So anybody hear any weird noises coming from their pax? Packed a fresh oven of some new weed I just picked up and it's warming up and I hear a sound like, a sizzling sound maybe more like when you open a pop bottle and that noise it makes you twist the cap. Anyways, when i first heard the noise I turned off my pax and it continued to make the noise for a few seconds, turn it back on it makes the noise again but it doesn't make the noise consistently, only for like 5 seconds and it goes away. This is the first time this happened to me, anyone know why?

JoeKickAss explained this best in post #5280:

Well it's not actually the herb itself, but poorly cured bud still has some moisture in it which boils out at 212F (Pax heats up to 300-400F)

That's also why in the beginning of a sesh (with moist bud) the vapor feels hot, it's steam in the vapor!

What happens with the hissing and crackling is the steam boils out of the bud and then condenses on the cold metal of the vapor path, once enough water condenses a little drop forms and runs down towards the 400F heater where you hear it flash boil like water on a frying pan.

Once you hit it enough though and get rid of the moisture the crackling stops and the vapor feels smoother too!

EDIT: you would have needed to have searched for the word "hissing" in this thread to find the answer

I'm pretty sure it's mainly just liquidly resin in the stem, I think you could avoid it by sticking a pipe cleaner down the stem after each sesh, no need to remove the oven screen just a quick swab down the tube after taking the MP out, I might try that...

The sizzling really isn't ideal for stealth so it would be nice to find an easy fix.

Does the battery no harm imo, just make sure to charge after and it will be green by the time you want more

Popular advice is to let it charge fully before starting your relationship with the PAX. I am very intrigued by the Cera as well (on my short list) but with the look of the PAX and instant gratification bonus here I am. I would suggest giving the Vaporpedia page a once over: http://vaporpedia.com/wiki/Pax

Third pax is a let down. Going on 1 hour 50 minutes on the charger, just took it off and shook it, its still yellow. What the fucking fuck. I dont fucking get it. Are you all positive when you are getting an hour charge, that you are depleting it completely first? I mean dead. I used mine until it powered down on its own. Please help guys, I really don't want to send this back if I don't have to. Im betting its going back. I wont be getting another Pax if this one goes back.

Is it a new Pax? I had the same issue at the first charge, but all was fine after an overnight charge. After the first multi-hour charge, I had zero issues.

Edit: sorry, I misread your post and now see its your 3rd Pax. Very weird. Sorry you're having trouble.

thanks for the tip I'll see what that does. I charged it earlier, this is my second pax to do this. I never overnight charged the last one though. Ill give it a shot. I want to cry.

*gulp* I'm getting my replacement pax due to the rubberband issue. Though, I have observed there is a bug on displaying charge. Let it sit turned off, and off the charger for a minute or two. Then turn it on and give it a shake.

Ill give it a shot. Its fucking rediculous, third pax in 2 weeks. This thing needs a overhaul. I cannot wait for a new Pax to come out.

Have you always used the same outlet?

same room- but different oulets. On the second model i tried 3 different spots, 6 differnt outlets total haha. I feel like this is some sort of bug, its like 2 hours on the dot every time- I am going to trouble shoot some more. I think leaving on a charger all night might work, or at least leave it on long enough to fill it completely until it begins a trickle charge. I have been reading about batteries, I have no idea what I am talking about haha just somthing I heard exhisted:lol:

Mr.Krinkle,

welderboy

its 4:20 somewhere.....
i just timed mine the other day, i ran it dead flat on party mode and it took 1hr 10min to get to green again. there is such a thing as "dirty electricity", but i dont know if it would apply to a charger. try charging it at another house.

Mr. Krinkle, I'm sorry to hear about your problems. I know what it's like to have problems with a vape (not the pax though). Hopefully everything will get resolved.

Mine, I use it and then return it to the charger when able. I can't recall it ever running out of juice; I leave it on the charger unless i'm using it. Not exactly sure how long it lasts or takes to charge, but i have not run out of juice or had problems with charging it. Consider leaving it on the charger unless it's being used and see if that helps or not.

Hi boyos. Had my Pax for about a month now and love it. I wanted to leave two tips: If your mouthpiece isn't staying down and you don't have any PG (propylene glycol) lying around, a small amount of PG-based ecigarette liquid to the sliding ring-mechanism is an effective lubricant. Remember to lube the piston, not the outer ring. Tip two is to use a length of nylon weedwacker cord for cleaning purposes. I've got a short length in my film canister for stirring botanicals and cleaning the oven (the ridges are great for scraping out the corners after a super-tight pack), a longer length in my Pax box for breach cleaning with iso-soaked cotton. Hope this helps some people. Love the forum.

One final question of the day. I use a convertor (car to wall outlet equivalent) in my 12V plug in the car while running. Can I charge the pax correctly, using this while in the car? I have used the convertor to charge laptops and other items, but being that the pax charger is so fickle, I was wondering if anyone tested this out. Thanks, Noob at forums and 3 week pax lover.

The 12V, car converted to wall outlet in the car does not have enough power to charge the PAX. The conversion leaves the charger with less power, and doesnt charge it correctly. I would advise not using a converter.

That being said, is PAX working on a car charger for the PAX?

My intended use for the PAX is discretion, which is why I purchased it, and it is hard to be discrete with the PAX while charging because wherever the outlet is, whenever someone sees it they touch it because it looks so cool. This ultimately leads to them smelling it, which results in undesired explanation.

Not true. I've been charging both my Pax units this way with no issues since they first came out many moons ago.

Have you been using a wall plugin and use the plug charge? or the 1.33 mm charge and pluging that into the base?
I was not referring to the latter.

My replacement charged from red to green in about an hour :/ make sure your charger is fully connected?
Also this one has more of a rough, dotty finish instead of my last one that was smooth and stripey. which is the new variety?

I have been using the Pax supplied wall charger plugged into a converter that is powered by the 12V system in my vehicle. More than capable of charging the Pax.
