I like how you casually snuck in that little “Timber Classic to follow”. Pretty soon it will need to be “The Vapwood Collection”.
yeah, you picked that up... It will be too logical not too.

In the meantime, back on the Timber Elite front. Customers are awesome, full of great ideas, suggestions.
Customer requests Timber E that are in the works!

1. Waple - Figured Maple Bottom, Walnut Top
2. Black n' Tan: Blended Cherry and Walnut Bottom (3 layers)
and of course Cherry bottom Walnut Top

I'm going to build a small inventory of the above. Assembly is a a very different process. The more modular Timber Elite can be taken further before finally assembly. The upper section is pure coil housing, and can be finalized before final assembly, complete with coil installed. The cover plate and board can also be totally pre-assembled, as can the lower section which is mainly two mortises.

I just added the Waple and Black and Tan to the online store as well...

It's mostly going to be a two pocket carry because of the stem, but she passes the easy hike test here.

That is one of the prettiest vapes I've built to date. I love the figured or *dirty* maple. I have some of that left, but not much. I'm got that locally, at my friendly neighborhood exotic hardwood shop.

I want to move some Timber Elites, get a few in circulation. If I were a used car salesman I'd ask, "What do I have to do to put you in a Timber (coma)?" Is the answer a $50 off coupon on Timber only? Think of it as a pre-sale sale, even though production has started.

CODE: TE50 saves $50* on all Timber Elites - offer ends 7/31
This code is FC only!

After working on some Timber E bodies, adding Black n' Tans and Waples, I'm excited, once again, about blending wood. I'm also going to offer the Timber Elite as a custom built item, no sales or coupon codes.

Custom Timber Elite: starts at $269 BB / $299 Complete
Not in stock, custom built with a 30 day wait / Have a blend or wood in mind, just ask.

1. Lower Section
Cherry, Figured Maple, Black n' Tan (add $20), Koa (add $20)

2. Upper Section
Walnut, Cherry, Figured Maple

3. Cover Plate
Walnut, Cherry, Maple

4. Back Plate
Walnut, Cherry, Maple

Other combinations are possible. PM me and let me know what you're thinking about, and I can quote you a price. The modular nature of the Timber should make this a viable option here on FC. I've put together a couple of black and tans, very sweet effect with three 16 mm stripes (Cherry, Walnut, Cherry, with Walnut Top and Plates, Light Buttons). Top sections need to be one solid piece of wood, no blends. Different options may affect wait time due to inventory levels. For now this is a pilot program, and we'll see how it works out.

Suddenly Vapwood has a line up.

Thanks to @Alan 's imagination for igniting mine, but I've got some cool ideas on the horizon. I have to tell myself, one day at a time. Today, however, is all about the Lil' Bud and Timber Elite. I'm still inventory obsessed, but boards and other parts are expensive. I am going to stick with the cheaper pre-assembly strategy (wood body only). I've got good stock on pre-assembled LB Elites, and some stock on Timbers (pics coming soon). Nice thing about Timber, wood is a bit easier to stock. People like to point out how tall the Timber is. I can think of numerous top rated vaporizers that are just about six inches tall, and never a mention on the height. If you like short and fat, you're a LB lover, if you like long and lean, you're a Timber chaser. Both will serve you very well for many years.

I've been testing the Elite prototype with the flipped fire button. I have to say that like it a lot. It has become mostly a thumb operated fire button unit. I'm going to offer the flipped button as an optional upgrade on the LB Elite. The adjustment happens right at final assembly, so all of my pre-assembled units have the option of upper fire button placement. Today, I'm still working on Timber inventory. Tomorrow, I start putting together the August batch of LB Elites and Classics.

2 coupon codes in effect
1. HAIKU save 10% site wide
2. TE50 save $50 on Timber E (expires tonight at midnight)
(cannot be combined)

@Bravesst I can't tell from reading this, but will the Timber be limited to a flipped switch button using the thumb? That may be a deal breaker for me. I would have no problems paying for customization so that I could use my fingers and not my thumb to initiate the wonder that is Vapwood.

Sorry... @beyond6strings

I had computer problems after typing *sorry*, not sure how it got posted.

Sorry for not being clear. The fire button on the Timber is mid unit (top of board). It can really be fired with any finger, including the thumb. This is the most logical place to place it on Timber by default. I was talking about flipping the board on an LB Elite prototype.

With that said, I added 8 Timber Elites to inventory today, fire button just about dead center. I love the Black and Tans. Bottom section Cherry / Walnut / Cherry with walnut cover plate and back plate, Walnut top.

...towards the answer.

No difference to me which way button goes . From a button only comes at the bottom on the LB Elite originally, Odd it can't be as such for the Timber . :2c:

....Perhaps many believed, not everybody were as vocal as some of us did ;)

A bit of a misunderstanding on the Timber button placement. It would be silly to put the fire button so low on the Timber. Where it is now allows you to use just about any finger to fire it up, pinky, ring, middle, index, thumb. Lots of room for hand placement above and below. Timber is ergonomic heaven.

8 Timber E's pre-assembled today. I held up on pics until I sand some more and can apply beeswax. The Black n' Tan is so sweet, virtually all walnut with two wide cherry stripes. The back plate is now held in place with 3 magnets for an even snappier fit. Even removal of the back plate has been ergonomically improved, as a simple slide of the thumb on the top of the plate (where it meets the top section) will dislodge it. This is turning out to be a highly evolved vape.

I believe thumbs are used in most devises. Thumbs up for the Timber Elite!

I'm not trying to be a prick. I am a professional guitarist and have really bad tendinitis in both hands, but especially my right hand thumb, dominant thumb, and the most important digit as a classical guitarist.

I've been wanting a Timber since Mike first mentioned the idea in the winter of '18. And I've been wanting one precisely because of the better ergonomics offered by the narrower profile. I love my LB but some days it gives my hands fits.

I'm happy to now read that the Timber is multi-digit friendly, but from the way the thread was going it was not readily apparent.

Cheers FCers

Glad we got that fire button placement settled - top half of the bottom section, which results in about dead center.

I wanted to wait until final finish, but I couldn't help myself.

Vapwood has a line up:

Lil' Bud Classic - The mother of unregulated on demand convection devices. The LB Classic goes from zero to sixty in seconds, due to the mass of the insta heat stainless steel coil. Vapwood has proven an ALL wood, adhesive free body is possible within the handcrafted hardwood form. Beautiful, functional, and affordable, the LB Classic is a right choice for high performance on a lower budget. - LB Classic Complete: $199 (coupon code AUGUSTUS)

Lil' Bud Elite - Talk about taking things to the next level! LB Elite does all the work for you. Equipped with the state of the art control board from Evolv, the DNA 75C, a revolutionary progressive vape management system, housed in the SAME all handcrafted hardwood body (plus about a half inch). For those of us who just want to hit the button and inhale, the Elite's got your back. LB Elite Complete: $329

Timber Elite - This was the original concept 2 years ago that just needed some time to evolve. The Timber Elite is very simply an all wood mod box and coil housing that is hand crafted in an all hardwood design. The DNA 75 color control board (perfectly preprogrammed for cannabis) sits side by side with the an 18650 li ion battery, and the stainless steel insta heat perches on top. This set up is the epitome of practical function. It allows a higher volume of heat to reach the roasting tube, with a very smooth and even flow. Board and battery stay very cool. The unit measures 6 inches tall, but an impressive 1 3/4 x 1 1/8 around, with very soft edges, making it easy to hold and operate. Timber Elite Complete: $299

For now, that's it, but I have to tell you there are other very cool things brewing at Vapwood.

Just dropped by to let you enthusiasts know that PIU has an IG stream posted (1 of 2 currently up), wherein, the two were lent an Elite to try. Super laid-back stream where they use the Elite for the 1st time & their initial impressions. You really get to see it up close -- & they got great cameras. It's both a nice & informative stream. Check it out if you have time & it's still up. Good stuff.

I know there are a lot of folks on this thread that are using glass liners in their stems. Me too. You should know that you can collect that honey by dropping the stems into coffee and letting them simmer for a few minutes. I did that for this morning's coffee and it's a wonderful high. I just put two stems in a cup's worth of coffee that I had simmering in a pan for about 10 minutes and the stems were clean as a whistle. I ran a bristled brush with a bit of Dawn soap on it through the stems a couple of times and now they're sparkling clean and I'm baked as can be.

It's just one more way the Elite or Classic can get you what you want!

Remember the 3 basics when using an on demand convection device, whether regulated or unregulated.

PRODUCT
Product should dried out (left out for a bit or under a light bulb), with a medium fine to fine grind. Loading too heavy (around .01 is ideal) will interfere with air flow, which is everything in a convection device. You'll be amazed at how many sips or rips you can get out of a tenth of a gram. Tamping too tightly will do the same thing. You have to think of this as an espresso machine, where an even grind and tamp is key to good results. Clumps, chunks, too tight, is not conducive to even air flow through the product. There is nothing cooking the weed from the sides. That's why it tastes so pure, and is so incredibly efficient. If there is uneveness, the hot air will find it, and take the path of least resistance. If loaded too loosely, the heat energy can't hover in the load long enough to get good even ABV. Load properly for best results.

DRAW SPEED / POWER
There are many styles to vaping LB and Timber, but a slow steady pull gives you control. With the regulated Elite, the circuit board provides parameters that the unit will operate under, whether that be temp or power related, but even so, you still must control the draw. But a slow draw speed doesn't mean weak. You can get a good pull, creating a strong vacuum, at any rate of speed. With the Elite, lower settings makes combustion very difficult, even for novices. It's quite easy to dial in quickly.

CLEAN SCREEN
Virtually the only maintenance you need to perform is to ensure a clean screen. Some strains I've used barely gum up the screen at all, and I can go 2 weeks with one screen. Others seem a bit gummier. Either way, without a nice open draw, the hot air doesn't cook properly, and results suffer.

America is fierce with competition - a good thing. When a new product arrives on the market, it can quickly be crushed by misinformation / propaganda (not so good), which is what almost happened to Lil' Bud and Vapwood, but we persevered. Today, almost two years later, we've clearly set ourselves apart from all the bad info, and are a major player in the wood on demand convection vape market. I'd like to dispel some information, at least here on FC.

6 VAPWOOD MYTHS DISPELLED
Coil Too Small
- not sure where this one came from, but the SS wire mesh coil measures approximately 1/2" x 4", expertly rolled into a perfect spiral coil with 3 layers out from center. The HIGH MASS coil sits vertically in its compartment, exposing all surfaces to the wide open roasting tube. It truly is a powerhouse.

Hot and Harsh - This comment comes from user error and the usually results when a new user attempts to make a Vapwood product behave like other non pure convection vapes. Load light, tamp just right - hot and harsh disappears. It's that simple. You can still pull 10 good hits from under a tenth of a gram.

You Need Glass or Metal - The LB Classic proved it, no glass needed. The 19/22 taper can be cut directly into the wood body, eliminating the need for glass. So why is glass not optimal? First, the obvious reason, it's fragile. In addition, while the glass insert is there to protect the wood, ironically glass does nothing to stop radiant heat. Our wood oven is lined with stainless steel foil, which reflects the radiant heat back at the coil. Glass, on the other hand, is a heat sync, and will steal heat, drain the battery, and reduce overall efficiency.

You Should Get 3 or 4 Sessions From One Battery Charge -
The OG Classic did pretty well here, but the Elite with the DNA board manages battery life to where I get about 8 sessions per charge on very old batts. This is the proof of no heat energy leaking, causing the battery to drain rapidly. All internal connections are sound. Resistance is low as it can be. With each design there has been improvement here. The Timber runs super cool all the time, and is super efficient. I find myself forgetting about the battery. This is an on demand device, the battery is resting between each hit, and should last long.

Timber is too Tall - Not to mention any other vapes, but do the research on vape sizes, before you making an across the board statement. We have have size and shape preferences, but you'll find that many high quality, top sellers, are just about six inches long. Timber Elite is a big experience. It needs an appropriate housing to optimally harness the energy to turn flower into vapor, on demand, and it fits in your hand so nicely.

LB Elite is too Wide - *same as above*

I wouldn't let it get to you @Bravesst everyone has their own opinions about a vape. Mighty is huge and people love it.

It reminded me of the Burger King commercial

Maybe for some it's not a myth?

It's all personal preference

There are other vaporizers in the Timber Elite’s height range, but I’m not aware of one that also has the same width and depth, especially with that extremely rectangular shape.

If this look is part of your vision I don’t want to change your mind about it; it seems like a great device and I think plenty of people will like it. I just can’t get behind calling it a “myth” that it’s too tall.

Not only is that an aesthetic opinion, but I think it’s based much more on the perceived height in relation to its own width and depth, and the fullness of the block from bottom to top may even add to that perception. Even vertical stripes like you have on your latest prototype can add to its tall, thin look.

That’s not necessarily bad and the people who love it should continue to love it, but the people who see it as “too tall” aren’t wrong either. :2c: :peace:

Glad to see others entering our Timber height discussion. Makes me wish I called it the Tallboy, but I had to follow the wood theme. It may be popular to use names like chip, stick, and twig that may shrink the perceived size of a unit, but the name Timber says TALL (vs too tall) from the get go. Tall is an accurate description, while too tall, in my opinion, is an opinion.

Good morning - it's coil day! Every batch has a coil day. I went from really dreading coil forming, to actually loving it. It actually is quite the remarkable feat, taking a flat strip of SS 316 wire mesh 1/2 x 4 inches, then soldering copper wire leads to each end. The fun part is rolling it by hand. It is almost impossible to describe that process. It's more of an art, than just a skill at this point.

Notice the verticality and depth, and how the coil sits perpendicular to wood disc (and consequently the roasting tube). This allows the high surface area of the wire mesh direct access to the weed that hovers above in the roasting tube. Hot air is not restricted, but wide open from disc to tip - a truly high volume heat potential. You'll find this exact same heating coil in Lil' Bud Classic, Elite, and Timber Elite.

That's what's on today's agenda. Next, it's time to start assemblies.

I know my limitations, and never, ever would have envisioned that heater. That is pure @Alan, and his generosity that allows me to share that with all of you. I have gotten quite good at forming it.

It's Sunday, so half day max. I pre-formed 12 coils. In other words, I still have to roll them up. It may not sound like a lot, but it involves 24 wires cut and tinned, 24 butt connectors drilled out and spread, along with 12 wire mesh 1/2 by 5 inch (closer to 5 inches). Right now everything is connected (soldered), but not rolled into the spiral shape. They look like mini tennis nets. Tomorrow morning, nice and fresh, I will form the coils. Since there seems to be a demand for coil porn, I'll post some cool shots.

We are off to a street fair, gonna be taking it easy with Mrs Vapwood the rest of the day...
