Honestly I'd prefer that over changing the light colors. I think a green light would be a bit strange but a green hopper sounds nice.

@JoeMama I'm not saying your wrong but you could be less antagonist. Assuming it's true the guy is just trying to give us all a heads up. That said, I agree it seems strange and I'm hesitant to believe it...

I am basing my information on sales history of Grasshopper accessories from my own personal website, which allows me to see things in a different light.

Over the past three months, I have seen a significant decrease in sales of grasshopper accessories from my store (unaffiliated with Hopper Labs). About two weeks ago I got a flurry of new grashopper orders (from averaging maybe a handful of hopper accessory sales a week to suddenly a dozen hopper accessory orders a day).

This correlated with a bunch of "My hopper shipped!" postings here on this sub. My grasshopper sales have one again stalled out which indicates to me that Hopper Labs conducted a small batch shipment of vapes to customers, and I would bet they are waiting on feedback before they ship out thousands of units to everyone else waiting on their grasshoppers.

I preordered my Grasshopper in March of 2015 and it was delivered June 2016. I've been watching Hopper Labs for many years.

While they may not have Storz & Bickle grade customer service, they are a small company building a single product which is very complicated using proprietary parts. Sure it can be frustrating, but that's a risk you take with any small business.

You think people who spend $100,000 on a Tesla Model S are having no problems? No Tesla car owners have tons of complaints regarding the construction quality of their carts, these are minor defects caused by a small team building extremely complicated cars.

If you want a reliable product from a reputable brand, why invest in a grasshopper? This is the company's first product ever released - of course it was bound to have issues, every company has issues with their first product releases.

So cut Hopper labs some slack. If you think you can do it better, go start your own company building a vaporizer.

I love and respect Mike to death...but we differ here. I believe I am entitled to my opinions, positive or negative, of a company of which I am a customer without having to become their competitor.

Enough said....we will see what we will see and hopefully its all wonderful.

While I thank you for the insight in the rest of the post, I might disagree here. They put out a product that promised to do a thing. If it doesn't do the thing, I'm not sure the logical extension is for the buyer to get over it or start another company to do the thing.

Because, others HAVE started companies that do the thing.

It is entirely appropriate for buyers to complain when the promise made them was broken. The main difference between if the broken promise was intentional, due to unforeseen events, or due to some act of God is to distinguish between fraud, breach of contract (promise) or nothing. While those who want to encourage innovation may just suck it up and wait to see, others may have just bought a vape with no intent to further an industry.

I think that's OK.

Since I think it might just be part of a learning curve, I'm still watching the thread to see if the day ever comes to pull the trigger as, when it works, the description is exactly what is wanted sometimes.

It really hurts my butt that someone can now order a Grasshopper from a 3rd party seller and have it delivered 2 or 3 days from now but I probably won't see the Grasshopper I ordered directly from HL a ~week ago for who knows how long. Not to mention all the people who have had their hoppers sitting in warranty for a month+ with no real updates or timeline. Not surprised but definitely disappointed.

Puffitup's stock is not from the updated batch, they only have the older versions. Also the grasshopper site is undergoing updates for anyone having trouble signing in.

This is the type of response that makes me upset. When those people with teslas have issues, tesla holds themselves accountable. They respond to questions. They give reasons for their failures. They maintain a semblance of transparency.

One of my hoppers has been out of commission since September. At what point does it become unacceptable? They offer a lifetime warranty but what good is that if they just hold my hopper until I die? They've accepted very little accountability for their product, something which people like myself rely on for medical help.

Saying that we should just accept shitty service because this is their first product isn't an excuse. Furthermore they've had nothing but time to improve their practices and have shown almost no progress. My issue isn't that my hopper broke. My issue is the lack of communication and respect for the value of my money.

I paid for two devices that are supposed to function. Instead one of my hoppers has spent more time in "warranty" than in my possession and the other isnt far behind. I don't understand how this is acceptable to anyone. I paid for it. They took my money. I currently have absolutely nothing to show for it. If delta3dlabs thinks this is acceptable I'm not sure I want to do business with them either.

The entire quote is from delta3d. I didn't add my opinion at the end. I agree with you. I thought it was a strange post by delta3d as I have bought from them and always found them to be totally professional

I'm not the one making the claim though - you are. I asked for a source, you didn't provide one. It isn't on me to prove your claim one way or the other that PIU is selling outdated hoppers.

And of course HL will be the ones handling RMAs but that won't stop the customer emails coming in to PIU about their hoppers not working.

I thought it would be helpful and beneficial by clarifying your misconceptions. Again, if you need confirmation from puffitup email them yourself. I'm quite confident in my sources thank you.

When you present a piece of information like that with no sources someone is going to ask where you heard it from. That isn't unreasonable. Anyone could say anything on the internet and they don't necessarily need an enticing reason to do it. People are really weird.

Normally when someone is asked for a source about some non-crucial non-NDA-bound information like this, they simply tell where they heard it from. Especially if the claim is as unlikely as yours.

You're assuming that Puffitup received inventory of the new batch of hoppers before anyone else received their units back from warranty or that they purchased during downtime.. remember your butt being hurt?

I already told you mang, got the info from an official distributor who got the info direct from HL. And no the sky isn't falling..

So I tested out my unit last night. I love this thing. It’s so awesome. I did find a possible problem. I turned it up to five (not 11, that would be cool) and I hit it super hard through water and it combusted. It was nothing but ash after that. Giant rip for sure. So I haven’t tried that again. I could not get it to it at 4.5. Do be careful with giant rips up that high.

Unless HL specifically says that they ramped up the temps to be more compatible with extracts (like Arizer recently did upping their max temp bandwidth to 220c from 210c), I am sad to hear that your GH combusted on max temp (210c). This should not be happening IMO. Just like the Mighty, Crafty, and Solo etc don't combust.... 210c is still way in the safe zone. :2c:

I got mine from repairs couple of months back and though max does not combust it is still +10-15 C more then it used to be

but seams like I need a fresh good battery to reach that extra hotness

I was disappointed when combustion happened. But I took a 30 second powerful rip through water with a brand new battery. I think I mentioned I haven’t had that issue at 4.75. The GH got super hot, I could hold it, but my lips could not have handled that big of a rip.

A small complaint is that if you fill up the chamber fully the herb does not get evenly brown like my Mighty does. The heat up time on my GH is unbelievable compared to my Mighty.

I’m still loving it. I have no idea how to tell if it really is the newest version. We shall see how reliable it is.

I really need new batteries for my Mighty, but won’t send it in until I know my GH is reliable. I hope to hear more stories of people getting old units back and more new one shipped.

Hi @Jayd0g420, welcome here (I'm late to the welcoming party, still worth doing ;))

I agree with some others, if I know that combustion can happen on max, I'm happy to just run it on 4.5 or 4.75 and get consistent awesome results ;) My hopper does a great job on 5, but definitely isn't super close to combustion, so I'm happy to run it on 5 all the time. If I got one with new internals that needed 4 for the same result, that's fine too ;)

Yeah, regarding sending back your Mighty, if I were you I'd at least wait 'til it looks like Hopper Labs have mostly cleared their backlog, so you know you can get it fixed quickly if there is an issue. I'm waiting for this myself, just for a small issue I have.

I find that filling the hopper pretty full it does still get nicely evenly brown, as long as I don't tamp it down at all.

I'm very happy you're having a great time with the Hopper. May it live long and happy!

As for the green lights, who knows what weird and wonderful testing things they throw in @slcdbco's Hopper. We should all be so lucky :p

My GH never combusted no matter the temp or the draw duration.

Now, after 18 months of very careful use and care, it is indeed back for its first RMA and I will just have to see what its like when it comes back.

But never any combustion in my past experience with it.
