What is usually ship time from Canada to US? I'm jealous now... I was fine until Pipes reported his 3.7v method! This can't get here soon enough!

About 4 days IIRC. It got 'hung up' an unexpected extra day locally. Fast.

I'm afraid I don't follow the logic here. This is a seriously powerful vape with the factory batteries, not recommended for newbies for that reason. One second (out of say 5 or 6) one way or the other is the difference between 'not quite making it' and utter disaster. Why try to make that .4 seconds out of 3?

That's like having trouble lighting a roach with your bic without burning your fingers and resorting to a blowtorch seems to me?

I'm sure Pipes does not recommend 3.7 Volts over the factory battery....as much as anyone can be about what Pipes is going to do next of course.....

I'm not exactly a newbie when it comes to electronics, mods and vapes (this forum perhaps but not those things). I understand your concern... I will, of course, master the 3.2v stock method but I'm a few 6v - 7v low resistance vaper.

I need power and plume.

Such confidence! Hehe, just don't be discouraged if you combust a few times... or twenty like me:D

I'm not saying I won't combust... I've done it in my MFLB and taken my INH to the limits. But that's the fun right? It's like chasing a unicorn that's shitting rainbows and pissing glitter. Sounds pretty fucked up but you still want to see it.

My take is that the FlashVAPE is much less prone to combustion so far... It's pretty fucking resistant to combustion actually if you understand the power it holds... The double screen below the herbs is what makes the biggest difference compared to the MFLB and kudos to FV for thinking so thoroughly about this! It was always a piece of cake to blacken bits and pieces with the box and spoil the taste when the herbs where after the light brown point but not so with the FV! I use it by utilising convection mostly though and by holding the button for 4-5 secs and then micro hitting it with great care and a very light draw while having the button engaged at all times until the end. :2c:

Yeah the taste goes away but I've combusted way more than with the mflb...

I don't understand how you can hold the button that long without combusting, I hold for four seconds and by second two of my hit it's smoking. I have to moderate the button or else. I think there are large performance differences between units or something.

Also, how long can I let this go:

Are you sure you are not combusting because of the clogged screen up there?

I would definitely give that screen a cleaning. It is probably restricting your air flow. How fast are you drawing?

They shipped on Sunday, I received on Thurs, pretty good imo!

I think 3.2v has enough power, it's just you have to charge the batteries after each bowl because the next bowl on the same battery will have less voltage and less heat and it throws off everything you think you know about counting...

Add in the fact that as the bowl vapes you have to reduce the heat times and you can see it's hard enough just to use, if your a heavy user and like that thick vape, without having to worry about a low battery making you question your own technique.

If you look at earlier posts in this thread, there are some good statistics posted by Pak and Tweek on hit counts. You can always put one battery in the charger while using the other one, charging time is pretty quick! :)

I check that screen after every bowl and brush it clear if it looks like it's starting to clog.

Yeah what you see is the caked-on resin after I brush it clean after every bowl, it really feels as free flowing as normal but let's see if cleaning helps combustion...

After a few try, I can say the FV is like a "super-MFLB", and the taste is very similar for me. I love it because I can take a puff and let it, just like a MFLB.... but it never replace a vape like a Solo or similar. For example, I prefer the taste of the Solo and for the same amount of material, I can have more puffs with a Solo.
The fact is that you can burn very easy with the FV, now I prefer count 3 s., start to inhale and let the button 1 or 2 s. more only.
I have an explanation for Pipes : I open the cap between each puff (and shake) and I can see that some material sticks to the mesh, even if you shake well..... so this material burns and makes a spot on the mesh. These spots are due to combustion, of course.... Everybody can verify easily this by opening the cap and look inside between each puff
So if you don't want to burn, like I do inthe the picture below, you have to shake very well ;).... it's not only the counting that is important to not combust

Like someone says, it's like a race car (or for me, more a bike : a cafe racer, because very powerful but not for long distance !)

I took picture of the difference of ABV between a Solo at max 7 (right) and a FV with standard method 4s. (left) (if I pinch some black abv of FV, I can see carbon in my fingers... some burns)
And I had more puffs with the Solo...
abvsolofv.jpg

But I love the FV, we have to ride a wild crazy horse !!! And remember that the comparison with a Solo or similar is not fair, the FV's price is less than a MFLB !
This vape will be always ready to take a puff in my house when I want... only one or two puffs, and forget it (manner of speaking !) till the next puff, when I want.
In conclusion, it's a great vape (but not for all, and absolutly not for beginners.... like a Ferrari or a wild horse are not for all !) and it must be dominated by your knowledge of vaping.
I thought that if James Bond would have a vape, it will be the FlashVAPE, man !!!...... Flash Gordon too, but it's another story

I test it easily with my only and favorite (!!) water filter : very good ;)

I feel better master the craft than yesterday ... 8 puffs after, the grass is pretty green inside :)
And I speak you about quality ?...... very top quality

Questions for Master Jerry :
Can we soak all the top cap in alcool ?
Can we disassemble the top mesh from the lid to clean it ? (my purpose is to cleaning well this cap mesh)
What is the black tube ? silicon ? Can I soak in alcool too with the glass stem ?

Mine has never gotten that clogged. I hold it up to the light after brushing and if I see that there is still clogging, I dip the brush in ISO and try again. If that doesn't work then the top comes off and I brush with ISO from the other side. (Caution: I poked too hard and that's how my screen got damaged.) You can soak the whole swivel cap in ISO if you need to.

I open the cap between each puff (and shake) and I can see that some material sticks to the mesh, even if you shake well..... so this material burns and makes a spot on the mesh. These spots are due to combustion, of course.... Everybody can verify easily this by opening the cap and look inside between each puff.

At first I would look after the first hit to make sure nothing was stuck to the screen. If there was some, I'd break it loose with the brush. I think my ABV stopped looking like that after the second or third bowl.

Yes you can soak the top in ISO. The top screen is removable but might not be easy to get back in place. I don't know what the shrink tubing is made from but I've soaked mine in ISO with no consequences I can see. The most common heat shrink tubing material is polyolefin, which is not affected by ISO.

yes, you can soak the whole top cap in alcohol without any problem. however, you may find it is better to unscrew the bezel and remove the glass crystal for a more thorough cleaning.

We will be releasing the mesh filter screen as a replacment part as well very soon. As mentioned in an earlier thread, the mesh is not hard to remove and replace by hand, if you are careful. There were also some techniques discussed earlier, I will edit this post after finding it for your easy reference.

The black tube is heat shrink tubing, and is OK to soak in alcohol without any problem.

EDIT: (added this quote from earlier thread)

... that screen is actually not that hard to put back in once you get the hang of it... just take the o-ring out first, and put the screen's folded sides into the circular slot, making sure it is seated and centered. Then, push one side of the o-ring into the slot first, and press and hold it down with your finger tip. Now, with that one small section secured, slide and press the rest of the o-ring into place in a circular motion with the tip of your fingernail until you make your way all the way around (a tiny bit of stretching is required as you make it past the 1/2 way point). Now with the o-ring placed into the circular slot, carefully press down on the o-ring all the way around once again with the tip of your finger nail or a small blunt pointed tool, pushing the o-ring firmly in place into the slot, for a tight fit. The filter screen is now securely in place and ready to use.

That herbs seem very combusted yor vape is more like a pipe! Are all Flashvapes working the same way?

And in the other hand your solo herbs are so light brown mine use to be dark brown at setting 3 with a steel herb chamber cloud style I made

Yes, all FlashVapes work the same way...it can be as gentle or as vicious to your herbs as you allow it to be. Tons of fun :D

I'm at a point now where I can get my herb nice and even brown. At first, mine looked exactly as the pile on the left.

Hola hombre ! Remember that yesterday was the first time for me ! Today my ABV is more brown than dark... I'm learning to ride this crazy horse... better today :)
My Solo was at temp max (7) and no more vapor came, and I have a SS bowl too......
What do you mean by "a steel herb chamber cloud style I made" ? Have you pictures ?

That ABV above looks like the result of having combusted in the FV. As many members can attest, after some practice with using the FV, combustion can be easily avoided using the different techniques discussed in detail throughout the thread.

here is a picture of pakalolo's tiny 0.05g load's ABV after 23 hits* in the FV, WITHOUT combustion:

... This load barely covered half the screen, but that made no difference to the FV. It pulled vapour out of that for 23 hits* before stopping, and the flavour never did get awful. This is what it looked like when I was done:

qDaIy.jpg

The contrast makes it look more uneven than it actually is. The darkest bits are actually still brown. The contrast in this image is a little better:

cWYZR.jpg

You can see how little of the screen was actually covered.

* A hit was usually 5 seconds for heatup then 3-4 seconds of drawing slowly with power on. I used the Pak method at one point just to prove you could pull a thick hit using a load this small.

A picture speaks a thousand words, but can also be misleading. The FV is a very powerful vape, that gives almost INSTANT, ON DEMAND performance. It is versatile, and good for a variety of applications using different blends, both organic herbs and solid concentrates. However, it is a powerful machine and must be used with some level of restraint when first learning to master its usage. If you are combusting, a little shorter power-on time, or a little faster pace of draw speed will change how this vape behaves. Once you get used to how it works, vaping with the FV will come as second nature to you, and you will really be able to enjoy the FV's abundant power to the fullest. But before you are comfortable with unleashing the beast, please take it easy first... practice makes perfect!

I cant wait for my Ferrari to arrive!!!

While I get the analogy, I'm not so sure I'd characterize it that quite that way. More like an unlimited dragster seems to me? It's only going one way (don't try to take it anywhere it doesn't want to go....), is capable of some astounding performance within it's class, and it can quite easily get out of the control of even experts.

A tool to respect, but also a very rewarding one to use.....usually.

I would also compare the FV to a musical instrument ... you're going to play more and more you will know your instrument.....

Can we push the top mesh by the upside (not pushing directly in the mesh of course :\, but with a soft tube that measures the same diameter for example) ?
And how to change the down mesh, please ?

I love it more and more
