" I know it's likely to be a massive inconvenience for some people, but normal people should be able to manage. "

I don't agree, folks that don't like this solution are NOT "abnormal".........

It's a work around, which by definition means the unit is not doing something the owner wants? But inferring they are abnormal is not so cool I think. Poor choice of words?

OF
normalcy is as subjective as taste? Reverse compliment maybe instead? Back to our show ;)

This is the type of thing that can be easily modified, especially increasiing the auto-shut off delay time (no design change, same cost, etc). It would be cool if a few more people would do the same.

While making the time longer should be easy (at the expense of battery life), I'm not so sure about sensing draw by power used being made more sensitive. It has to be set 'high' enough so it will not stay on just because you're ice fishing.....

Regarding the leather sleeve that comes with the ti; it's useless with the silicon tip installed correct?
I asked Trevor long ago and he replied that neither the metal accessory cases nor the leather sleeve will accommodate the GH with the silicone tip installed since the tip came after both case/sleeve designs were finalized.

I am starting feel like the grasshopper marketed themselves like the legendary punk band the Germs did.

The founding members of the Germs decided they wanted to form a band and play shows even though they had no musical experience at all. They started to put up flyers for punk shows with their newly formed band but never actually Had a show booked. They did develope a following through the flyers. After about 4-5 flyer postings the germs learned a few songs booked a show and went on stage. Darby Crash felt he wasn't a great singer so he would hold the mic way out in front of him so he couldn't be fully heard. He ended up commiting suicide. The Germs are now a legendary punk band!!

The hopper team may have taken some pages right from the Germs play book. Boasted long and loud about what a great product they have, gained interest and a following before any product is released, release a few rushed units with fingers crossed, the lead man steps back from the mic. Now let's just hope all this pressure doesn't get to him and the few hoppers released become legendary!!

Yes, I'm on the college student budget haha. I'm new to vaping. I used to have a MFLB like a couple years back but sold it to a buddy because I didn't really like it.

I'm just trying to make the best investment and have narrowed it down to either the GH or the Pax 2.

I have both and use both and like both a lot for different reasons. If I could only have one however it would be the GH, no question

The case isn't really anything that seems to be that big of a deal. The unit itself is what is most important cases can come later. After a few weeks I will be anxious to hear from some of the early shipped customers that have a unit that still works. I will keep my fingers for everyone.

For those of you on the bottom of the list check out some portable vaporizers here on FC that are ready to be delivered as soon as you order.

Political correctness: a doctrine which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd from the clean end. The theory is unquestionably well intended. The reality is that the end result is often like bloated software that erodes or extinguishes the benefit &/or value of the function which spurred it.
HERE FUCKING HERE!!

Sorry if already been asked...just started happening. Anyone else intermittently been getting the red/blue flash while it's heating up? I almost never use temp 5 and when this happens, it shuts itself off. First time it happened I was like oh great, here we go...another defective unit. But after cycling the switch, it resumes normal operation. As a matter of fact, I've been experiencing a number of odd happenings with this ti unit. Especially when trying to charge the damn thing.

Edit:I've sent an E-mail to them about it (trevor@grasshoppervape.com). This is the type of thing that can be easily modified, especially increasiing the auto-shut off delay time (no design change, same cost, etc). It would be cool if a few more people would do the same.

While changing the software might seem easy, getting it on the unit may not be. We don't know how they are loading the software and what type of memory it is. It could be write once memory and then soldered to the board, which could require a new shipment of boards. I don't seem them doing this, since some might want the 18 sec shut-off (I wouldn't really know until I have used one and see what it is like to use plus how much battery it uses. With all the other issues...I would think this request would be ignored for the foreseeable future. Maybe GH 2.0 will have more adjustable settings, perhaps via app a la the crafty.

I'm seriously considering stepping back from my pre-order and asking for a refund... Starting to dislike the whole "progress". Too many defective units, shipping times unreliable, communication is like non existent (I know the got Caroline but I am not satisfied with non-answers and intransparency). All in all the directions heading to nothing good.. No truly positive turnings yet, which are badly needed.
Definitely I won't lose interest of getting it someday. But losing money or getting a alpha/beta like faulty unit and having it shipped back and forth for replacements (I'm not from the U.S.) is not a good vision. Hoped I could see it different...hmm :(

When new vaporizers are out there's always small changes added to the units afterward. The Crafty had some modifications since its release. Same as the Solo, MFLB, E-Nano and every newly released vaporizers. Even the not so newly released ones.

In reality the crafty people buy today is the Crafty version 1.06 if we gave it a number. Small changes to the Grasshopper are already implemented. Making the auto-shut off more sensitive to slower draws or adding a few seconds before it shut down can easily be implemented on future Grasshopper released in the following months.

Personally, I know my draws with my E-Nano sometime last for a good 15-25 seconds (that is without waiting 5 sec to heat up, etc). If the Grasshopper can detect my draws (hard or slower), then I'm very happy.

Yes, very true, though, who knows how many boards they got with the old software and if this really is a big issue for most users vs saving battery life and how much thought went into it. It probably would be a 1.01 or greater change like you said.

I hope that it can detect a soft enough pull that it won't cause issues for you and others...but really I just hope it ships to everyone :).

Still it's very telling that the grasshopper can't be used comfortably without the supplied silicon tip (that they didn't even want to supply), and that this tip can't be left on the grasshopper when stored in any of their three supplied cases. To me this is more evidence of poor planning, with more case redesigns to come.

Normally such 'small changes' are uncovered and dealt with earlier on in the process. In Prototype Evaluation and Beta Testing. Things like 'it runs so hot on the MP we're going to have to include a heat shield' should have come before the final design for cases were made and what seems like a HUGE supply were ordered IMO. I'm not sure what to think about the case scratching the unit.

As I've said before I think changing the time is possible (at expense of battery power and yet more heating) but an not so sure sensitivity can be lowered and still be reliable in all reasonable conditions. I mentioned ice fishing, but there's snow boarding and so on where it's likely to be subjected to very cold weather.....cold enough and it could mistake the higher heater power as a light hit and stay on. This function must have been tested and the level chosen for those reasons?

However, I think the case you just made above is a sound one for not buying now? But rather waiting until all the issues are shaken out and all the inventory consumed of those changes that apply? That is none of the improvements (not just changes, improvements) are likely to be retroactive. You own the old model. Not the best advice perhaps, but it is part of my plan to do so. Along with not wanting to wait on some list of course.

I'll continue to sit on my wallet and wait and hope. This sucker has potential......

I don't personally use the silicone guard ever, unless I am using it with friends, passing and it and hitting it non stop. I think its perfectly comfortable to use a hit at a time with a short rest in between inhalations ( less than a minute) and its fine, besides if it is too hot that's why they have the guard so whats the big deal over a $5 accessory? Is anyone really surprised that an all metal vaporizer gets hot?

Different vape, but I cut my arizer air stem so that it is about an inch long including the bowl. The glass stem protrudes only a half inch out of the arizer air. I can use it on high and get huge hits. The glass stem can get hot if I do it to long but I just losen my lips and breath som air in like the way you would use a carb... Then I go back to the draw and its fine....

But yeah now that I think of it metal would be hotter, not sure I could do it with a metal stem... The metal on my tnt stem is very hot.

Yes, but only when you forgot to click it off. The Grasshopper is not a session vape, it's an on-demand vape. With time, clicking it on and off before and after a draw becomes automatic. I know because I have a MFLB and you need to pull out the battery after each toke.

I don't have a grasshopper yet but I presume that like the MFLB, after you click it off, you continue to inhale vapor. So you don't waste vapor and to cool the unit. It quickly becomes part of how you draw from the vaporizer.

My thoughts as well...... aside from the reason being identified as on-demand verses session.... I happen to feel it has much more to do with it having 30w of convectional power.... I happen to own a log vape that are same design but 1 of them has a "S" modification that doubled its power output to 25w.....
My log vape leans more towards the conduction side of the house but is also a hybrid and does posses convection properties... well when I 1st got my 25w unit I had to immediately change my draw method because the unit was getting way too hot..... I use a 4" glass tube 1" is chamber and the other 3" offers a very sweet cooling reclaim center..... well I could literally feel the heat climbing up the glass stem.....

The issue IMO.. has more to do with the heater staying on too long {ikr hear me out} if you simple shut off the heater say 2/3 of the way into your inhalation.... heat will not reach out to your lips.... this is however not the way in which this device has been programed... therefore clicking it off is your quickest recourse.... perhaps further down the road this protocol or methodology might change.... :2c: :peace:

I'm more concerned with the report that it's standby mode still significantly drains the battery...I hope they work on that.

Yep, I don't get that either... It's not a feature, it's a bug?! ;)
