Discontinued The Grasshopper

So this happened:

Looks like the "thread" itself decided to take a little breather from staying in formation.

I've emailed Caroline...

That is all.

EDIT: Further inspected, it doesn't look like an actual thread rail, but more like a machining remnant that hadn't presented itself until the 2000th time it'd been unscrewed.

I received a shipment of batteries from HL and unfortunately one of them has a small tear (~3mm) in the casing along the body. I remembered reading this post awhile back:

I would recommend tossing that battery.

A little while ago I noticed a "tear" at the top of one of my batteries (near the nipple). I emailed Caroline @ghl, and she quickly replied that I should not use the battery if it's casing was in any way compromised (my words here, not hers).

So personally, I wouldn't take a chance...

Wanting to get HL's opinion on the matter, I emailed support and received this response:

"Hi There,

We are sorry to hear that. We are happy to get it repaired for you if you want to send it in to us. It should be fine to use still but will likely continue to tear until it is repaired.

Let me know how you want to proceed.

Best,
Caroline"

:hmm: I'm confused by the differing messages. I thought compromises in the wrap run the risk of shorting...or is it "fine" to use because it isn't near the nipple? Any thoughts?

Also, I'm aware that I can rewrap the battery, however, would a small piece of electrical tape suffice?

Are you able to share a pic of your heat treated unit? Interested in seeing them from a customer's perspective rather than GH's. Regular units are available through several online retailers(have been for months) that are waiting on the shelves.. you could've snagged one there(??). The heat treated units seem to be for more of the artsy type willing to shell out the extra bucks for a purdy unit. I'm sure you could easily resell it if you really don't like it that much.. and why don't you like it that much again?

I like it....It seems to bite without the rubber....I'm sure I will learn the curve soon enough....If the GH is available else where why are so many people still waiting on orders they placed months ago? I shopped and couldn't find any... maybe I didn't shop hard enough...and again the heat treated pics looked cool...the one I received wasn't impressive...but OK I guess.....

Anyone for thoughts on Stickybrick vs IQ for sleepiness?
The Sticky Brick is pure convection, about as pure as it gets. It doesn't get me any more sleepy than my other convection vapes, Grasshopper included.

I haven't used the IQ but I agree that conduction vapes give a more sedative effect, for me at least. I like using my VapCap when I need more sedative effects.

Yesterday I've bought a Sublimator Teflon Adapter (18-14) for using the Hopper w/o condom with a water tool (18mm female)

Excellent tight fit, better draw, no more scratches on the Hopper - absolute recommendation!

Just a little bit expensive for such a little piece of plastic - but worth the money.

Dont believe the new waterpiece frontend from GHL can do a better job.

I nearly added one of these to my ausvapes order that'll be here Tuesday, but decided it was a bit too expensive and I didn't really have a piece suited for it anymore.

@slcbdco has mentioned that the airflow is improved with the new WPA, so it will be interesting to see how it is.

I'm also interested to see what the 14/18mm sleeve is like from HL. I'm hopping it's not a generic lipped glass adapter. Most of the appeal for the Teflon sublimator options is how streamline it is (it'll actually fit in my city wok matrix wonky dhgate mess).
If it doesn't I might need to purchase StevenLMZ's 14mm sidecar

Also, cheers @Vapor_Eyes. I think the IQ would be my go to side option. Though again, for the money it won't happen

I'm using it on some pieces from StevenLMZ79. Sticking the pure frontend without condom into the joint didnt deliver a perfect seal. May be cause the joint of Steven arent absolutely perfecty proceeded. But now its perfect!

I've paid 12 €, in the US the Sublimator Teflon Adapter costs around 10 $. The new adapter frontend from GHL will probably cost more. What for? You have to change the frontend too. More work, more costs problably no better fitting.

Yeah he has some nice pieces, though hit and miss for quality I guess. I have his 12" torus which is okay with the hopper, but I've been smoking out of it lately. Bit too big for vapour.

The normal mouthpiece in a 14mm female joint won't seal, unless the angle is right. As it is just one small ring that fits the joint as opposed to a proper 12-14.5 taper.

The new WPA will be longer, cooler and have better airflow. I plan on swapping my mouthpieces basically permanently.
The bonus is I can use my glass domes to extend the air path further, without any need for silicone without sacrificing the 100% seal

I'm getting a heady adapter made up that will work with all my glass and my EQ too.

I don't really have a go to set up that could use the Teflon otherwise it would probably be all the function I'd need. But I've been using oil rigs with male joints and they're all worth more than the hopper, so spending a little to optimise my hoppering is on the cards after a year of silicone use (I hate silicone on vapes, the EQ hose turned me off it)

The GH sleeves are decent quality. I had to replace one after my friend lost one, and when they're fresh they're great. After a year its congealed with plant oils and scuffed from use.
I have 2m of coloured silicone from seventh floor en route to keep my old mouthpieces and oil rigs happy too

Nice find! ..I would suggest waiting on the WPA to be available from Hopper. It should be released soon and my friend's sister's brother's cousin's dogsitter's mailman got a demo and we took it for a serious test drive last night. It's a straight up game charger.. Drool factor 9000!! It opens up the air path and let's the heater's functionality prove it's worth. Less restriction with instant whitewalling and a purrfect seal with 14's. I'm praying and hopping to take it for another spin this weekend

Going back to the normal front end + glass is making me wanna cry .. I'll be on the couch if anyone needs me.. wake me when the WPA has landed

VAS ...taking...over.... I need to stay away from this forum so I don't keep buying awesome stuff. Besides the wow factor, is there a big difference between titanium or stainless?
Thanks!

Color choices aside, minor weight difference. And the ti is supposed to have minor heat transfer differences (heat and cool faster). There may be a difference in how the threading works too.

Unless you want a color, I would recommend saving your $$ for accessories and get the ss.
