Discontinued The Grasshopper

Well, we know from previous updates that they have been getting at least some amount of pre-Indiegogo funding from the beginning, so it wouldn't be surprising.

I just read in the boulder paper this morning a precision dose vaporizer is getting funding from investors. I wonder if it's the Gh team?
Nope not GHL

A handful of companies did manage to impress investors, including Ananas, which is manufacturing a precision dosing vaporizer, and Compliant Cannabis, a provider of business data software systems.

And so it begins. Hopefully, we'll be seeing some real competition in this space very soon. In a few years, I'll have something sitting on my desk that will be safe, reliable, easy to use and maintain, taste good, efficient, etc. And affordable. It will just work: a real consumer product rather than someone's science project.

I'm getting the notion that majority of people will be LOVING this vape for the oil cartridge. The heat issue seems like a thrill with concentrates. I wanna see the oil cartridge. Maybe the oil cartridge is the one with the intended design of a cooling layered inside the mouthpiece.

I'd have to disagree. How many different ways can you heat weed? Herbie and the GH are the fastest
out, evo is the hardest hitting, all 3 very tough to beat. But hey if we can send shit to mars maybe...;)

In response to several different and unrelated posts above, which I'm too lazy to quote individually:

I've used several different vapes over time, both home and portables. The GH is the best for me. Super stealthy, massive output - that's what I need, and the GH delivers.

I had a few issues with my GH (all cataloged in this thread). The folks at GHL have been straightforward and honest in all of my dealings, and although no one wants to have problems, I'm satisfied with the outcomes.

I used the silicone tip until I had to send everything back for a diagnosis the last time I had a warranty issue. I held onto the silicone mouthpiece, and somehow misplaced it, so I haven't used it since I got my GH back. Honestly, I haven't missed it. As others have mentioned, the GH doesn't heat up enough EXCEPT right on the tapered end of the tip to become uncomfortable, so the slight adjustment of putting my lips just past the tapered part of the mouthpiece works fine for me.

Some folks have complained about loading it, especially on the go. I carry my aromatherapy substances ;) in a prescription pill bottle, and on the go, I just jam the open GH into the bottle like I would a one-hitter. It doesn't fill it to the brim, but it's super quick and easy to get the chamber filled a half to 2/3 of the way up, and that works fine for me. At home I use the folded GH instruction pamphlet as my loader - it just seems like the right thing to do.

I don't feel the folks at GH have ever "lied" about anything from the time they began their funding campaign. They've been overly optimistic about some of their projections, but as far as intentionally stating something they know is not true - which is the definition of a lie - I haven't seen any evidence of it.

I usually start a load with the temp at the lowest setting. I get a couple of good - and delicious - hits, then I turn it up half way, get 2 or 3 good but slightly less delicious hits, and then turn it all the way up for 2 or 3 more BIG but a little harsh hits. But occasionally I'll just skip the preliminaries and do a whole session at 5, depending on my mood and needs. Any way I use it though, this thing is awesome.

I was a first day Indiegogo supporter. I waited over a year and a half before I got a GH in my hands, so I completely understand the impatience some people feel. But if you're on the fence, and you can relate to any of the above, you should just pull the trigger IMO. For me, this thing really was a game-changer.

Check back in a few years for your answer. Seriously.

People are always saying "I cannot imagine how X can be improved." That's a fair statement, but not because X cannot be improved upon, but because most people cannot imagine how to do it. Which is why people who can imagine the future are so revered...and (usually) so rich.

Wow, just saw on Reddit that those bozos sent someone a replacement that was used and still had bits of weed in it....

At least we know their QA procedure involves real world testing...

I'm sure this is a one off & maybe they are seeing the ill effects of working 7 days a week.

Silent Bob had a sesh and then accidentally packed his, instead of the new one in his other hand.

Should GHL have a strict zero tolerance policy on cannabis? :brow:

Actually, the poster received it DOA, so I'm not sure how much testing was done....

Nice post.....

I would like to ask if you might be willing to experiment just a tiny bit for us or perhaps just myself..... In recognition of your statement "on demand heater with no problems of temperature stabilization" I feel this is the true essence... not to make light of the other awesome qualities, form factor, stealth, etc... but the heater and what it is capable of delivering or doing is what makes this vape stand out.....

So lets acknowledge that fact and adjust accordingly..... "rip or sip".... why not both....mix or combine the 2 methods.... I think we can all identify that the heater is capable of maintaining a steady temp no matter how hard the pull.... so if you wish to create a nice full hit but don't really wish to milk it {heavy extraction} but would prefer to create a full but not so heavy or saturated of an inhalation.... what I think many refer to as a session inhalation.... {more draws w/softer vapor}

So here is what I'd experiment with if I had a GH to play with...... my draw speed would be gentle for a few seconds just to get the chambered prewarmed or equalized closer to the vapor temp.... then I would begin to step up my draw speed to RIP speed but not for very long..... this will be the extraction time..... you will have to pin point best time line..... NOW for the mixing stage of our inhalation and I believe the GH has some amazing possibilities.... easiest being to simply click it off and continue drawing and mixing or you could return to a gentle softer pull...... I fond this idea very intriguing because we will still be getting heated air doing it this way.... therefore depending on user timing... the tailoring of our individual inhalations should be very easy to achieve.....

Maybe in the NOT so distant future GH2,3,4 or whatever they will be configurable.... each user could predefine how they'd like their inhalations to turn out...... then we wouldn't have to time ourselves or soften/harden inhale speeds...do it with temp control..dropping it slightly during the mixing stage of the inhalation..... wouldn't that be SOMETHING...!! :peace:

I got you. A lot of what you describe I have mostly played with on my own, for curiosity. My previous statements with with my personal preference testing all of this.

My girlfriend doesn't have quite the amount of lung power that I do, and so it's necessary for her to breathe very soft for a short amount of time, She super sips it, which I have noticed doesn't always produce the amount of vapor I normally get (I pull very very strong).

Now, a lot of the Grasshopper depends on how much you pack in. If you constrict the airpath too much, a soft draw will probably put the device into autoshut off.

I like your idea of turning it off and back on. Since the unit still has 5 or so seconds after being turned off of vapor production, you could do this quite nice.

I have already tried hitting the Grasshopper without blue LED. It can take up to 10 seconds to heat up. If you pull softly, about 7. So, the red LED is definitely temperature sensor of some sort. With that said, vapor does begin to produce before blue.

So, I do a lot of what you mention already. The only one I probably don't do often is turning the unit back on after turning it off. What I normally do it hit the waterpipe until right before I know I'm going to start feeling that chest tickle. I'll then tilt the Grasshopper to clear it, press it back in to milk the chamber with the residual heat until no more vapor is coming out. So, if I were to turn it back on I'd have a coughing fit lol!

I don't know how many of you knew this, but a few days ago I sent an e-mail to Caroline asking a few questions (some were what color of GH they all liked, others about the Nitecore external charger). But the one that stuck out the most to me was her answer about the Grasshopper when it is turned on.

Did you know that you can set the unit to 3, turn it on, hit it, and midway through your hit turn it up to 4 safely?

Caroline confirmed it. And holy crap it was fun to watch.

In any case. I don't think I've mentioned just how cool the vapor is through waterpipes. It's dense, which you can feel, but not hot at all. I keep meaning to get a batch of hot/warm water (gross pipes so I need to brita filter it) and put it in some glass, but I'm usually stoned and by the time the water is done filtering I've already forgotten.

Ah, Caroline also confirmed that the ticking while on the charger is also normal, so no worries there.

The battery life is very short. Shortest of all my vapes (Pax, PnP, Palm, Vaporblunt 2.0, G Pen, Alfa). Full charge lasted two bowls. Earlier it lasted one. Sipper, not ripper here.

I def agree with earlier quote "I'm already tired of changing batteries".

So what was the conclusion as to whether or not the company OKs the use of the Nitecore chargers with the batteries?

Due to liability, she couldn't tell me.

I went ahead and charged one anyway, since I know other users have been okay. I haven't had a chance to use it yet, but technically it's a no I think is what that means.

I charged 1 Hopper Labs battery with 1 18650 battery from the Arizer Air. No explosion, at the very least :p

Edit: @Bass Vaper yeah it can become a little excessive. Having an external charger and extra batteries helps a lot though. I ordered 2 more batteries from them because I think 4 will be a perfect amount.
