The one on the right is the newer version. So your good.
Sweet thank you. I just used my replacement pax. Not sure what happened; I liked my pax before but never got clouds like I just did. IDK whether something works different on the new one, or because my herbs sat ground up for 5 days. But wow. this thing is so much better now :)

My replacement charged from red to green in about an hour :/ make sure your charger is fully connected?
Also this one has more of a rough, dotty finish instead of my last one that was smooth and stripey. which is the new variety?
I used to anodize, (the name of the finish on the pax) The heavier finish is probably just a longer hard coat. Look at say a mag lite or a paintball gun, same finish (annodizing), but glossy as hell and scratches easy. Those are not hard coated, hard coating is when you leave it in for a very long time it creates a much thicker layer, much more durable and hard to scratch. (and much more expensive and produces undesirable amounts of waste, I am actually quite happy they have these hard coated)
On a side note, I hate all of you that are getting an hour charge.:cuss: I dont see how my electric oulets could have any thing to do with it, they run everything fine, If they were providing less charge than what would normally run the charger, they probably wouldnt run say a light or an xbox.

Well my first impressions of this little pax vape are well amazing, I can't believe the amount of vapor this little thing puts out.
I know its a conduction type system but it doesn't burn and the resistance when taking a drs is minimali thought it be worse like the solo.
I hope I don't have issues like some of you all do(fingers crossed) anyway I bought mine here in Canada and it is warranty covered through Vancouver I hope it's a model that has all the bugs worked out but I dought it, can't tell models from newer to older regardless of of how old they are no serial numbers on them specifically.
I bought it while waiting for the cera and looks like my cera is on its way just confirmed yesterday and it will be interesting to see how a true convection vape compares with this little pax.
I truly enjoy this thing portable, compact, discrete, efficient and 10 year Efficient proprietary Iron alloy wire coiled around a Stabilized Ceramic core. One year warranty.
Can't really ask for much more hey.

If you aren't feeling drag on the Pax then congratulations, you know how to adjust your draw to your device.

Your Pax does have a serial number. It's engraved inside the mouthpiece chamber and is also on a sticker on the front bottom corner of the left side of the box.

Well that good to now never checked on the box or inside the mouth piece, ya I find the pax flows great I can even take a single pull and get adequate vapor my wife was like holy crap it produces a lot of vapor compared to your solo, extrem q, plenty, iolite, vape genie, mflb, she was really impressed and so am I.
I caved because I was tired of waiting for my Cera order to be sent out so yesterday I baught one then a email came saying please confirm cera order . Lol
Things just work out I quess also got a call to sell my plenty, extreme q, mflb, atmos raw I hope I can get rid of them to supplement the cera and pax vapes.

Medical Mark,
Hi boyos. Had my Pax for about a month now and love it. I wanted to leave two tips: If your mouthpiece isn't staying down and you don't have any PG (propylene glycol) lying around, a small amount of PG-based ecigarette liquid to the sliding ring-mechanism is an effective lubricant. Remember to lube the piston, not the outer ring. Tip two is to use a length of nylon weedwacker cord for cleaning purposes. I've got a short length in my film canister for stirring botanicals and cleaning the oven (the ridges are great for scraping out the corners after a super-tight pack), a longer length in my Pax box for breach cleaning with iso-soaked cotton. Hope this helps some people. Love the forum.

So hold the phone! I've been waiting for someone to come in and help us figure out exactly what kind of lube this is and whether we can get it commercially. Are you telling me something like this is what we need?

I find the best bang from your buck comes from about 1/4 to 1/3 a pack- Half and 3/4 packs still end up tasting wretch, small packs give you about 6 good hits, and then a few doodoo hits. It also gives me more manageable hits, the pax honestly gives me massive hits on orange or red that make me have to turn it off when I fill it to the brim. Try this and humor me, fill literally to the half way point and then compress it flat to the bottom. Literally just cover the bottom screen and rip it up. I bet you will get more than a few extra hits than you'd expect. You'll save bud, and it'll taste great 75% of the time pack instead of 10-20% of the pack. Another tip I have is I find it much more enjoyable to not lock my lips around the mouth piece, but keep them pursed on it instead, allowing fresh air from outside the Pax in to mix with the vapor. I made a leather case today :D Its pritty boss, it fits like a glove, and I designed it so that you can hit it or charge it while still in the sheath (doubt Ill be using these features, not really sure why I even built them in haha, at the time it seemed cool.) Also made a glass on glass adapter that is boss, took a glass on glass 18/14 reducer adapter (these are like 5 bucks at the glass shops and common) and used a bong top-hat grommet (also pretty common) to attach a mouthpiece to it. Trimmed it down so there is really no rubber in the glass joint where the vapor path is. So, now I can take MASSIVE rips through my bong (tight pack on party-high). I am so damn impressed with the milk shots I will do a video later and post tomorrow. I'll post a pic of the neat-o case I made too :) No new news on the charging issues. I am going to ignore the issue for a while and see if things progress. -Shpooding time, children.

^^^awesome post...I wanted to know the smallest amount sucessfully packed in the pax. Pax oven holds ~.5g...so as little as .125g for 6 good hits? Not bad, at all.

- Like the Pax due to stealthiness, shape/size, auto temp heat regulation/ease of use.
- Dislike the Pax due to frequent temp light issue (even with cleaning and lube).

My first Pax had the temp light issue. I learned to live with that common Pax issue. My workaround was/is to fiddle with it for a few minutes in order for its oven to stay on and reach vape temp/green LED. Everything usually works fine after the LED goes green however a few times I've had the temp light issue come back even after having LED go green (basically in that case have to repeat fiddling with it and it will eventually work). I use low temp setting/yellow almost always and sometime move up to medium/orange when using the Pax by itself (without a water tool).

Anyhoot after a few months of use my 1st unit's oven started to burn the herb at the bottom to full black while the herb at the top of the oven would be still green, all this while oven temp was set to lowest setting/yellow. Ploom Customer Service Support was awesome and they provided a return shipping label for the defective unit and quickly sent me a new replacement. I started using the new 2nd unit a few weeks ago and within a few uses it started having the temp light issue like the first one. Not a surprise, I can live with the issue. I tried to constantly clean it and lube it however still found it necessary to have to play with the Pax initially almost before every session to get the oven to stay on and LED to turn green. Fiddling means having to use any of the following techniques previously covered in this thread to get the unit to warm up sufficiently for the resin in MP tube to flow making proper contact across the switch latch and mp tube: clicking the MP in and out, remove MP and blow thru metal tube, warm the entire unit using a hair dryer while at home or car's heater vent when mobile, or slightly press down and twist the opened MP to allow switch contact to be made.

Where the Pax came in really handy so far was having little concern when walking into a concert with it loaded in my pocket. Here is a picture of the Pax at the Further concert during New Years Eve from what almost like 3 weeks ago. Pax party mode was not needed since we couldn't keep the unit still with everything going on around us. A good night turned into a great night indeed thanks to the Pax.

There's no reason that the Pax won't work on as small a load as you like. The cost is battery life. You'll be using just about the same amount of power to heat up that little bit as you would to heat up a full oven. The benefits, as explained by Mr.Krinkle, are conservation and taste.

I don't claim that this came from the smallest load ever, but this ABV started out as a thin layer barely covering the bottom of the oven, so obviously not packed.

You can read how it got this way earlier in this thread.

@filtered... nice man
im surprised the lube doesnt work for you 100% tho, i know what u mean about having to fiddle with the pax to get the temp light issue away.. but since i got the lube i rarely get the temp light issue..

I am still getting some temp light with the lube, and wondering if I am not using enough. I don't want to just coat the air path with it, so I have been very light handed, and it has helped, but I am still getting some temp light still. I'll try applying more after my next cleaning.

After receiving the lube and following the instructions, my temp. problem has not come up. i lubed the mp really well on the outside of the metal stem with the moving ring. i wish they sent me some stickers

ok...one week old PAX and since day 3 i've been running into the dreaded temp light issue...i was really hoping this was a quirk of the older models. I've been cleaning this thing meticulously with 90% ISO exactly as instructed. Mine, also did not come with any lube, but did come with a cleaning kit - someone said that they are starting to include 2 packs of lube with the unit. So, is this in fact something we have to live with? Even on new pax's? Did I maybe get an older unit? Whats the procedure? Call ploom or vapeworld? Being barely a week old, I would normally not accept a "defect" in a product, especially one thats a steep $250 unit and would ask for a replacement. Advice?

Applying too much lube will result in it being gunked up on the outside of the airpath, not the inside. I was concerned about this before too, but after cleaning it I see the lube is collecting where you would see that little locking ring between the stainless airpath and the body of the pax.

Are you cleaning the outside of the vapor tube and the inside of the mouthpiece? I used to have the dreaded temp light and now i barely have it anymore.

clean the outside of the tube
and call ploom for some lube.. no matter how much u clean the problem will pop up soon [it did for me] until the lube fixed it.

I have been cleaning the MP entirely with ISO and I also let it sit and soak for a bit. I havent cleaned the outside of the vapor tube however, only the inside with the pipe cleaner. Are you saying the part that the MP tube goes around/over? Doesn't seem like I can get anything down in there to clean.

I contacted Ploom via their weird chat feature (more like hybrid email not chat btw) and they just told me to clean it with ISO, no mention of any lube. The guy said to clean it around the spring area which I really havent seen or noticed. Ill try those suggestions, thanks guys.
