Discontinued The Grasshopper

No offense, but if it were me, I'd want my own translation. Reminds me of the old Monty Python routine on the Naughty Phrase Book.

You wouldn't want to find out that something was translated as "The Grasshopper is the first vaporizer designed for anal use. To use, click the button, wait for the red LED to turn blue and then insert it gently but firmly in your rectum."
I don't think it would be a stretch of the imagination to think that the German FC'ers who need a German version of it can read German.

For the few of us who might need this, I translated the manual into German.
I heard it's needed for the German Customs Office.

I also made a thread on Reddit for more information if needed: https://www.reddit.com/r/GrassHopperVape/comments/3l8426/image_i_translated_the_manual_into_german/

Edit: use at your own risk, this isn't the official version, keep that in mind.

Looks gut!

I don't have a gh but for anything battery powered its not good to leave it plugged in because it shortens the lifespan. You shouldn't let the battery become fully discharged either if possible. If you're not using it for a while you should store your battery about half capacity I believe.

Thats is incorrect. That is true of Lipo batteries. These are Lithium, either ICR or IMR. I hope they are IMR much safer. They should never be discharged below 3.4v and that protection better be built into the GH or the batteries are going to be useless pretty fast. Best to keep them fully charged they will last longer. No issues charging right after use even if only little use. And theoretically no issues leaving it plugged in as log as the GH does a good job in its circuitry to not over charge and when to stop charging. But never leave it charging when you are away from the house. Like any battery no matter what device they can cause fires when things go bad.

My dark gray Ti unit has a mark from the clip scratching the body, I'm careful now to hold it so the clip doesn't touch.

Also the batteries have never been below 3.5v when taken from my GH with the red LEDs flashing (low battery.) I charge all my batteries in a Nitecore D2 which shows the voltage. Usually the voltage is between 3.6-3.7v when the red lights kick on.

Good to know. Thanks!

We're here to fuck shit up.
After having a green Ti for a week or so now, it's been a plus and a minus.

The pluses are all that everyone have listed- build quality, heat up time, shape factor, discreetness.

Negatives. Vapor quality and taste are on par with a mflb. It's hit or miss and I've settled on a heat setting of 4. Sometimes a wisp, sometimes some clouds. Most of the time I'm wondering if it's working or if I tried it just "right". A lot depends on how long, how strong you pull. A lot. And then on the grind and how you load. I just can't get any consistency. So, a lot of variables to deal with.

More than once, I've reverted and reluctantly back to the pax2. Because it is consistent, on whole, no matter what the pull, length of pull. Though it does like a packed chamber. Which is easy to do.

Hate to say this, but the GH is sort of a refined atmos raw imo. No less. A bit more.

There must be something going on with yours because a small amount of good videos have been posted that show it working quite well. Your material is dry and not moist? Heat is going to evaporate things going up the temp scale, spending energy around 200f to boil off the excess moisture... in some vaporizers (like Solo) you can see the condensation build up very quickly around the inside of the glass stem if you have moist stuff. I think drying it out will help. Also steady draw, you have to take the heat from the heater to the material and warm it up. @Deadshort480 posted a video here

http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/the-grasshopper.18482/page-142#post-850924

is yours not behaving similarly at all?

This statement has bothered me for months now. Can anyone explain to me how this could be true?

"The coloring process further enhances the thermal properties of the titanium, allowing for even greater performance."

(From the product description of the Color Grasshopper) https://www.grasshoppervape.com/store/product/color-grasshopper/
Doesn't make sense. I would ask GHL, have Caroline answer, she can ask the makers of the unit. What would the coloring process have anything to do with it? Wouldn't it be the titanium itself?

I really appreciate the effort and time you put into this, but I think you uploaded the wrong images. Because what you uploaded is a blank manual for ants. There is no way anyone can put readable text into this and print it in a decent quality.

Nevertheless they aren't good quality (got shrunk on the server) Try these

(Edit) Just saw that you did your own. Very nice.

The anodizing process will change the emmissivity of the surface. So will therefore change the amount of energy a surface transfers via thermal radiation. By how much? Not that much I would assume. I'd love if GHL supplied all their materials specs but I can't see that happening.

Here's reliable info about the general battery charging and storing thing:

That really irritated me too...sounds like marketing talk to me, because the difference to the un-coated devices would be negligible imo. Would have preferred if they had just wrote "Look guize, fancy color hype!" or something instead.

While I believe this to be true with anodized Aluminum because it's an actual applied coating, I'm not so sure about Titanium anodizing. If there is any actual change then I can only come to the same conclusion as you. The difference is beyond minuscule.

Regarding the overcharging issue of the batteries, the manual says that you have to use a UL listed USB port charger. Looking for chargers on Amazon, I found this:
  • UL Listed: this charger reaches the rigorous safety standards of Underwriters Laboratories, designed with over-heated, over-current, over-charging safety protections ensures superior performance and reliability.
So there's that. Just get the right charger and you don't need to worry about your battery.

Anodizing is anodizing, whatever the metal- it's just a layer of oxidation. A very thin layer.
I'm sure the difference is measurable given the right tools, and equally as sure that the difference is not significant.

There's another double blind study to do. "tell us which one of the TI 's was anodized" & while we're at it, do the SS vs. TI blindfold comparison as well- "which one was TI, and which was SS"?

Yes the layer is just an oxidation no matter the metal, but the oxide layers differ in thickness (protective quality) between different pure metals and their alloys. Measured in nano or micrometers. The science behind what they say is true, but for the end user they would never really be able to tell the difference between brushed Ti and anodized Ti.

Exactly. Measuring the difference with accuracy and precision, with a standard of error for instruments most of us have access to, would be a problem. A person's senses would probably be better suited for the task but this gets into the "angels on pinheads" category.
