Hi to all,
4 years after its launch, i am always tempting to buy a Ti GH. I have never tried one, and after reading a lot of reviews, i have fear that the hot will be too incomfortable for me. I have a Mighty, a Solo, a Focus Vape,an Herbalaire....

Can someone tell me if the GH is very hot even if i take ONE LONG DRAW ?
because i have planned to use the GH as an 'instant vape' , not like a session vape. And if i can take one long draw at medium temp, and let the GH cool, it will be perfect for my use...

Also it seems that the PFE mouthpiece doesnt cool too much the vapor. Can you confirm this ?

From my experience, you'll be ok with just one long draw.

I also, was really hoping to buy a new one for Black Friday, but this was the next best thing...

I only have 2 batts so will have to hunt for more, likely... at least with how well this is performing so far, and how much I can envision myself using it. I definitely plan to pick up some accessories for this hopper in the immediate future, and if all goes well, I would love to buy brand new Ti at some point. Really hope to see all going upwards and onwards again at Hopper Labs!! :nod:

I have been wanting to try a GH for >3 years and do not regret at all that I waited until this point.

Thanks, everyone, for the supporting words. They mean more than you know. I want to give a direct shout out to the great people at Dynavap, who kindly sent us a package of Wisconsin cheese. We don't know them at all, and they were kind enough to send this care package.

We are making good progress and have shipping operations ready for accessories. The store has recently been reopened. Further, we are working on taking more inventory of damage and getting moved into an adjacent space for now.

Work on the batteries is already underway. We have had a few meetings with the factory and are working on a solution. In parallel, we are pursuing an alternative factory. We will have more detailed information and a timeline soon.

Thanks! Is there any clarification yet on if the batteries were the cause of the fire? (ie. does your battery manufacturer need to do something different and have better quality control, or do they just need to do the same thing to replace batteries that were fine but disposed of as a precaution? ... I realize you likely don't have an answer to this yet ... but hey ... can't hurt to ask! As if you are pursuing battery manufacturing, I would think this is an important piece of information prior to having the same manufacturer produce another batch?)

I was waiting for a nice black Friday sale to buy my first hopper but I knew with the fire it would be awhile. desperate to join the hopper family I purchased a lightly used titanium hopper here on the forums, but I am not sure if I am doing something wrong or if its DOA. I fully charged the 3 batteries, made sure everything is screwed on correctly and together no gaps. the unit clicks on with red lights and within a second or 2 she shuts off, I have tried with all 3 fully charged batteries. I tried multiple times same thing. any idea how to fix this? maybe I am doing something wrong? I want to try and get it going before I send back, I don't give up so easy, its a sweet looking vaporizer!!!!

Sounds like your hopper is probably DOA, but there are some things you can try before sending it back:
- Clean the backend threads (the screw bits between the body and the backend, both sides) as well as you can
- Try holding down the clicker, or otherwise pushing it (not hard) at an angle. I haven't heard this mentioned, but when I got a replacement backend it has a slightly temperamental connection, so will just turn off if the clicker is not lightly pushed to one side, sometimes. Play about with this and see if you can get it to stay on

Have you reached out to the seller to ask whether they had any tricks to getting it to work, or whether they knew of any issues prior to selling it? Worth trying.

TGIF. Off today and having work done on house soon. Went out for coffee before it starts and took a couple of hits from my Ti at 2.9 with a partially used load and man, the thing hit me like a brick! Granted I hadn’t partaken yesterday due to a very long work day but still. I’m flying now! My Hopper is still working well 2+ months back from RMA and simply loving it all over again! Keeping it at lower temps with a fully charged batt is wonderful all over again. :peace:

And clean the contact on the backend with light ISO or De-oxit (or similar). I do this every few months.

I’ve seldom done so down the bottom of the battery area on the positive contact but it’s another thing to consider...:peace:

We don't know what caused the fire at this time. We are working with the factory about the battery's safety to ensure everything is exactly the same as previous batches, which have proven to be very safe. We will likely produce new cells no matter what as it seems unlikely that a definitive cause will be located and customer safety must remain the highest priority.

I just sent HL a small donation as I didn't really need any accessories right now. I missed the Indiegogo campaign so I'm glad to contribute a little now. It's that good of a vape.

Saddened to hear about the recent events, but the transparency on Hopper Lab's end has been fantastic.
I really do love my hopper (and I'm pretty sure I have one of the older models) and love the work you guys put into this company, still pushing through despite the hardships.

I will try that, I spoke to seller he said everything was working fine before he sent it, I want to try to get it to work before I send it bank seller has no problem with refunding me. hopefully a little clean on contacts will get her going.
I bought an SS hopper secondhand that was also DOA when I got it, but I made sure to clean it out pretty thoroughly and tried the red/blue light fix from here and it works fine now.

HI Trevor - yes, George (the Prairie Home Companion of vapes! haha) and the Dynavap folks are indeed wonderful people and its so nice that they sent you a present to try to shine some sunlight into this dim time.

I just don't need any accessories, but had been planning to by a new GH, with the new heater and all of the improvements in assembly and reliability that you have told us about, on Black Friday.

Sadly, that just can't happen right now.

But, do let us know when you are back to building fully qualified GH's, and I will buy one.

Best I can do to help you out and yes, I do love my one working GH which after the last RMA must indeed have the new heater as its working wonderfully and is back to extracting like it did when new.

Often in these types of situations, the list of things to do/see to can get overwhelming.

My only advise is to take it one step at a time. Make a list of priorities and work them off as you go down the list and try not to look too much at the overall mess that has to be cleaned up. Just start and keep putting one foot in front of the other, accomplish one task then move to the next, and before you know it this will fade in your memory into just a bad dream.

I just can't believe how snake bit you guys are.....I mean, it really looked like the ship had been turned back on course and then wham, a Titanic iceberg hits you.

Bad shit does indeed happen to good people so no use, IME, wasting time with "why me's" (even though I do it all of the time! haha).

Best of luck and please do keep the communications channel open. I think you have seen how warmly manufactures are welcomed here on FC with just a bit of direct, honest, communications. I believe that if you keep these comm channels open, FC members will support your recovery efforts enthusiastically.

I had composed something earlier but deleted it before posting it. HL said the cause of the fire hasn’t been determined yet but they think it will never be determined? I’d give it a bit more time. As will I before I continue using my new batteries. They seemed fine to me but if I were HL I sure as hell would want to know the cause of the fire if it’s ever determined. I understand this may take time but HL is predisposed of thinking they may never know - and proceed working with the manufacturer as if business as usual. I think it’s s bit odd.

But that last not how I composed it earlier but the same gist. TGIF to all. :peace:

I was very sorry to hear about the fire. I'm glad no one was hurt, and am relieved that you are starting to recover.

I am somewhat concerned that I never received my order of 6 new batteries, which I placed on 1/23/2019 (order #47956). I sent an e-mail confirming my shipping address on 10/25/2019, and received a response stating "We will ship it out" on 10/28/2019. I never received the new batteries.

Do I need to contact Support again about this order? I want to make sure that my order will still be fulfilled when the dust settles and you start shipping new batteries again.

I also have a Hopper Battery Charger and wall wort on order, but I understand that those are in a holding pattern.

This is what I was referring to. I think “located” meant to be “determined” or perhaps a reference to where it exactly started, and thus how. :peace:

I really wouldn't take that to the bank.

The FD and their insurance will investigate and I believe that fire analysis is a pretty mature science but we will see.

Given that the fire did not spread due to lack of oxygen, I would think they could zero in on just where it started but I'm not a fireman.

My friend, I agree that HL has made a good bit of progress over what...the last four years.

I also share the huge disappointment of the recent fire pushing progress back just a bit.

What I do not agree with is that Hopper Lab's behavior over the past four years is somehow justified and just the nature of starting up a small business. This would incl pushing out some really crappy products, pushing out non-fixed or almost immediately failed RMA units, almost complete and total lack of basic CS functions, and their refusal to communicate with the owner community in any sort of dialog until just a few weeks ago.

Just my view.

My one properly working, multi-RMA GH is working brilliantly and I love as I did when I first got it.

My other, multi-RMA, one runs cold to the point of being unusable.

I would have bought a new one from them on Black Friday, but for the fire. I will wait and see now and offer my best wishes to them on their efforts to get up and running again.

I am using the new batteries just sent out....not encouraging anybody else to, but they are behaving just like every other Li battery I have owned and used.

I understand your point but I would ask you to consider that most startup/small businesses fake it til they make it.
Many product launches are straight up fudged, and the product doesn't work yet. I believe Apple had a situation like this with the original iPhone at its unveil.
Usually, bugs are worked out, and only early adopters (who are used to bugs) are hurt.

I definitely agree with what you're saying, but sadly, it's becoming more like this. Most products now are literally beta, and you pay to test. Like these video games that come out in early release.

I sent an email regarding registering my new (to me) 'hopper, but figured I'd check to see if anyone else here has had an issue registering one? I am not sure whether that functionality was just removed from the website or what.

I was also curious - as in the manual here: https://www.grasshoppervape.com/information/manual/

it states to use a wet qtip to clean chamber, but in the manual I just got with mine it specifically states that getting the body wet will void warranty - can I get clarification on this? What is the best practice to cleaning the herb chamber at this point?

I also see that warranties can no longer be transferred?

I don't really disagree with either of these changes - just curious.

Missed this, ya we'll definitely find out. Whenever someone has a financial incentive, they're gonna collect....

So everyone seems pretty positive about these new units. Is the failure rate issue fixed? Last I checked in, hopper was bringing more of the process in house.
I really don't like rmaing, now that I didn't do it already with my minivap, with two of them at the same time, I just really hate mailing things.
No rational reason.

How many of these would I need currently to always have a working one in hand given the rma process?

Well, without batteries the thing won’t work. Fine. But if you’re proceeding with the existing/prior manufacturer as if nothing was ever wrong and you don’t know if the new batteries were the cause of the fire yet (and again it may never be determined but not enough time has elapsed to close the door on the investigation), I think brakes need to be applied here and HL should really consider whether the current battery manufacturer should be used. I’ve had a few duds over the years which means some quality assurance fell through the cracks and I think this latest fire issue is an extension of that. Just saying.

I’m routing for HL to succeed but they’re not being smart about it or communicating correctly about it. I’m still a bit skeptical and wary about how they’re operating. Lessons are hard to come by for sure but you need to learn from mistakes and do things differently the next time. Working with the battery manufacturer to make sure “everything is exactly the same” really doesn’t cut it here. If the batteries are ever to be identified as the cause of the fire, would you want exactly the same batteries in your possession? I would think not.

Weekend regards to all. Now to find my Hopper and wake and bake to get my day started...:peace:

EDIT: still using my old batts until they give out and reclaim the new ones still in kitty litter.

thank you guys, looks like that's all she needed was a good clean. she is working better now, still acts a tiny bit finicky so I just re-click her and she is good. its working for the most part. it really wasn't that dirty though, just a little black stuff on q-tip that came off from the thread back end threads. I would like to ask why would lightly dirty threads cause it to act funny like that? one thing for sure this thing is very powerful for it being to tiny.

I also made a tiny donation with a purchase I did today, hoping hopper labs comes back stronger than ever!

They do! I used them for two weeks without issue until news of the fire and HL’s statement not to use them and dispose of them properly. They worked better than my old ones. My old ones won’t last much longer however, and I’ll be tempted to use the new ones. We’ll see...:peace:
