Discontinued The Grasshopper

As for batteries the more they sit unused, even fully charged, I think they lose their capacity somewhat. It's not a scientific observation but now that I have a loaner Ti from a friend I've been using all my batteries, which are numbered, and they don't last as long after they'd been sitting fully charged for some time between when I sent my unit in (September '18) and very recently when I received the loaner, and also re-charging them too after usage.

I'm pretty sure that fully charged Li-ion batteries should not be stored for a longer period, but rather at 50-80% charge. Don't ask me why though ;)

The fact is that I didn't suppose to let battieries stored for 1 year
Way back, when I was way more enthusiastic about the Hopper I bought 5 additional Hopper batteries and I'm still using the first two. The others haven't lost much of their charge, I check them once in a while and they're still in the area between 50 and 70% for more than a year.

My batteries were stored fully charged. Shame on me and likely a knee-jerk reaction thinking that when my RMA'd unit ever came back (it's still in RMA :( ) they'd be all charged up and ready to go. Since I was given a loaner by a friend recently and have used all my batteries, they're in different states of charge yet I know some hold more of a charge than others. Luckily I have one digital Nitecore that tells me this - and I'll be more battery mindful going forward especially when storing them long-term without using them. Thanks everyone! :peace:

I'm sure many of you got this as well:

Although this is our largest order ever, the cost to produce the battery has dramatically increased. Tighter environmental regulation in China closed many factories putting additional pressure on the high-end producers like the one we use. This, combined with the exploding demand for electric vehicles and higher tariffs, has driven the production cost to almost double for small run custom batteries.

Does that mean they will even get higher in price than the current 14 bucks?

On GH site it says available in May now. So the shipment must be on the boat on it's way now... It did say 2 to 4 months a few days ago .. I still have plenty of batteries thank goodness. They are way expensive now

Come here ones in a while to smell the roses but mostly just dog shit :shit: :dog: like usual

This got to be the most unreliable greatest vape of all time, still have not send mine in that doesn't reach temp, can't even get a flavor hit its so cold
But I been dragging my feet replacing it because its hard to find a portable that does hopper stuff

My leaning is towards a 510 threated vape like Splinter, glow or the stempod because at least I am camouflaged with a box mod and also the battery life ... Its fucking glorious :mmmm:

But I mail mine in Friday when I got some time to kill after doctor visit

Going in for skeleton check to check my skeletor levels ...

Wow, admitting to shilling for your own company AND telling someone to "fuck off" after a negative comment. They are not making themselves look any better. SMH :disgust:

One of the employees from Hopper Labs is doing (sort of) an AMA on Reddit:

https://www.reddit.com/r/vaporents/comments/bbnaas/hey_rvaporents_quick_update_and_ama/?sort=new

There are interesting bits of info, but the responses to the questions so far have been rote for the most part. However, the fact that there is an "official" spokesperson actually communicating something that has some substance is a positive I guess?
it's progress albeit small and hopefully not too late. They do need to win back trust for many, myself included. I'd love to see them on here instead of Reddit, which covers just about everything while this site is very focused.

The rep did a mea culpa and indicated it was out of frustration with how overwhelmed and under water they are in many aspects. I'll forgive him and give him/her a second chance since I haven't interacted with him, at least unknowingly, and not even sure it's the same person replying to RMA messages for my account (I don't think it's the same person). As for others, it's their judgement call. Hopefully their future replies will be more sedate and muted, but I don't usually go on Reddit and appreciate the info that's passed on from there.

I wouldn't be surprised. Heck, they doubled in price in one shot and all the geo-political and trade war crap going on doesn't bode well for we consumers. I'll bet they raise them again after this batch or the next.

As for batteries, I'm going to cave and order a few for myself and a local buddy or two (and a new sllicone tip too). I'd rather have a few extra on hand at the current price (with the discount code) than be SOL with my original 2 sets that are dying. I last bought a few 2 years ago, maybe a bit longer.

And speaking of which, perhaps time to fire up my loaner Hopper...:brow::peace:

Glorious battery life - that's news to me.

A Grasshopper has 6% the capacity of my box mod. It vapes much, much better and chargers much, much faster.
I think the TUBOx is the way to go for 510 btw.

The Grasshopper is terribly unreliable, but the times I've relied on it it does it's job so well to render subsequent 510 or vapcap hits as the lesser choice.

I wouldn't want to be relying on those.

I'd need vast compromises to how how blitzed I enjoy being using the vapcap, and I'd need a seperate mod box or batteries to use a 510 herb vape as frequently with a much more strict and unforgiving charge schedule.

Very happy to see my choice of the GH remaining the best option, and equally happy to see how it's panning out.

October/November will be interesting to arrive at. It's a lot of waiting, but nothing will fill the void like a hopper.

Got a 2-3x 18650 box mod with 3000mah batteries and been running my mod at 30 Watts and with what I call heavy use I am getting 3-4 days on charge

My hopper forced my to change battery every 3 bowls so I feel like I gone from a plastic knife to a chainsaw and also think you thought I was talking about "hoppers glorious battery life"... Nope  was talking about my box mod :brow:

dang I've got a 4x bay RX300 and generally manage a day or two at best - it definitely got multiple days use with the rate I was using them - but they can't keep up with my hoppers, so that's my go to.
The G43 is drawing at low Watts, so maybe that would be quite an efficient device.

It takes so long to charge those big batteries though, I've got two hopper GHB2s ready in an hour, eventually 3 in 15 mins too. Then, with fresh batts, I can blast several chambers worth, which will give hits and effects to easily outlast the next charge duration (and generally multiple cycles if I am charging after a heavy nights session).
It is a bit of a gun slinging time handling so many small cells, but they're light, relatively safe, and easy to manage.
The bulk of the 4 bay mod is a bit overkill for the hits I got, but it's not bad. It definitely does a great job with a totally different signature, a lot like the Arizer EQ - any super versatile 18mm basket blaster. Very enjoyable.

I'm also suspecting my mod box is broken, so there's that. I do need to repair the TUBOx and replace the mod, but it's a bit of a drain at this point. I've got coils (and jetpack) incoming for the Stempod and tried to buy a P80 mod straight from Dan but he's only bundling them with the Si. I will have to eventually piece my 510 kits back to operating order as it's a sad affair. Vapes like that aren't such an easy ordeal IME. I'm not facing normal experiences I guess, across the board, so what goes around does come around.

Not to worry. And I actually was thinking you were meaning the battery life of the box mod, to which I just don't quite see eye to eye.
The GH uses 750mAh cells, charged the same way you should charge 3000mAh 18650s.
3 bowls at 750mAh, is quite efficient. The equivalent would be 50 "GH chambers" quantity through the RX300 with whichever attachment. That's somewhere around a quarter of weed. I find the hoppers more efficient and more convenient, always available, where as my mod is generally out of commission as of late.

Definitely a chainsaw of a weapon yielding a metal stempod RX300, I do prefer an extension lead for some set ups.
But the right hopper is straight up a sniper rifle. And the Sub is the atomic bomb.

Yeah I still love the hopper and find it to be a very specialised weapon but need a second portable vape so going for box mod and a 510 log ;)

Be very interested to hear your stempod SI tales as I was very close from buying it but worried about flavor + really want the glow because the 14mm can take prepacked capsules that makes it nice for on the go

But charging a single 18650 battery in nitecore TAKES FOR EVER!! I leave mine charging with batteries inside the mod plugged to USB hub over night and hope not to burn to death

StemPod, it's much the same as the hopper in the way that when it hits right, it's just perfect.
However with the StemPod it's all up to the user, and I fall out of practice every time I put it away.

It's a very capable extractor, and one that makes you think: why did we not have this kind of thing a long time earlier?!
I don't find it that stealthy or easily portable, but it does a job well, if you bring it it delivers. I've had some pretty good reactions with the StemPod and a small beaker, it's a great low cost option to replace smoking bongs, and a great all-round user-repairable quality product.
It has the ability to combust, so that's great, but it's annoying when it happens and ruins a sesh. I really like that with the hoppers where I have no worry about combustion. (have had a unit combust back in 2016).

I sold my EQ a while ago, and with 510 set ups it's great to have a similar glass adapter and basket screen vape, that's untethered. But I never managed to use them for more than a day or two before opting for something else. But I need to get them running again to appreciate them again, because they are just fine, as what they do is a good thing.

But the thing with being sublimated is, it's not something that can be achieved with hot coils and glass adapters. It needs a properly hot dynamic system, where the Sublimator and Hopper deliver that quite well.
Maybe too well as I'm beginning to lose the ability to read

Probably a worn out question, but does anyone have any of the new units that they quoted in the AMA that haven't had any warranty cases on? Is that just outright false, or is there actually something real going on that is getting them past some of their issues?

Indeed a lucky Hopper owner.

A little bit of my luck has run out. My oldest SS Hopper, purchased in July 2016, is now showing sensor error ("cop lights"). I'm not too upset since it has seen pretty steady usage for nearly 3 years.

StemPod, it's much the same as the hopper in the way that when it hits right, it's just perfect.

...snip...

It has the ability to combust, so that's great, but it's annoying when it happens and ruins a sesh. I really like that with the hoppers where I have no worry about combustion. (have had a unit combust back in 2016).

I have a StemPod and this is the main reason that I don't use it anymore. In wattage mode it's pretty easy to combust. It's really up to the user to prevent combustion by gauging how long to fire the coil and how long to draw.

I spent some time trying to get TCR mode to work as I wanted it to. It either ran too cool and didn't produce sufficient vapor, or it combusted.

It also heated the load unevenly, creating hot spots and the need to stir :(

I just can't tolerate combustion. My Hoppers have never combusted and I don't worry that they will.

I ended getting both a vapwood Lil Bud Classic and Elite when I had enough of GH jail. They both rock.... My SS GH works (8 RMAs later), but my Titanium lasted 3 weeks after its last RMA stay (14 RMAs at last count). I just couldn’t do it anymore.

Sorry to hear! Is it still working though? That would be a positive.

I’ve used my friend’s loaner Ti for a couple of weeks now, sparingly too as I’m not enjoying the Hopper that much anymore compared to my Furies. Perhaps it’s the batteries or increased draw resistance (I use it natively sans water or cooling; not that it’s too hot for me yet it could be cooler) but it’s just not that fun anymore.

Reluctantly I will be ordering some new batts soon, whenever I see them - and my Ti still RMA-ville...:peace:

Since I originally owned a hopper, I have moved on to Dynavaps with an Induction Heater. It has been a great experience, and since I have had the IH and it makes using them so easy, I can say that I haven't used my mighty in months. I hate to say it, but there it is.

I thought about why I was never really motivated to use the Mighty as much anymore, and I realized that i just don't like session vapes anymore. After having the hard instant hits from the Hopper and the hard instant hits from my Omni's...I just didn't want to have a 10 minute session with my Mighty, I just wanted some nice hits every now and again.

So once again I have put in an order for a new Hopper hoping that it is going to be the perfect companion to my dynavaps.

I’ve also come to the same conclusion that session vapes just aren’t for me. I got an apollo a few weeks ago, and it’s great but I used it like 5 times and haven’t again since.

However around the same time I ordered a dynavap and now I have 3 of them and and induction heater on the way!

Dyna and hopper compliment each other well, it’s like an analog and digital versions although with an IH it’s more like digital and external digital lol
