Discontinued The Grasshopper

Old & In the Way
Any consensus on what is a fair price to list a slightly used working 2017 hopper that has not had the warranty registered? Is it even worth anything at all? lol
A fly in the ointment is the offer that HL was giving to some folks who had their unit in for warranty service. The offer was $80 discount toward the new Hopper.io.
Some worried this might devalue their Grasshopper.
I don't think yours is worthless, compared to a new one at $265, that is, if anyone is buying them at that price (see pages 1 thru 1013).
My opinion is that 150 might be difficult, but it does not seem unfair to ask that much.

I have 2 Grasshoppers. I needed a replacement battery, I empty the herbs after every session. I use a Q-Tip of Alcohol and clean the oven and inner screen. I soak The PFE or stock mouthpiece in hot water and tiny drop of dish soap. let it dry or use a towel.

Taking care of it like above service requests should be way down and the performance is as good as any vape.

The hot lips issue I have addressed with wood ring (From my boundless CFC). Hold it by the clip to avoid getting zapped.

literally the prep above takes 3 minutes and the reward I dont worry about any service requests after 2 years. My back up I use is just to keep the battery in working order and avoid dust. It's a hell of a water tool.

Brother, I got news for you....there are many GH owners w years of vape experience who know how to take care of a vape and nonetheless have had multiple RMAs.

If you hVe two good years and still going strong, of course you should stick to your procedures. But you might also consider that you are also just fortunate.

I’m sorry, but to me, your post implied that people w reliability issues are due to lack of proper care. While certainly true in some cases w any vape, in my strongly held opinion that the bulk of GH RMAs are the direct result of the design, manufacturing, test shortfalls.

@C3PO , my SS Hopper hasn't worked right for more than 2 months total since 2018 ... and I think I sent it back 5-7 times in the 1st year, and every time it came back it still didn't work right. And all my vapes look brand new even after I own them for years, because I'm obsessive about maintenance. Wish I was as lucky as you though!

My Ti Hopper has been working well for over a year as long as I have a functional battery (I've barely used it though, and have only resumed usage since the warehouse fire as I had no good batteries for most of the prior year + primarily consume rosin these days)

Hello Guys , on 5 th May I celebrated 2 years RMA . Speechless
Unhappy Anniversary. That’s a shame. I do hope you’ve had some conversation with HL during this time or perhaps a recent one with some options? I know units were lost in the fire (a local buddy of mine’s was), and several on here and in the IO thread have talked about solutions (putting it nicely) offered from HL. Not ideal but it’s at least something. I hope you come to an understanding and agreement with them soon.

I sympathize with those in this situation, and I was fortunate to get my Ti back almost exactly a year to the day I sent it in for RMA. When you have a working Hopper, like mine is again almost 9 months now, it’s great to have this vape and easily a daily go-to (among others) for me. :peace:

Yeah pretty bullshit... they just have another excuse for delay... most people just don't have that many reasons!...@Hopper Labs why not GIVE ME MY HOPPER!
@Hopper Labs... Hopper Labs will need to up their game in terms of customer service and reliability of their old model before I give them more $$$ IMO.
@Hopper Labs... most of us would appreciate some timely communication.... not responding is what will piss off your customers!...
... A little initiative and communication from hopper labs would go a long way...
It's a shame. HL had built so much momentum and good will here in second half of 2019... I do wish @Hopper Labs all the best, wish he could open up here more, just the presence goes a long way. Sometimes all you really need to do is show up.
This whole Thread keeps me very far away from buying a hopper or an IO... Dear HL, please behave like a trustworthy company with normal customer support...
@Hopper Labs hasn't even logged in for over a week... surely responding on a computer can be done remotely!

I wish they had used a 18650 battery from the beginning, we could all buy AW IMR's whenever we want and the Grasshopper/IO would have the potential to be a cherished heirloom, instead of an expensive device with a limited lifespan due to proprietary batteries.

The sound of silence from HL is deafening. Crickets. It’s like an ostrich burying its head in the ground. Maybe they’ll break radio, er online, silence soon.

It’s a shame many haven’t heard back on their RMAs and orders since the fire and what became of them. It’s like they’re hoping these folks go away but they won’t. Just lingering resentment and frustration by some customers and prospects. Not good.

I would love a GHB3 battery update! Nearly half of May has gone by and not a word about my replacement batch for ones received before the fire, which I ordered over a year ago. Don’t get me started on BATTERIES! :bang::bang:

On the bright side if there’s a silver lining for me, my repaired pre order Ti continues to run well 9 months since its triumphant return from RMA-ville. Of course, new batteries would be welcome at this point but I digress...:peace:

Check the io thread!
About time! Thanks.

@Vaporific, my battery order is also over a year old, dating from April 23 '19.

And, there already was an update.
Did you receive the errant batteries or not yet? I did and waiting for their replacements. I haven’t checked my HL account recently. The last time I checked it was for a PFE I ordered as a favor to HL for proofreading and testing the new IO website (I’m such a nice guy :) ). And for my trouble and paying for the PFE, I had to coax it out of them in that they thought it was a simple donation (which it wasn’t and more of a pity purchase if you ask me. Didn’t have a PFE, wanted one, but used it only twice so far. Oh well). At least there’s some movement on their part, albeit slowly and delayed as usual...:peace:

Just a quick check-in and an alternate perspective. I ordered an SS Hopper a long long time ago June 2016 and it has been useful since day one. I am not a heavy hitter nor am I a multiple daily user. I loved the thing so much that I purchase a Titanium that I have used only once...still in the box...intended as a back-up because of reading about all of the issues and customer service posts. I have never seen another device that I wanted more than the GH...I love the form factor etc....and I like the small chamber. If I am using flower...I am using the GH SS. Yes the back end can warm up on me. No I don't think that this device is good to 'pass around for a session' (and the pandemic put an end to that anyway eh?)...so this device is not the perfect all arounder.....yet it is perfect for me. Over the last couple years I did purchase 3 new batteries (prior to the recent fire debacle that I read about here). I do wish that batteries were easier to obtain and that they lasted longer. I do wish that Hopper Labs had created an organization that customers could rely upon.

So there are those of us that have used these Hoppers without problems...I really like the device. It is impossible to suggest to a friend that they purchase one of these given the storied customer service disaster(s) well documented on this forum. The battery difficulties alone prevent me from touting the device to friends. Despite it all....I love the thing.

Such a great product with HUGE potential. Such a shame that so many problems have come, passed, and continue for this company. Seldom have I seen a company with such a superb product yet the organization cannot seem to get out of their own way. Even more surprising (to me) is that another more efficient company hasn't created a similar device with the customer service and logistics to back it up!

I will be very sad when my SS fails me. I have the titanium in backup position and never liked the way it 'felt' in comparison to the SS....but that is small potatoes. I hope that by the time that I need Hopper Labs Customer Service they will have gotten their 'act together'.....but if history is any indication...I am not holding by breath.

I am kind of put off by Hopper Labs.
I have a brand new Grasshopper to test out, but it came with no front end.
I contacted Hopper, and asked if they could email me a paypal bill as I could not get their website to comply.
They sent me a reply, with a bill for it in March.
I have written to them a half dozen times.
Once they even said it was being shipped (about a month ago!)
It is going on 3 months... and still no front end!
@Hopper Labs ........ Please help a Vaporist out so I can get this unit tested, and into the hands of a patient in need.

Thank you vitolo....i have been so close to pulling the trigger on a hopper for years ...but somehow always i hesitate because of all these RMAs...and unhappy customers....the only happy hopper owners that i have seen...have been people who own 2 or more hoppers,as they always seem to have one on the fritz..i myself have been in love with this vapes design and stealthiness for around 7 years..and still cant find the balls to buy it yet...i was hoping that this new version would make me eat crow...

For what it's worth I'm a happy Grasshopper owner and I only own one. I've had 3 warranties since my first unit, Oct. 2015, and mine is the only one to have been warrantied amongst a group of friends where there are 9 Grasshoppers between the 7 of us.

@Vitolo I’m sorry to hear about your troubles, that is simply unacceptable. That should have been a simple transaction for @Hopper Labs and it should have been fulfilled long ago.
I find it unacceptable also.
They know who I am, and that I enjoy discussing dark issues and also great performance here on the forum.
You would think they give a darn!
Spare mouthpiece and PFE mailing tomorrow, @Vitolo
I have spares :)
Wow! Thanks @ChooChooCharlie

For the mouthpiece that won’t tighten, did you check to make sure your screen is screwed in tight? Pointy tweezers work great to tighten it.

I remember once upon a time years ago buying the pointy tweezers to spin the screen out of the front end (for cleaning). I can no longer seem to get that sucker to turn....am I forgetting something? It could be gunked up and stuck in place I s'pose. Perhaps a longer soak in alcohol prior to a reattempt might loosen the screen? Your knowledge appreciated.
