Of those who have received a Hopper with the new in-house parts, who has had theirs fail? I haven't seen anyone post here about RMAing an updated Hopper.
When do you think the actual date is for knowing you received a new Hopper? Anything after March 1st till now? April 1st?

Been curious myself about the reliability of the "new" ones and wasn't quite sure when they stopped shipping the older version.

I was under the impression that the processes wasn't finalized until May 1st. So everything purchased this month is the real question. I put my order in for one on the 22nd, so when I get that one, I guess I'll know. lol

I would say around April 1st, but don't recall exactly.

I'm pretty sure that I have indeed seen that in this thread. Well, don't know about RMA'ing an updated GH, but there were reports of recently received repair units failing again.

I may well be wrong in this.

Re: your second link, if it was repaired in October then it definitely does not have the new in-house parts. Those were not shipping until March/April (or around then).

The Reddit link looks like it could be a failure of the new parts. A specific shipping date for when it was sent to the user would help to narrow it down.

And very nice nuts, they are! haha

Oh, I don't think I was being thin skinned necessarily. While it seems like I was in error and you were not referring to my last post, the error was understandable since I was the only post after the posting of their recent email.. Besides, I think my response was measured, no? :brow:;)

I have been in there shoes or ones very much like it. I spent an entire career as a Program Manager in some very tech industries including start ups.

That they designed their vape with insufficient margin and tolerances, that they designed their vape with insufficient testability and fault isolation ability (which they frakin' admitted to in one of their recent instagram posts when they mentioned the significant time to find the fault with RMAs) is clearly and definitely on them.

They also seem to have designed components of their vape that have some serious producibility and yield issues. On them also.

Their failure to adequately communicate with their customer community and their tendency to hide behind glossy email broadcast about how swimmingly well things are going and their customers reacting negatively toward them about this...well, this is on them too.

I have been in their shoes which is why I feel rather confident in criticizing them roundly.

Have a great day.
It's a funny play out, but really, their shoes are filled by a small team who pieced together a product thought to be impossible.

The pen vape is still either a piece of shit or a hopper (or both). So, without meaning to discredit your experience or denounce the angle you're perceiving this, I can't think of a single instance where a Kickstarter has taken on as innovative a project - one that no one else has attempted, to this day - and actually succeeded.

Just look at the induction based herb vape that was on Indiegogo during the same timeframe that HL began....

They didn't even deliver a herb vape!

So whilst there's been struggles and things have been less than ideal for the consumer, they've at least produced exactly what it is they advertised. The time blowout is simply a matter of the complexity of what exactly that is...

It wouldn't be a thing, to be waiting on HL, if anyone else could fill their shoes. The market would be insanely kind to anyone capable of doing better, it's been markedly kind to these guys here despite any shortfalls with the very real difficulty in executing a project like Hopper Labs.

I'm seeing many problematic vape launches as the devices are becoming overly complex. Look at the Ghost, look at the Haze Square, look at the Loto Labs Lux, look at the Dr Dabber Switch. And then there's hopper labs. Consider the cash flow, and watch the execution. They might take their time, but they do it right, meaning as best they can and better than anyone competing with them.

Maybe I cut them too much slack, but I really think they make the best product.
And reliability has gotten much better in my experience.

The Tubo X is amazingly good, but the hopper outclasses it on multiple fronts that matter - cloud density, portability and power efficiency.

It's worth waiting for, which is why anyone would wait for it and gets angsty about having to.

But it's a bit weak to call them out as conducting bad engineering when literally no one else is stepping up to the plate.

Are they world class engineers?
They are in the vape industry - that's a flat out No.
But they have a solid work ethic and they make shit happen. I'm happy with them despite the reality of their very first real product, things will only get better as they keep learning.

There is a lot of rightly complaining of GHL's customers but their loyality to GHL and nearly never ending confidence in the company and their product is really awesome, nearly miraculous.
GHL you can be proud on your customers!

Still waiting for my US courier bringing along my new ti hopper to me the next two weeks!

thanks man and same to you, I really enjoy your company and respect your opinion, I would even have reworded my nut jokes if I seen your post first ... as you might be allergic to nuts :brow:

but yeah I could not agree with you more on that point that the over all problem is their form factor and crazy ambition to keep it that way :mental: where the hell is the 18650 hopper but I guess it has something to do with the fact we are holding a pipe bomb to our faces

and also I just wanted to say that I apologize for the timing and harshness of my comment

hugs and kisses @Baron23 and I am glad to have you as my forum friend

I've yet to see a customer complain about anything other than waiting.
Whether it's waiting for a response or waiting for a unit. It's simply a matter of expectations not being met.

The last year has been pretty bumpy in the hopperverse, and I don't think anyone was expecting the debacle that ensued.

So there's a lot of complaining. Rightly so, for sure.

But on the upside, the product is worth waiting for...

What a pity it's hard to live without!
I've wanted the Grasshopper for almost half a decade. I have now got a bunch of vapes, but it's pretty clear nothing compares.

I'd complain about the direction everyone else is taking in the vape scene before my double RMA situation. Even though HL's running with a worst case scenario time-space, they'll still get me my hoppers before anyone else launches a similar product..

I just want a pen vape. It's nearly impossible but one's plugged into my bong right now - and I haven't turned the Sub on for over a week...

I also haven't combusted in a long time!!
The convenience of the hopper is ultimately why it has any value. It's ultra convenient and ultra valuable.

For me this is the same kind of attitude I am taking. I did just buy one recently and I haven't gotten it yet but I understand that there are people that have been waiting a long time for either their new ones or their RMAs. That sucks and I think their PR department could have handled all of this much better. It does appear that they have realized that mistake and are making efforts to fix some of them. I emailed them a few days ago just to say Hi and how much I appreciated the work they were doing to bring things in house and what not. Within 24 hours they had responded saying thanks for the kind words. So I think they are really trying.

From an engineering standpoint, I have worked in Software engineering that had to pair with our hardware engineering team, and the complexity of things can get out of hand really really fast. The fact that they are making this thing work at all in an industry that can't make anything even close, is impressive and they should get some credit for that. So yeah maybe it is a bit too much leeway, but on the other hand, who else should we turn around and praise in their place?

Emailed HL and said go ahead and ship the pfe.. hoping there is indeed some advantage the small peice of silicone whip over the mp works fine but looks funny . I really wouldn't have minded the slow shipping time but I paid for the product that was to ship same day and then was told it was mailed out when it wasn't . What's another week... I am looking forward to the case and battery charger set to be released sometime in July (hopeful)

Had some blue blinking lights/ backend heat and after a light cleaning seems to be working again

I use the PFE exclusively, water tool or not. Sometimes I put the silicone mp over it, but often I just wait a minute or so between hits to let it cool down, because it does get hot after a couple of hits.

An overlooked advantage the PFE has is in ease of cleaning. If you have ever taken the standard mp apart and seen the places goo is trapped (even after a good soak), it would be apparent that the PFE is a better design, in its' simplicity; what you see is what you get in terms of internal parts/construction.

I canceled some SS cases when I learned that a Hopper with PFE on it won't fit inside the case.

I’ve been using the updated components for a few months now with ZERO issues. This is annecdotal of course but in terms of consumer confidence, I usually bring both my grasshoppers on trips just to be sure I always have one working and a few weekends ago, I went to Wyoming for the weekend, totally forgot about a second grasshopper and it wasn’t until I was back that it never even occurred to me to bring the other one on the trip.

This is why I got two and ultimately after the inevitable RMAs, I will have two updated models, or two really expensive faux pens depending on how it all works out. This is an amazing time to be alive!

I figured having more than one is a good thing too. So I have the one from HL on order, but I managed to catch one on reddit for sale for a good price and it was a brand new one. So I'll have two Titanium Grasshoppers. I'm hoping the one I bought off reddit will be as solid as the brand new one that should be coming.

I always say I'm going to only use one of mine and keep the other for when the first one needs to be in RMA, but somehow I end up using them both in rotation. I'm a heavy user and while I have a 4 batt charger, it's easier to just put them on the native charger while I'm using the other one. So one is charging while I'm using the other one.

Welp I’ll be damned. The email thing did work :-). They updated my address. And about another 3 weeks till I have to check in again.

Which puts me at the end of June. I’ll be very happy if I have my hopper for my trip to California at the end of July.

Although, I’m not very fond of the send backs, this long RMA, the missing Caroline, etc., the hopper still is the most portable discreet vape. Also, I really don’t want to bring my Mighty on the airplane. But the hopper, I’d have 0 issues.

That was a repair I had received in late October that failed several months later. It seemed to be a simple mechanical fix in the clicker, and I was able to have it repaired and back to me in a week and a half because of the unique nature of the repair. Thanks to Hopper Labs for helping me out there!

That one is still working great, in fact it was extracting great the whole time, when I could get it to turn on and off. I must have lucked out with that batch of defective components.

It’s hard to talk about versions as there have been many small incremental changes along the way. I consider there to be three main versions of Grasshoppers, but there will be variation within each version as far as upgraded components, etc.

I consider the first version to be the version with the blue screen and white temp sensor. This is the longest produced variant, with a lot of variation in individual components between models. If it were software it would be the alpha version.

The second version has a white screen and blue temp sensor. It was produced from approximately July/August-November in 2017. This variant had notably increased airflow and most likely features slightly higher temp settings, at least for the lower numbers. Max temp is roughly the same. This is also the variant with the batch of defective components that HL is now producing in house. We could call this the beta version.

It seems the newest versions have white screens and white temp sensors. Unfortunately there isn’t much data about them yet. Perhaps this is finally version 1.0, a proper, fully realized product. It’s too early to tell.

I have an alpha Ti and a beta SS and to me the airflow is perfect in the beta units. With the stock mouthpiece it is better than the alpha with the PFE. I can get decent visible vapor even on temp one, three seems about the same maybe a little higher, four and five seem the same. Three is enough to make me cough sometimes, I always finish on temp five though.

Hopper Labs is far from perfect but they have been steadily and constantly improving every aspect of their business. A lot of us were unsure they would make it this far, including me, so I am actually very hopeful about their future.

We can’t fix past mistakes but I’m glad to see the increased transparency and producing more parts in house is great news. They have quite a hole to dig out of at the moment but it seems they are making good progress. I think the renewed focus on customer service will only be fully realized when the production line is caught up and they are not spending so much time on repairs and assembly.

Honestly, it blows my mind that this thing even exists right now, and I’ve had my SS for nearly two years. In my opinion it’s very telling that none of the established companies with vast resources have even come close to combining the form factor and performance of the Grasshopper. As far as I’m aware there’s not even anything on the horizon that looks like it can compete.

Can a person determine which “version” they have based on serial number or is internal analysis of screen and sensor color the only way to tell? I just got my stainless steel from MistHub in the last two weeks and I would like to know what I am working with as I read back through the thread. Thanks!

Agreed, VAS gets the better of me every once in awhile, (most recently Ghost MV1) and that as an example, its just HUGE and the experience? Well of course subjective but certainly which vape would I recommend as an only vape, the Grasshopper by a mile, I take my GH every where and I think the last time I used my MV1 was last week sometime, there is just no better user experience for how I like to consume (microdose, just above minimum effective dose) all day every day.

Yes I am curious to see how the “MistHub Club” Grasshoppers fare. What is the sleeve you mention? Is it in reference to the packaging?
Leather sleeve holder for the g h. 9 people working and not one can remember to pack one.Really.

Do your batteries charge via included magnet charger or on a separate charger.. ive been just plugged in to magnet charger and only messing with the heat dial if I get blue Blinky lights after warm up. I'm guessing from constantly changing out batteries.
