Am I the only one removing screen and cone for every cleaning?
IMO if it's not taken apart and each piece cleaned separately every cleaning, it's gonna seize up from resin build up.

The resin that is generated during vaping is a liquid, albeit a very viscous one. ISO is also a liquid, and far less viscous than the resin. During an ISO soak of the front end, wouldn't the ISO reach every part of the front end that the resin could possibly reach during vaping?

EDIT: I thought about this some more and realized that the resin is actually suspended in the vapor (liquid diffused in a gas) during vaping, so maybe it could reach places that ISO could not...?

I purchased my SS Hooper from that eBay seller. I couldn't have been happier with the transaction and my Hopper is working flawlessly for now (fingers crossed).

Ugh! 3rd time this POS went dead and needs to be sent back! Do I have to only use the battery they sell (that won't ship for 2 months!) or can I use another ?

All I can say is that while I like the device I regret supporting another failure of crowdfunding.

Volt, you have every reason and right to call them a failure in your book. They failed you.
Perhaps, I don't know, can you call them on the three-times-a-charm thing and say you just want out of this altogether. That's how much of a failure it would feel like to me.... I would want out. And then wait a while and come back to see if they got their shit together.

See, this vape is so amazing that not only does it revolutionize vaporization, it also serves as a zen training tool.

Ah, but it's doomed to be a Zen training tool because I'm so attached to it!

Yes, true. The resin settles in the form of vapor deposits.

Last night when I took the screen out, I soaked it in ISO for a while. The resin didn't really "come off" without some wiping and rubbing.

Same here Joe, and especially at the back of the screen is a different material that is funnel shaped so between the screen and funnel is where stuff gets hung up. Also the brass(?) cone is about the same shape as back of screen, like they almost fit together like a male and female but with maybe an air gap?
I can see that area also being tough to get spotless just by soaking, but who knows?

Yep, Mule, it's like you said. I at first thought the screen would "reduce" down to just a screen, but it's a permanent attachment to that funnel-shaped thing that serves to pass all the vapor right to the little hole at the MP.

Am I right here? You can't (or wouldn't want to) take those two things apart, right?
... and therefore, there's nothing you can do about what accumulates inside that assembly...

Or did I miss a big step??

No sir you didn't miss a thing, looks like a permanent attachment to me too.
The thing with just soaking the MP is you just don't really know if your leaving anything behind.
I also like that when removing screen the threads are chased clean.
Makes the SS MP feel buttery smooth spinning on and off.

Well, now that I've done it once, I'll have to keep it up.

On the other hand, based on what could go wrong, I'm gonna order a spare MP.

!!!Design flaw alert!!! :p

O.k. Hopper Labs, so who's idea was it to make the battery compartment so similiar to the damn herb chamber?

It may have taken me 6 months of use, but there's a first time for everything, & last night, it finally happened.

Yes, I loaded the battery compartment with 'erbage. D'oh!

Green power!

Hi-dee-hi :D

Classic. I've been close to doing this before, reminded me of times loading conepieceless stems. Cracks me up every time, because you have to be that kind of super baked. Little pen has a lot of grunt
Not to mention I have to keep paying for shipping. I've paid now $10-$15 bucks now 3 times over and if I have to more times than that in the future At what point do you just cut your losses?
I hear you man, that is a rough and costly experience. It's pretty disconcerting in some ways, but at least you have the option to continually send it in
It's worth considering that there are devices out there working fine, I have purchased 4 but have had issues with one. The warranty process is decent, but it does suck having to pay to ship back something that stops working beyond your control.
Going through the same device 3 times would be too much for me... but I would still service the unit (it's my daily driver, if it wasn't... maybe I would let it go?). I'd probably at least consider holding onto the dud unit until they've caught up on orders and try warranty again in the future when the QA is higher.
The complete neglect of HL to serve customers with ongoing issues is my least favourite aspect of the entire company. They should do more to improve these initial impressions, hopefully when they're not saturated with work they will be more able (and willing) to be charitable.

Has anyone got a ultrasonic cleaner? Perhaps one of these would be good to thoroughly clean the MP without removing the screen

Surprisingly I jumped on the battery mod wagon with a ceramic atty. I've found the on demand I prefer with this custom arrangement to be superb. Generally I favor flower over wax but this set up has become my daily driver because of this instant nature of it.

That sounds pretty good. Perhaps one day I will have concentrates available to me so I could go a similar route. Most of my set up cost is now glass and that is where my appreciation lies. The GH is amazing to pair up for herb usage, and using two is pretty hectic. But concentrates are a different bag of tricks yet again.
Instant nature is ideal either way though.

I've tried the hopper months ago - love it's taste, vape, design and handling.
Want to have one since I have tried it . I'm really keen on it!

Following this thread over months and all the time there are the same probs.
Am I wasting my time?

Ok, there are GHs out there which - still - works of course. But I dont want to hazard dragging a blank. Actually there is a genuine risk.
Therefor it needs a little bit (?) of masochistic fatalism I dont have.

I dont understand, why GHL isnt able to solve their permanent technical probs over more than one year!?
Is it immanent to the construction? Is there really no way to solve issues? Nearly it seems so.

Patiently - no, humble - I'll wait for an all-clear.......hope its no waiting for Godot

LOL, ok first. Huge difference between failure and success. I merely used the word you did. So you settle down. I don't care if you have a different opinion but at least try to be accurate.

Idk man maybe it's how you're communicating with them. I've only had to send mine in once. Otherwise they have sent me parts. Also I had to correct the diagnosed path once. Caroline mad a mistake.

I'd be pissed too if it cost $6 a pop to send it ineach time. Understand I am not trying to say HL is doing a good job. Just saying that this thing is not an all out failure.. as you said in your post.

To add a little to the discussion...

I'm sympathetic to all who have needed warranty claims with their gh. Especially those who have had multiple claims for the same unit. I just completed the first leg of my first gh warranty claim (I still need to return the defective part) and it went very quickly and without issues. My new gh body is working great so far. I have not heard any stories here of ghl not honoring its warranty.

By comparison, I'm on my 3rd ff1 and 2nd Crafty. And I was lucky with both regarding trouble free customer service, based on stories read here. But neither was as effortless as ghl. And both of those units were on the market much longer than the gh. I also had issues with my v2 pro series 3. I just never bothered to deal with it.

The only vape I've owned that hasn't needed warranty attention is my pax2. And that's another company with a solid reputation and warranty (and props to @Ojan_at_PAX for his presence here and always ready to help approach. And he just seems like a really nice guy).

I digress. I guess my point is that these toys fail sometimes...even the ones that have been on the market for a while (or longer). For me, I love supporting a start up who successfully designed and produced something so unique. And I'm always watching for the next great thing (I love watching the New and Upcoming list).

So here's hoping the gh issues die down and eventually disappear. And that everyone has a perfectly working hopper.

Graphic story telling and grasshopping - a match match made in heaven! I've been reading comics for something like 50 years. If you're just starting out and would like some suggestions as to some must-read classics, send me a PM.

(As a majorly OCD collector, I would never bookmark one of my books that way, but then, I keep my collection in individual plastic sleeves with card board separators. :mental:)

I think it's fair to call the Hopper a failure at this point. The body they sent before this one lasted a whole week, and the one I have now (third replacement) is still having problems. I've seen people on reddit on their 9th claim etc. Products that are successful don't have people sending the product in 9 times because they can't get one that works. I've seen very few to no people that have said they haven't had to get a warranty replacement at least once, and I've seen a TON of people saying they've had to have multiple replacements.

If this was a beta test it might not be a failure, but as a full blown retail product the Grasshopper is absolutely a failure in my book. It may be the coolest vape there is but that's beside the point when it stops working every couple months.

My first one worked for about 3 or 4 months with no issues, so all of you guys thinking your hopper is perfect and everyone is just being too rough or abusing them...think again, your day will come unfortunately.

And yet I continue to send my money to GH. Thanks to those who posted the links to the ebay sellers.
I just received my SS hopper and it fires right up. I understand that there may be occasion to return for warranty. This platform is really unbeatable for me, even with the returns. I have owned 4 of these little machines and the stealth, mixed with convection cannot be matched. I leave the Ti in the truck, resting comfortably in the pen slot of my job book. The SS will be in trials daily to see if there is any body/backend heating differences. My Ti hopper gets hot at the back and through the clip at the end of the draw. Since the body is conducting the current to do the work, I expect a little heat. Especially with a taxed power source, dirty threads, restricted mouthpiece, or overpacked oven.
As an aside, the case from @Ratchett and Delta 3D is the cat's ass.

I am pretty OCD about my comics as well and would never use the hopper as a bookmark either. I even wear gloves when I read some of my comics and they're not even that valuable.

My avatar is from a comic book actually.

I should have my preorder Ti hopper soon, I can't wait to double it up with my SS in a y-adapter. I've been jealous of all the fun @MoltenTiger is having.

I'm also going to take a picture of the inside battery contact before I use it. I have a feeling the grid pattern will already be there.

My buddy that I suggested buy a GH just received his first replacement body today, after receiving a faulty unit.
He's having trouble with the batteries fitting the new body, they're too big diameter to fit.

Has anyone experienced this problem yet?

Edit: two of his four batteries fit.

I'm wondering if it just needs to acclimate to its new environment?
The back of a mail truck can have some rather extreme temp changes.

I had this but only with one cell, when I looked carefully it did look a tad wider than the others but seemed to me to be down to the wrap rather than the cell, to fix it I just rolled it on a flat surface while applying a little pressure from above...job done

Hi Just go the SS Hopper....Love it.. Question what battery charger do you use and are folks using non Hopper Labs battery?
Congratulations and welcome to fc!

I use the Nightcore d2 charger (recommended here and I love it). The gh batteries are custom; you have to get then from ghl. Personally, I suggest you have at least 3. Happy hopping!!!
