Perhaps you only need it re calibrated? But the obvious questions first. Are you packing more per ELB or any denser materials than beforehabd? That would be the simplistic explanation to the scorch on bottom/light on top. I get that kind of problem, if the pack is too dense for the air to pass thru.
I thought it was very smooth myself. But only got the unit without the whip and have been Gong with it. Do you think it keeps the potency after filtering? Some water pieces seem to strip out too much.
Is it clean? (sounds like it's malfunctioning ... but maybe if it was really dirty around the smaller orifices ...)
I understand the warranty is over. But you could chat or email XHL and tell them what you are experiencing and possible options.
I'm no expert on this subject at all but @herbivore21 knows a good bit and may weigh in......but its my impression that; 1) vaping any ISO residue is a very bad idea and; 2) you can't purge an ISO extraction reliably without vacuum as well as heat.Free dab!!!

I cleaned my HT and man, that was worth it!!! almost a 1g of resin.
I think I finally found out my best method for re claiming.
My method for glory :
First off, wash with ISO 99%, shake the damn thing! be sure to sell the bottom (much more important than top)
I would say this is fine for reclaiming, but in case you want to clean the HT, make sure you dip it (still sealed) in bowl of boiled water, just for a few moments and re shake.
After finishing this, take a glass bowl/jar and spill the brown liquid to it.
Now, I prefer to leave the bowl for a night or 2, somewhere safe, so the liquid can evaporate, but I guess, my next step could work as well.
The next step would be to turn on your oven and set it to 90C (or 195F) and once its heated, insert the glass bowl/jar inside.
I'd give it 10 minutes and be done with it, you can see the resin turning into oil and be happy, its not safe for vaping
Cool the bowl/jar and once its in the room temperature more or less, put it in your freezer, for an overnight I'd say.
Come morning, take the glass bowl/jar out of the freezer and work fast.
Try "breaking" the sticky resin from the glass and quickly store it in a container of your choice.
I would leave it in the freezer since its so sticky.
You can also scrape the glass bowl/jar before freezing it, but you'll lose some oil in between. (I did that mistake last time)

All of the seconds I have seen on here have been really high quality with very minor blemishes. I remember someone here even returned one because it had a hole or didn’t function right and and VXL sent him another one no problem.
years ago I had a iso-2 in 1977 and the directions said put a few drops of distilled water in the oil and keep on heating the oil until the water disappeared they said the iso alcohol was gone. I made a lot of hash and hash oil with that unit before I sold it. sometimes I wish I still had it.
