Of course it will, every vaporizer will let off an odor. However, if you use some cloaking techniques, or better yet, a Smoke Buddy (which is just a charcoal filter), that will diminish the smell considerably.

Also the more vapor you put out - the more smell there should be. However, vapor smell isn't as strong as a burnt smell, and doesn't linger as long.

You seem very focused on smell. You keep bringing it up, like you're searching for some magic vape that has no smell?

Past a certain point, vapes don't smell. And of those that do MFLB is on the 'worst offender' end of the scale, really so I'm worried about perspective. Other vapes (like say TV which can be literally boiled clean) can definitely be made to smell far less than MFLB with it's wood body and hard to clean fully screen. IMO a very bad standard of comparison.

Vaping itself is also not without smells. Heat up oil (which itself smells, right?) and the vapor is going to smell (after all it was oil vapor you were smelling before.....). And that which settles on surfaces can evaporate again (and 'smell') later. Like tar and nicotine in a smoker's house. And like that condition, the resident doesn't notice it as much as the visitor and should the visitor be a non smoker with a good nose and some curiousity it can become very obvious (if not overpowering) to them under some conditions.

IMO if you have reason to fear discovery of your activities, you'll have reason to fear no matter what vape is being used. The risk is real. And past a certain point it has to do with what you do, not what you do it with.

OK, OK, if you'll calm down and take your hand off your zipper, I've got a question for you: How do you think it smells?

And how easy is it to use, say compared to MFLB?

    TIA

Bummer, 'too big and stinky to hide'? That might be OK for some guys in some cases if it has other advantages. How does it vape? You have a MFLB already? How do they compare? Is it easy to use, will new guys find it easier to master than a LB or VG say?

    TIA

Hello all, I'm new to the forums, and also the new owner of a VB.

I have read all 20 pages of this discussion of the VB and have found some very helpful reviews and tips. As far as vape expertise goes, I used to own a Volcano Classic with the SS valve, and actually find myself preferring the VB to it. I know they are two different systems completely, but a few reasons are:

    - way faster to heat up
    - portable (still could do with some size reduction)
    - seshes last longer, with less in between work (I actually love the stir rod and find it does a fantastic job at getting you evenly vaped herb every time, as long as your grind is fine enough)
    - better flavour, less harsh

I do miss crushing bags with the Volcano (Mount Doom), but I find the long lasting seshes, with minimal input get me just as, if not more, medicated.

I won't do a huge long review on everything, but a more in depth one about the actual drags this unit produces, as I've seen from most comments that the main concern lies with the the density and intensity of the pulls.

I've had it for about 3 weeks, and it has seen little use up until this past weekend, because for me personally, my tolerance is so high that I feel like I need the power punch of a bong to get me to outer space. That's not saying the VB doesn't pack punch, just due to it's construction you can't take really huge, dense rips out of it.

The VB still can surprise you sometimes with some pretty sweet hits, but where it really shines is in longevity and bounce back. The vape lasts a very long time, getting you good bang for your buck. I am hearing complaints about how you have to pack it super full to get some actual drag in the device (and in turn, those dense pulls), but I have had success with varying amounts of tightness. By that, I mean I've packed the bowl, pushed down, packed, pushed down, packed, and this is the method I suggest for those looking to get really medicated, but I found it still worked with a much smaller amount (probably around .25) of gravity packed herb as well. Those with a higher tolerance however, probably won't get much effect from the smaller amount.

I usually hit the green light just before I start filling the herb chamber, and then once the light turns solid I immediately hit the turbo boost. I usually have the chamber filled and sealed before applying turbo boost. Now I actually stumbled upon this forum while searching for hit techniques for this vape because, like I said, I've had this vape for 3 weeks and it initially got very little use due to frustration. This vape does have a bit of a learning curve and you can waste a lot of herb by not knowing what you're doing. Little things, like it actually takes longer than the supposed 90 seconds to get your herb properly vaped before you can get some nice clouds, etc. That being said, like others before, I have tried out the MFLB nose drag technique and found that this is one of the only ways to really get this vape to work consistently well. Due to little actual drag in the system, you have to create the drag, so if you use this technique of inhaling through your nose with an open throat and just let the vapour enter your mouth, you can get much more satisfying pulls.

With the chamber gravity filled, I found it lasted about ten minutes, while taking constant drags. The bounce back for the system is very quick, and after only waiting 10 - 30 seconds, you are getting the same consistent hits for the whole sesh. With packing, I find myself unable to single handedly remember to finish the bowl. This thing can really take you to the moon and back.

This is both interesting and ironic to me. Isn't the 'inventor' of this device the 'seven gram blunt' guy? I'd have thought he'd be looking for hits that would kill me outright.....

I'm still holding out some hope for this, but sitting a little harder on my money with most every report we get. Which other vapes do you use? Where does this one fit in that group?

    TIA

As far as smell goes, it does put off a pretty decent odour while vaporizing. I used the unit last weekend in a hotel room bathroom, with my mom in the main room, and went undetected. My mom is a nurse with a nose, and she has always caught me when I do not properly prepare smell barriers, etc. However, I was able to have a pretty sick sesh while showering and shaving one day, and the best part was the lack or work. You could just put this thing down and pick it back up and toke again. It was a pretty lengthy sesh from one bowl, lasting about 30 minutes, with probably close to a gram of herb. All I did was put a towel under the door, sprayed hair spray along the other seams of the door, and rocked the fan. No smell leaked into the other room, and the odour was gone within a few minutes after the sesh with the fan running. The fact that my mom in the next room, was unable to smell anything blew me away, but when I left the bathroom and re-entered the main I could tell as well, that no smell had escaped the sesh room.

At home when I sesh in my room, I usually have a towel equivalent under the door, and a window open to allow some fresh air to get in. Without exhaling out the window, the smell is usually gone within 15 minutes after the sesh, and no odours escape from the room through the door.

Haven't really toked away in a sealed room and saturated it up to see how long the smell lasts in the room, but looking to try that out this weekend, and will post my findings.

I also have wood flooring too, which probably helps.

Thanks very much. That kinda nails the lid on it for me then. The LB is cheaper, right? So, bigger, stinky, harder to use, uses more herb and I've got to learn a new vape? I think I'll continue to pass on this for a while longer. Thanks again, you saved me some money I can now waste on false drugs.

Woooooooow. So filling this thing fully packed, on super boost is giving me back to back clouds, even after holding the vapor in for a while.

I did some research on the MFLB last night, and was kind of regretting the VB again, due to the MFLB being smaller, apparently stealthier, and about half the price. After getting a great sesh out of even a tiny bowl this weekend, and after the huge clouds I've been producing in the sesh today with not a very large amount of herb, I can easily say that I am happy with my choice.

To those having complaining about it being incredibly inefficient, I think it just takes time to get used to, for I have now found it very easy to get very medicated without ever using close to a gram (next time I fill the chamber I will measure how much herb it takes to fill it fully packed, and gravity packed). Good luck!

When compared to a .05g -.07g load used with many other vapes, nearly a gram can seem like a whole lot for just one load. Those are load sizes comparable to a heavy duty desk top vape.

Glad you're happy with yours. It seems not everyone is, which to me calls for standing by and collecting reports. Thanks for yours, please keep it up?

The last bit (above) points to one of the problems with this business. Getting loaded on a gram is very bad efficiency to many. To put it in perspective, PD stems run 30 or 40 to the gram. Most guys take a couple I'd guess before putting down? I load 125 mg, that's 1/8 of a gram, as the standard trench load. Most guys use a trench I guess? Likewise, two full sessions on a quarter gram in Iolite is fairly standard. This sort of standard should be easy for the sort of vape we're dealing with one would think. When guys say they're disappointed efficiency wise, I bet this is why?

Thanks again for the report, please let us know how it progresses.

The fully packed bowl I used to blast to the moon this morning was actually much smaller than I thought. It was closer to .3-.4 grams of herb, so just eyeballing, I'd guess that gravity filled would use on average around .15-.2 gram of herb. Not sure about single hits yet, or if they'd even work really well.

I don't do single hits usually, since my tolerance is still quite high, I usually make a sesh out of it and the one this morning had me continually toking for a good 35 minutes with constant feed back from the VB. At times it would often bounce back faster than anticipated, and I'd find myself taking another deep breath to take advantage of the extra vapour I'd notice that would start leaking out between pulls.

Then again, isn't the inventor here the fellow with seven gram blunts? Makes sense he'd make a heavy duty portable.....

This is something that merits some more watching, seems to me.

So I can now roughly confirm that a gravity filled chamber requires about 0.1-0.15 g of herb, and I packed a really tight bowl with probably around 0.35 g of herb, so clearly much less than I initially thought.

This will be my final review of the vape, although I will keep checking this forum, as I now have a much greater respect for vapes and am interested in checking out the MFLB a little more closely.

However, I can easily say that although pricey and a bit of a learning curve, I really enjoy this vape. It gets me really medicated, and just using it is so easy and satisfying once you figure it out. The taste is really good and I actually found myself turning it down from super boost (yellow) at times. The bounce back during a solo sesh is unrelenting, and it can get you really medicated. This sesh with 0.35 g of herb lasted about 50 minutes using regular and turbo boost modes.

I tried to get a video of the clouds, but like others have said, it is really difficult to pick up the vapor on camera. I can say that the clouds this vape produces while in super boost are quite satisfying, considering they are vapor, and I even had a few pulls that stung the lungs. So in closing I am quite happy with my purchase, although I ended up buying mine at $269.99 plus tax instead of the much more reasonable $219.99. I feel this unit would really sell and excel at the 200$ mark as far as vapes go. I used to own a volcano, and I much prefer this vape now that I have figured it out.

Thanks for the update. Sounds a little better at that level.

Good luck on you sojourn through the land of vapes. There's a lot of nice hardware out there, and new ones coming along all the time. I'd be very interesting to know how this guy fits in the bigger picture once you're up to speed there?

I agree, that's a lot of bucks. You can get a MFLB, PA, WPA, a fancy stem or two and a few grams to put in it for that kind of money. Or a LB and an Iolite? Or a HA, which while not portable is a very useful and talented machine IMO what with doing herb, hash, bags, direct draw and having it's own built in WPA. And a bunch of others.

    Thanks again, enjoy the testing.

I would also like to advise everyone that the new High Times did a review on the Vaporblunt. One last thing, I started a new thread for our new product "The Palm" Thanks for everything, you guys have all been great and supportive. When The Palm is released I am going to give a fat FC discount and I will send a couple test units to the guys who have been answering questions and helping out with this thread, thank you again.

Sorry for the bad responses before, i was angry. Sorry for also not responding for awhile. When i said that the vaporblunt was "Really big" was because what i saw from pictures and what came out of the box were two different sized things. I was mainly angry with the size because the bigger the unit is the less portability it has.

All in all the vaporblunt did not deliver what i was hearing from these forums. I dont know what i shouldve done but i am going to assume that there is a learning curve. I went to my lhs and recevied a defective unit. This is what made me doubt the vaporblunt, after receving a non defective model i proceeded to turn it on pack a bowl and use it. I experimented with the unit for an hour and a half and i wasnt seeing the results i expected. I mean no disrespect towards the vaporblunt company as there new model "the Palm" looks very interesting.i believe the vaporblunt company has a lot of potential and if anybody wants me to answer questions about the vaporblunt go ahead. There new unit the palm looks like it may deliver the portability and effectiveness that i once expected with the vaporblunt. The vaporblunt was just not for me, but if you dont mind the large bulky structure than i would say it could be a good buy for many. In my opinion i just thought that the unit was to big for portability even though you dont need an outlet to use it. i think the goals of the vaporblunt company are on key for making great vaporizer products for consumers that want that punch that smoking gives you.

Once again sorry for downtalking the product.
