LOL! Off-topic but, basically, my arm fell asleep at night, and as I was trying to move, I accidentally hit my cloud over off my end table, and it landed on the floor, and the bamboo broke. I've seen quotes to fix bamboo is about $100 + shipping charges back and forth, so I figure around $130 - $160. Instead, I just ordered a brand new Evo. My old one was kinda messed up anyway. The green light never came on. It was very hot. The bamboo was quite loose from someone twisting it a long time ago. It was my daily driver for 4 years, no issues. So, just figured was time to re-up.
Somewhat on topic, if you notice my signature, I had the very first Cloud.... And I applaud VapeXhale for sticking through and changing it up, and getting to the Evo. I mean, I did get screwed and had to pay a little something to upgrade from the Cloud to the Cloud+ when it broke. Then when my Cloud+ broke, they wouldn't fix it and made me pay to upgrade to the Cloud Evo. Those were very shitty business practices, but maybe they were necessary to keep the company afloat, and keep working out issues.
I hope that Grasshopper eventually follows suit in figuring out how to make the best possible portable vaporizer that is reliable. It did take VapeXhale 2 years or so to retool. But, hearing these people get them back and they are still broken, that's awful.
The Cloud Evo is the one I got from the very beginning. Never needed to send it back, like my Cloud or Cloud+. So I'm very confident in the Evo product now. Hopefully, Grasshopper can get there too.
lol ... yeah ... VXL and HL are similar in their start in that regards ... I paid a LOT initially too ... with two Cloud's, both upgraded to Cloud+'s ... and within weeks of that both Cloud+'s died and I had to pay to upgrade them ...
... Seibo has made everything right by me and VXL is an awesome company, and I'm glad they made it through the difficulty of startup and stabilizing the product. I hope for the same success with HL and will continue to support their product (so far ... getting a little frustrated ... I wish HL would at least be better with interacting with their customers and with being accountable like VXL was ... that recent blog post is hopefully a step in that direction ...)
Half dozen of one and half dozen of the other as well ... VXL didn't warranty my Cloud+'s originally even though they should have, and HL has warrantied my Hoppers, however, I've spent much more on shipping with HL than I spent on buying new devices at the discount price with VXL ...
The verdict on my two returned Hoppers, are as follows:
1. SS one works well, sort of; the lights flash like crazy, and if you push it too hard, it goes to flashing reds sometimes. It also gets unbelievably fucking hot! Back-end, body, mouthpiece will likely leave burn marks if you touch it right after an inhale if hitting it @ 4.5-5. That being said, it seems to produce good vapour between 3.5-4 and not get too hot ... and at least it is consistent in its behavior.
2. Ti one works well maybe 30-40% of the time. If you are crazy obsessive about cleaning threads etc., then it seems to work @ 80+% reliability for a while, then degrades such that it almost never works right ... and quickly. (maybe 5-8 bowls?) At temp setting 5, it gets about as dark as my SS one at temp 3.5, when it works that is. No problems with flashing lights or going to red flashing lights though ...
... also no problems with getting too hot on this one ...
... some consolation ... fucking Hoppers!
Oh well ... guess the Ti one will be going back first and the SS one 2nd (assuming it continues to be usable, although it may be degrading my batteries since they are likely getting somewhat too warm all the time ... which has me thinking about that first reported death from eCig from an exploding battery/device ...!!)
I wanted to give them both a fair chance before I posted ... but now that I've had them for over a week, and I've put them through their paces somewhat I felt it was time (took me a while as I wasn't overly enthusiastic considering they didn't seem to be working right out of the box ...)
