I didn't touch any other vape for a month now and I miss nothing. The GH is all I need and I'm a everyday (1,5 - 3 loads) user.

It is my pleasure to deliver.

I put .03 g of wax, rolled it in some keif, and then used the last of my herb to cover both sides of the screens. For what it's worth, I generally don't use that much at once. I was saving it for my replacement Hopper so y'all could see. This was just one video of that little session, beforehand I hit it once on temp 4.2 as well, but that one needs some editing. And then I took one more on 5 after the video posted, which got about half the amount of visible vapor.

When I left it on, I was expecting to continue the hit... but it really got to me so I have up!

I stopped combusting only a few months ago and have only done so a couple times since. I backed the Grasshopper in 2013, making that my first vaporizer and it was the one I decided to stop smoking with. Well fast forward 2 years to August 2015 I still don't have the Hopper, but I'm starting to get some VAS. I'm young, I feel the effects of what smoking has done to me over the last 3-5 years (Power hitting :( ). To tide me over, and get used to vaping, I bought an FMV5.0S. I used that to switch, so *technically* it's my first used and owned vaporizer... as opposed to "used" or "own" haha. Back to the answer,

I would say that with the Grasshopper, I am getting higher than I did when combusting. I can't quite say the same for the FM, as that is a little too different of a feeling. I can almost say the Air get's me higher, but it's still too inconsistent for me. It's getting better though, as I learn it more. It's also too drawn out to really be able to give me that effect, even with herb, wax, and keif like I did with the Grasshopper. I think the big difference is the way it's being heated. The Air needs to heatsoak, heater can be destabilized which asks for softer draws, and of course, it's a session vaporizer.

As most of you know, the Grasshopper requires a slightly stronger draw (one that would destabilize the Air's heater), doesn't *really* need to heatsoak (however you can see that sometimes vapor production isn't instant), and of course, is not a session vaporizer lol.

If you ever used to smoke, did you ever take a nice big rip, hold it for a little and exhale and it felt like your soul was leaving your body? And then you just kind of curl over and go.. "mmmmmmmmssssttttonnnnedddddd" for a half hour or so? :ko:

I do that in the video.

The comparison for the Air and Grasshopper is coming soon still, I just need to restock so it'll be a few days. I'll probably to the FM too because why not xP

On a side note: I received an AWS-100 yesterday as well. Those who have it, are people able to fit .3? I may be misunderstanding weights. I put on a joint paper (0.06), tared it, and put on 0.15 g of herb. I was barely able to fit all of it in there, and it was quite a bit. It went the the suggested SDSD with my Space Case so it was very dry and well ground. Still larger pieces that the screen of the Grasshopper. After putting on half of the paper I had to stir and tamp it down to get it in. I definitely would not have been able to hit it had I kept it all in there. So, I'm curious about that. For me .15g is max capacity and and even then... that's pushing it in terms of what you'll be getting out of it. Less is more in general for this thing.

*Phew*

More to come after this week. Wish me luck on my 4 essay final and scientific presentation on population decline in Japan! Hopefully wishes become time

The technology is certainly there....this vape puts out clouds equal in volume to my evo. And that is about the best compliment a pen style convection vape can get imo.and of course the flavor isn't the best st 5 but it's still pretty tasty. And at 3 or lower ?my taste buds go ahhhhhhhh 100x a second.
What's really unfortunate to me is I'm no a backer amd never paid that company a dime directl . Got both my hoppers secondhand.
Please step it up GHlabs!!! Everyone needs to experience the true power of the grasshopper.

gooodnews:-) seven days ago, i recieved a new backend, the first one fell apart after 24 hours/8-10 times of use, but when i recieved the new back-end, there was still a problem with my hopper, it overheated, burned the herbs and started to make funny lightshows (the new backend did not get hot, i think the problem was the hopper-body) , i only had the replacement for maybe half an hour/one try,,,,was kind of not happy... so i filled out another warranty request and also told ghl, in my request, that i was a little nervous about this, that i am from europe, it will cost me again to send the piece back etc,,,,after a short time i recieved a mail saying that they will take care of my problem and that they will contact me again for the next step,,,,now 7 days after this info mail, i did not get information about further steps...instead....i got a shipping confirmation for a new hopper-body!!!
they did not ask me to ship the hopper-body back to them ! big thumbs up to ghl! this is real customer service! ! !
waiting two years and then recieving a broken hopper did not make me happy,,,,,,
but at least they stand behind their word! hopefully with the new body all this will be history.......
the 8-10 times i have used the hopper, were like a revelation,,,:-)

Well, as another UK customer, this comes as something of a relief.
I've been on the cusp of refunding my pre-order on several occasions now.
My main concern was/is that if the GH that I receive turns out to be DOA or unreliable (regardless of whether this is a rare or common occurrence for GH labs), the potential extra cost of shipping would effectively raise the price which I had paid for the Hopper, maybe even to a level where I'd regret buying it?
There's also a certain amount of discomfort shipping a used device of this nature, after all we don't really want to be dousing our faulty units in ISO prior to shipping do we? (I don't anyway)

If GHL have reverted to paying for shipping warranty units I'll be much happier about my (admittedly small) investment in this vape.

Hopefully this is how they'll deal with all warranties from now on.
Hopefully the faulty units are rare, and that means that GHL won't have to spend much putting the problem to bed.

 GHL:tup:

I would not necessarily expect that all such resolutions work out positively in this way. Your experience may be an exception.

They'll admit there was a manufacturing error with the batteries or chargers or something and they've had to order new parts from overseas, which will take two weeks to make, another week to ship, then maybe they can start making Grasshoppers again.

Whatever it is, I hope it attempts to explain the problems people have been having with their GH's that fail. GHL never seems worried but it seems like there are a lot of fails for some reason and I hope it doesn't end up hurting them and that they get to the bottom of it for good. Its a great device and people really like them but they can't keep it up if they keep failing. I don't know why some GH's seem fine, work without any problems, while others don't work from the very start or something happens very quickly. My GH's are still going strong, I haven't had an issue with any of the GH I own or have tested, 4 or 5 in total (own 2 ). I have noticed if you "stutter" press the on/off, like really quickly and not fully depress the clicker, the lights will flash red but when that happens, I just click it all the way to turn on then off again.
