Good Morning Cannabis Lovers
Things are looking up, up, up in Vapwood. The Lil' Bud Elite has been getting noticed. Web traffic has picked up quite a bit, and both the Classic and Elite threads remain popular. When peeking around at *other* forums, LB finds his way into many discussions. I always think to myself, "How can the Elite not be one of the top vape on the market today?" Then I realize, it's only existed for six months.
There are many quality vaporizers out there today. Every user has individual preferences, and no vape can be everything to everybody, but the Elite can check all your boxes if you're a portable, on demand, convection snob, and love the purity and beauty of handcrafted hardwood.
On a side note, the manufacturer (me) is feeling much better, past this nasty little cold. I'm healthy as a fucking horse and ready to build the shit out of some Elites! I actually can't wait to finish shaping this batch. I've mentioned my *edge management system*, but this is really no joke, and will impact the beauty of your Buds.
When planing a rounded edge, you first create a multi-faceted series of straight edges. Planing isn't practical here, as the unit needs to stay square until it is cut to size, and planing a small piece of stock is not ideal, but I've come to realize that the same strategy for consistency works on a belt sander. The four long edges are most important (short edges just get broken, no actually rounded). Using a 90 degree stop, edges are taken down flat first, at about 3/32" in three passes per angle (at three or four different angles) with 320 grit sandpaper, applying just the right amount of even pressure. A visual check on the edges verifies all is well. Next, a simple rotary motion over the mutli facets produces a very smooth quarter round corner. This applies to both the front and back of the Elite at the cover plate and back plate. All of this is done after the back plates, but before the cover plates are installed. All sanding eventually comes down to sand sponges and sand paper, but that will happen as the cover plates are installed / fitted.
If that was too much detail, just know it's all about making the Elite even prettier.
