Is it just dirty af? Has it ever been cleaned? Could be you just have a bunch of concentrate in the tube...
Is it still under warranty? My first EVO (from the campaign) melted at the top where the plastic meets the glass "bamboo". It was replaced for free, and still retains the original S/N.
The test that was recommended to you was to see if the glass tube in the middle...the bamboo...is broken/cracked.Nope, warranty is done. Purchased this unit in 2015.
Just purchased a replacement unit instead.

Smoke and bad smell say electronics to me and there is indeed an electronics board in there. Not overheating the electronics is one reason they have a shut off timer and the reason they don't recommend leaving the unit upside down on a rig.

Best advice I've seen is contact VapeXhale with your serial number and talk to them about the issues. The EVO has underwent many running changes over the years and some earlier models are not serviceable. In that case, EVO typically offers a new one discounted. If serviceable then they provide repair estimate costs. Much of this on their website too (repair fee costs by component).Thanks, that sounds very likely. I see behind the knob is a castle nut. A quick tug of the knob will pull it off the switch and then get in and loosen the castle nut. From there you should be able to align the switch (shoot for the corner if you don't have any better measurement) and re-tighten the castle nut.Just received my replacement unit today.
The knob however, is misaligned - the white line that indicates the middle locks in at around 11 o clock.
Anyone have this issue before?

The nut appears to hold the switch to the body. Probably need to get inside the shell if a loose castle nut doesn't make the switch position adjustable. One could reach out to VapeXhale customer service too for this issue...it's actually really hard to move the switch... the nut does nothing really lol

I agree with it's a powerful vape, but I personally enjoy being consistent with my temps; I want to stay at 365, no hotter.People have tested power draw on the heater which helps show the EVO heater performance well (it's in this owner thread). The EVO has most powerful rated vape heater I've seen at 250 watts... but the max measured power draw reported has been 100 watts (it's throttled back). That's the rated power (100 watts) of a FlowerPot RDK300a/b PID in recommended configuration fyi.
In draws (even the biggest), the max measured power draw has been in the 30 watt range, indicating the heater can keep up impressively adequately for all draws. The temp sensor seems fairly responsive as well. Early EVO literature put out to the public touted that (here in this thread too), even in back to back large group use, they had not been able to lower the temp enough that the heater could not keep up ... triggering the EVO temp sensor (red indicates the EVO is not at the set temp, heating or cooling). The EVO heater is quite large on inspection, with a big ceramic core and reflective metal too. I don't doubt the bamboo venturi effect aids the performance as well. The EVO is a monster efficient/strong extractor in my experience.

In all honesty, if your happy with how your getting extraction and the color of the ABV is where you want it then the exact temperature really isn't that important. That's just my .02 cents.
Well, that's going to be difficult with the Cloud Evo. I tried using a IR gun, but never can get accurate reads. The Cloud Evo sells a heat shied with Fahrenheit degrees on it, which only gives you three basic temps.I understand it may not be important to most, but I do care about the precision of temperature that I'm extracting at

You'd need temp sensors inside the herb chamber to see the temp of the air being pulled through the herb.I agree the heat shield isn't a good indicator.
how would one test this accurately?
