Alright, here it is.
Whistle compression:

I too ahve an OG and a new one from last month. I loled when "newer cloud evo" transitioned in I expected cloud evo v2 or something like that haha

The newer evo definitely still whistles, but it's superrrr minor like what your video showed. 100% better quality of life

Have you guys tried the new helio? I had the graphite helio that I just broke, and the new one that came in is slimmer/smaller, while mouth hole is bigger. It definitely pulls nicer than the old one!

anyone use a smokebuddy? I just got mine and it's wet inside.. fucking disappointed in the amazon seller.
I've bought a few of them but I got mine from their website. I think the jr is the best and the normal is not bad but I dont like the large one. Seems like its harder to exhale through. None of mine were ever wet inside though, i would be pissed as well. They work good if youre visiting family that's not down or in a hotel

Happy EVO Friday . Been lurking for a while. I've been enjoying the EVO regularly and it's still pretty perfect here. It's easy to use, safe, powerful, flexible and with clean glass it gives really excellent pure flavors. I'm just off a typical 4 day vaping break here and am HAF right now on 0.05 grams :science::science:.

I really appreciate how crazy consistent the EVO is as well. The EVO heatsoaks but it's no issue in most any of my use. With a fresh 1/4 ELB or less in first session or draws, I do like to heatsoak the EVO for 15 minutes or more (I use Boveda stored fresh cannabis and I like a coarse grind so it's moist), but once in a while I don't even do that. On late nights when I want one more little bump, I typically go with a small fresh 0.015 g ELB and forgo any extra heat-up-time/heatsoak. I can get it up and down fast, it's not much bother to simply do a few more draws and everything's good :leaf:. My vaping routine has evolved to be pretty flexible on heat-up time and heatsoak with the EVO. At higher temps (I temp step), I realized I can vape as soon as the heater shows the green LED from cold, ~3 or so minutes) and I still get all the extraction I need/want. As well, I can always adjust the temp a bit up if I want to adjust for a short heat-up time. I find the consistency of the EVO really comes through in such use and adjustments. Such flexibility and consistency makes it easy/simple to dial in an optimum experience 🎯. Thx @Socks And Sandals for the last post detailed settings and use feedback, and others for doing the same. The EVO is very flexible in use and so many different ways. I too put the ELB in the heater only when I go to vape and remove it immediately after. Pure convection. Otherwise some conduction can occur as the EVO heatsoaks.

Let me highlight the cleaning routine as well with the EVO... the one I've settled into at this time is spectacular (and that's important to me). I really like clean everything in vaping, and I clean everything after three days of use. With that frequency, I went with cleaning methods incorporating a combination of low effort and high quality. I currently use PBW with hot water and an ultrasonic cleaner. Two three minutes cycles for everything but the hydratubes. The glass nail was stubborn at times and it turned out I needed a bit more PBW powder (I only eyeball measure). Now with any stubborn glass nail, I add PBW powder to the solution and select for one more 8 minute cycle. Next, I re-use that PBW water and residue to clean my hydratube(s), giving it a five minute internal soak in two orientations in the sink. After that, rinse. Everything is clean clean (the ELB, VapeXnails, Helio dry mouthpiece... it too goes in the ultrasonic cleaner). The ultrasonic cleaner has discolored the Helio logo a bit and the glass has some light scratches from wear-and-tear in use over the last near two years, but that's it.

I really enjoy the flavors vaping with the EVO. The diesel related strains really do have such flavors imo. Same with pinene, limonene (terpenes), etc.

Nuff of that. May you all have good EVO vaping experiences. Hey @jerri, have any EVO hash stories yet? Let us know @dmvision54 how it goes with the EVO. What's new @Relaxed? Nice @mosh... you may like @macbill's brushes too (they have bristles on the tip as well so they clean the bottom of the ELB/vapexnail, cheap too). That's a big whistle on the one. I appreciate quiet and have posted about my EVO's variable whistle performance. Lately, after a number of months of some EVO whistling, it's been back to quiet in the last month. Ah, the peace :). What's going on out there in EVO vaping land?

Enjoy the weekend all :peace: :leaf:.

Longtime lurker too, and when I cleaned the glass yesterday afternoon I thought to myself "happy EVO Friday...."

Packing some super sour diesel right now!

Pulled the trigger, decided it was time ... and ordered my first desktop, Cloud Evo

I come from quite some portables, i tend to value conduction over convection (less harsh on throat & easier to go hi-temp)
I love pushing the limit with butane vapes (go Lotus), so i love my "unregulated" vapes (yes MFLB is also unregulated :) ) also, but not to insane levels (MFLB can't hold a candle to Grasshopper for example) same goes for conduction vs convection (the dux MFLB loses to the vex GH) but still, regarding taste, i think a dux IQ has better lasting taste vs vex GH, IMHO. Mixed vapes (hybrid: Mighty) are a mixed bag, as are my feelings toward these vapes

regarding desktops, my shortlist was:
- Volcano (bags, smh ... )
- SSV (outdated? Glass bead mod was attractive)
- Log vape (heatup/heatsoak time, bowl size)
- FP (too "industrial")
- EQ (poor man's Evo?)

In short, read the forum, tried to find valid points/preferences, ended up with Cloud Evo vs the list above, EVO won

I hope you will like the Evo, it's not in the slightest a condition device though. IMO this has the best flavour from my collection, but I like high temps too so don't think I can call myself a flavour guy

I'd say so. Congratulations!

With your butane vape love look at the high temp one-hitter full extraction settings recommended for the EVO. Find the right temp and ELB amount and you'll be blowing huge full spectrum clouds.

If you want more conduction leave the ELB in the bamboo.

As for your shortlist, I see the EVO as a premium endgame vape option and the rest...
-Volcano (endgame with bags, not for me)
-SSV (cheaper EVO, with less evolved ecosystem and attachments)
-Log vape (not as good with concentrates and many designs lead to scooby snacks)
-FP (endgame vape that's a large burn/fire hazard)
- EQ (Poor man's Volcano)

Cheers and enjoy.

Based on that I’m thinking you might have liked the Volcano. If you want “lasting taste” across a session, bag vapes are ideal for that.

That said, I don’t think you really could go wrong with any desktop on your list. Enjoy!!

So...I put the OG EVO back to rotation and used it for a week straight and I found some interesting things...
The older unit is running hotter, perhaps quite much hotter, I like the 12 dail but on the older unit it felt more like 1 or perhaps 2? I usually heatsoak my EVO and let it sit for hours, its just how I roll, I want to be able to use it all the time and for years its working without issues, I guess the power here is indeed good. The whistle is far stronger on the older unit, which makes the new one more stealth haha.
The interesting thing tho, the newer unit, I can spin the bamboo, I don't know if that's ok, but the seal is still in tact, but I can move the bamboo and something it moves while I have the HT connected and its a bit scary but I use paraffin oil so its all good...However, this I did notice, the drag/draw resistant is much worse on the new unit, the older unit draw resistant is better and I wonder if its related to the spin bamboo...Also the newer evo, the bamboo sticks out more, I can also adjust it and push it up and down a little bit... not sure how bad this is, but the unit has been running for years without issues, it just that I found the older unit to have less of a drag and it runs hotter.

It took me a day to get used to the new unit, after going on an higher temp with the older EVO, kinda wanna makes me bump the temp a bit, but I do prefer the taste and overall I think 12 is good enough on the new unit.

Here is the picture to show the difference in height for the bamboo (newer on the left)

and the spinning bamboo.

Please note that both EVO original bamboo was broken and replaced by Vapefiend.

Mine is about 1-1/2 years old and has just loosened up a bit to where the bamboo will spin. Certainly not freely, but it does rotate, and when it does, there's a grinding type sound that grates on me.

Vapexhale said send it in, it's probably cracked bamboo, but my seal is also fine. Maybe they changed adhesives at some point and are just finding the results now?

It's been in daily use since I 3d printed a hanging stand and put it on a smart plug to keep it going from 4-9pm everyday. A silicone whip and a nebula mouthpiece has been delightful.

I'll miss it until it returns...

@mustacheemperor, super sour diesel... Mmmm, nice. Those diesel flavors and aromas :brow:....

Enjoy the EVOs @mosh. As @MonkeyTime mentions, VapeXhale uses an adhesive to bind the bamboo to the coil heater in the EVO. Usually the heater is glued to the glass bamboo tube but it can come free over time and so the bamboo then tends to spin. And thus the bamboo can become move-able up and down as well. It's not great to spin glass against the heater (that grinding sound @MonkeyTime is the metal coil wrap literally grinding against the bamboo glass). It could be that the Vapefiend repair didn't use any adhesive when they replaced the bamboo. Strange to hear about the different draw resistance. It wouldn't be the bamboo spin, but there were a number of running updates in the design of the bamboo over the EVO years. If temps feel different between the two EVOs definitely bump the temp dial up a bit on the cooler one and see how it goes (and let us know).

@MonkeyTime, if your EVO bamboo seals (try testing both cold and when the heater is on and to temp), then it sounds like you're fine and have an intact bamboo that isn't cracked. Spinning of the bamboo should be avoided (especially if it grinds). Nothing appears to have been significantly impacted, yet. The bamboo may last forever, or it may not. The bamboo adhesive is not the strongest stuff as it's hard to glue to glass; it can come loose with good twist, like a bottle cap. It sounds like lots of owners get some bamboo play over time. I'd run with it until the EVO actually breaks down, but to each their own.

Are you enjoying the EVO @disruptxd?

The bamboo of my last Evo turned a few mm but I didn't want to force it. As far as the whistle goes.. and after being through 3 Evo Units myself, I can say that the whistling sound will eventually completely go away within 3 to 6 months or at least this has what happened consistently with me.

Have any of you have your Evo longer than 6 months and is it still whistling? Has anyone ever received a unit that just didn't whistle? All of mine did at the beginning.

Mine still whistles, it's a fair but easily achievable pull to get it.

There were a string of posts a while back discussing methods of quieting or eliminating the whistle. I tried a few, and they worked, but always at the expense if air flow, so no go.

One method I tried was using the Sleeve with the velcro attached tightly around the bottom. If using the evo while holding it you can use that velcro flap as a sort of carb if you will. It will restrict airflow a little bit but you can feather it so it doesn't whistle. Either way, I hope it goes away for you, I really think it will.

So, thanks guys.
I wrote the same message (almost) to VapeXhale and they replied :

"Hi Mosh,

The bamboo shouldn't turn like that. You shouldn't turn it as it could shift the heater. You should not use it.

We are going to send you a new unit. We will get it out tomorrow.

As far as the whistle, it really depends upon the bamboo. They are all hand blown glass and vary slightly which can increase or decrease the whistle . We have tried to minimize the whistle but it is the air passing thru the constriction that causes it.

Thanks"

I have been using this for more than a year like that IMO.
I will not use it anymore, but man, VapeXhale is surely doing a great job @ supporting....

The thing I love most about this community is the ability to help and the feeling that nobody is just about to take your money.

When I feel that they care for me, its when I can even shed a tear.

So thanks in advance!

I posted recently that mine is nearing two years old and has shown intermittent whistle behavior over time (and as recently as a few months back).

I too found that the sleeve velcro position can be manipulated to diminish bamboo whistling, but I usually don't remember and bother with that. YMMV.

Nice to hear about the good service @m0sh. Thx for sharing.

Congratulations @Reggie Watts 🎁! Enjoy and let us know what you think. That Precision Honeycomb piece is nice.

Hi, well the worst has happen my first EVO bamboo seal is broken.
I saw a small glass chip last night and wasn't sure, I didn't combust but I had to turn it down...I only checked seal today for some reason and some air escapes, tiny bits. turned it out a moment after.

Now I'm really sad :((((((((( I actually have 2 bad EVOs...
Its like a curse I brought on me.

I have a few due to my habit of collecting?
Good choice actually!
