If there was a partition and no wires/leds than nothing would happen except heated air blowing out the intake holes. But you might melt the led with hot air and if there is no partition you can be blowing hot air all the way down to the circuitry in the end cap which would likely desolder some chips.
I don't think this would be possible; the battery etc is isolated.
I don't know about the LED's but I can tell the battery -onwards appears to be a completely separate partition. This is good because there's no way the battery could vent into the airpath or anything, and also it seems to be insulated. I noticed that even if the unit got hot, the battery stays relatively cool. Good stuff.
