Discontinued The Grasshopper

Ooh. Painful. You must have angered the vaporizer deities somehow..
It's likely they noticed I was using them too much. It's not really painful, more so disappointing.
It undermines my appreciation of having these devices as a final go-to solution.
If at best they last three or four months, or need any form of repetative servicing, HL will go bust .
If HL want to survive in the electronics world, they need to be extremely reliable, anything over a 10% failure rate will end any production. I'm assuming it's not a device that can really handle the stresses of real world use. But whilst they're offering it I'm in, until the next good design comes along.

So far I haven't had a body last longer than about a month. And I really can't say I expect my 3rd body I'm on now to last any longer, so I feel where you're coming from. If this goes down I'm not sure what portable solution I'll try next...Milaana/Zion seem like the next best thing to me, but from what I've heard they're having a ton of problems too, so...ugh. I just want a perfect and reliable convection vape! Is that sooooo much to ask for? lol first world problems

I think once GH mature, and it's seeming like they have a chance to considering their ability to keep at it all these years, their design should hold up. I think they are currently let down by size of production and experience of workers (not just US side, but outsourced manufacturers are dealing with the same demand).
They certainly have all the equipment needed for good service and acceptable quality assurance, I'm hopeful they pull it together.

It'll be fun to see what happens, but I know whatever I replace my hoppers with will either be a bic and bowl (unlikely) or a VapeXhale portable, pax 3 or some other new-fangled unreleased device. Nothing out there quite compares just yet.

My EQ will keep on rocking endlessly, I just need a next tier vape as immortal

I'll be really disappointed if Hopper Labs does fail. There are other vapes to try but I've yet to find any that hit me nearly as hard as the GH. My modded EQ doesn't even compare in terms of efficiency and enjoyment of the session

Absolutely agree. I've given HL quite a bit of support I feel, and really the only thing I can fault them with is they don't offer perfection. Going without their device for a few weeks is frustrating, even with back ups. What the hopper does is exactly what I want from a herb vape, it's just a pity they aren't super robust

OK Guys...Talk me into buying a Hopper. I have a Milaana, Mighty, all of the butane vapes and a bunch of others. BUT this seems like the best concert vape around. I am going to have to smuggle in either the Mighty (too $$$ to lose!), the Haze (Conduction) or the Milaana (glass parts). Because other people will be hitting it that don't vape that counts out the Milaana. They will surely combust and that tastes like Shit. So I think I will risk the Mighty down the pants but I would MUCH rather risk a $200 pen shaped easy to conceal vape.
Other than concerts would I get much use out of a GH? I have an Evo and supreme V3 to compete with at home so competition is tough there but on the road I could see this as a winner. I know it will die, and I will send it in. But I do not rely on any 1 vape any don't care THAT much as long as it get resolved repeatedly. But if it's that unreliable right now maybe I should wait?

For a stealth vape it is nearly unbeatable. However direct use is sub-par. Tolerable easily, but not as pleasant as is ideal.
A big convection desktop unit with a hopper on the side would be ideal. Plus if you're not using it daily I'm sure it would last much better.
They're a good vape, perfect for any situation basically.

Best concert vape? Yeah, hands down, nothing else will beat it in that kind of stealth scenario.

At home? With the Milaana and Logs and Lotus etc I basically never use it. When I do use it at home it's always through water. Using it dry is super hot and not as tasty as pretty much any other vape I have.

I find the compromises the GH has are totally fine with what it brings to stealth situations, but not worth dealing with when stealth isn't a factor.

And don't get me wrong, there are other pros like how easy it is to clean and how you almost never have to clean it anyways, how you can use both USB and external charging, etc, it's just when it comes down to it I still only use it on the go.

I wouldn't say I'm angry. If anything I feel kind of heartbroken I guess. I love my Grasshopper so much and want to have it forever, but I just feel like it is not fated to last
Cheer up a bit, Kalessin; as long as they honor the warranty process and don't close the doors, those of us who have hoppers - whether plagued with issues or not - will eventually get some satisfaction. And if they DO fold, the cat is out of the bag and it WILL come to pass that there will be products in the future that make the Hopper look like a has-been.

I don't know if I can fault a company for not offering perfection, per se; But I fault them for their unappealing customer interface. OK, maybe they have Facebook (I don't use FB, I prefer to call it AssBook), but I'm talking about the way you just don't feel like you're the most important thing to them.

To be fair, though, and to your point, Molten, If they came out with a flawless device and there was hardly a need for repair issues, then they don't "need" an appealing customer interface. We'd all be happy with if GHL was nothing more than a vending machine for great working Hoppers. Alas....

It'll be fun to see what happens, but I know whatever I replace my hoppers with will either be a bic and bowl (unlikely) or a VapeXhale portable, pax 3 or some other new-fangled unreleased device. Nothing out there quite compares just yet.

This is actually a very attractive thought.... I've always loved my Paxes because they were reliable and reliable. And reliable. And they played with us here on FC, helped us, informed us. They paid attention.
I take great pleasure in imagining the boys and girls at Pax learning all about the shit GHL has put people through, whilst working on their own convection vape, and I don't give a shit if it doesn't look like a pen; if it's stealthy and sweet and kicks ass, the Hopper will wind up in the drawer. And not because it's just better, but because I prefer the company.

It's just a dream.

Unless you absolutely have to have a stealthy vape you don't need a GH.
Well, that's subjective...I like mine better than all my other vapes in pretty much every criteria other than reliability, but I am in the minority there, obviously. Not being bothered by the heat of the vapor like most people probably helps there, it is perfectly smooth and comfortable for me. I just get more....I'm not exactly sure how to describe it. The hits are more satisfying to me. If I hit my Grasshopper I get a hit strong enough that I'm actually content to set it back down for minute or two. None of my other vapes give me the head-punch onset I need to overcome my tolerance that easily, I guess. My EQ comes closest, but even hitting the EQ straight from my glass wand bit it's hard to get the same kind of good, deeply satisfying hit my Grasshopper gives me without almost killing myself by overdoing the drag.

Can you just click to activate the hopper, take 2-3 puffs, turn it down, hide it in your pocket and do zhe same thing with 2h later?

Or do you have to vape the whole load in one?

Have you tried a Milaana?
No, the awful things I keep hearing about them have put me off trying it. Not to mention I prefer to have controlled temp settings, when possible. Probably the next on my list if Hopper Labs folds. Or maybe a Zion if they're out by then, since they do have temp regulation, right?

taste buds
@Kalessin get a butane powered vape. Those are reliable. Not like our GH.

I have a ti Vapcap, and I like it, but it does not taste as good, and I get frustrated having to stop what I'm doing to kill a bowl in it. I want a good portable electric convection vape, something I can just turn on and hit and turn off
Sticky Brick Junior. Butane powered on demand convection that fits in your pocket. Huge hits and smooth vapor. No moving parts, nothing to fail except user-replaceable glass which is nice and thick.

It's not nearly as stealthy as the Grasshopper. That's the area where it not only shines, but has almost no competition besides box mode concentrate vapes in my opinion. I'm sure many will disagree with that statement. I just think that the combination of the pen form factor, the fast heat up time, the precise temperature control, the potency of the vapor, and the fact that it's convection so it doesn't smell nearly as much, cause the Grasshopper to be in its own league in stealth as far as flower vaporizers.

I'm sorry to hear about your terrible luck @MoltenTiger, I hate to think about losing both of my hoppers in such a short span of time. Hopefully it doesn't take too long to get you up and running again. Perhaps try swapping backends in the meantime. Since you have different errors in each hopper perhaps you have one good backend and one good frontend.

Awful things?
Haven't paid a lot of attention to the RBT lineup since I'm giving my Hopper a chance to fail entirely before I get anything new, but in the course of viewing things on reddit randomly I've seen lots of people complaining about how the company owner has been, uhh, shall we say difficult towards prospective customers, and I've seen some pictures of fucked up internals, and heard that they came that way enough to be a significant problem. Though I maybe also heard some of that has been addressed? Can't remember. That's all anecdotal of course, but it's been enough static for me to hold off on ordering one as yet
