Discontinued The Grasshopper

I've also been here. It can be a little scary in public, because you might take a dank rip on accident if you go too high (say you took a hit on 1.4 and then go up to 3.2... 3.2 is gonna smeeeeell!). When I used it in a theater I used bright scenes to get the temperature I wanted. Otherwise, cell phone lights are what I've used. It's a little troublesome at times, but never that big an issue.

I find it scary just working the dial that much. I'm afraid it's gonna pop off.

I think the backend is generally pretty sturdy. Since I've been pushing down gently and twisting it seems to have gotten much smoother.

Also, I've twisted the dial from 1 to 5 and back many times in succession. It was without worry.

After a week using the Hopper:

- Now it is getting hot, unlike at first, both front and back (at times it's hot through the silicon tip)
- Draw resistance is strong, almost like sucking a pebble thru a straw, after using my Pro the other day, it was light years smoother hitting, albeit tasted like shit after about 5 hits, but you don't need to hit it nearly as hard
- Battery still sucks
- Flavor is top notch, I've only tasted shitty burnt taste the one time I ran it on 5, I run it at 2 exclusively, by far the best flavor, even when hitting on a nursed load
- A little bit goes a long way for sure, you can nurse a little herb
- Its a new way of smoking for me, the equivalent of eating at a Fondue joint, sometimes its not preferred

So far, I'd give it a 7 out of ten. I guess that makes me a detractor

Sounds like yours is developing problems, you should probably reach out to them for a warranty request..

You're probably right. I don't know what my friend will do. He sent them an email.

Forgot to add:
- It does the same red flashing lights when turning on sometimes, even on a fresh fully charged battery, like others said, if you turn it off and on a couple times it'll work fine

It works, but gets hot and a smidge quirky at times. No real complaints overall. Does what it says so far.

@Bass Vaper How much do you pack in? I only notice difficult draw resistance when I overpack it. The past 2 or 3 days I have been putting way less in. Now I will only get maybe 3 draws out of a bowl before it's toast and need to repack, rather than when I would pack in a TON and maybe get 5-7 long hard hits before it got toasted. It's pretty crazy how the proportions play with each other (sorry I'm not sure how to phrase it I have had a nice danksgiving).

Yeah, I'm a stickler for not having much draw resistance. If I pack 'right', it's nice and easy over here. Surprises me how quickly the mouth piece gauze bungs up and restricts the draw though.

Different strokes for different folks, innit. For me, this is everything I wanted the pinnacle to be :-)

Tamp it down a teensy bit and you should notice that problem severely reduced! I noticed this for a long time, and recently noticed that when it's too loose that is prone to happen. A pinch enough to tamp down a little has yet to make my screen dirty since last I cleaned it (last week).

Good summary, agreed. I was over packing it prob, and you're right the draw resistance is better when lightly packed. Agree with emmdeemo about the mouthpiece getting clogged up as well.

I think draw resistance is so individual. I like a slight resistance with a vaporizer. If it's too easy of a draw I don't usually like it, whereas others are the opposite. I avoid too tight of a draw. Packing your cannabis can help with that. I don't have a GH, just in general.:2c:

This thread has been a better read - thanks everyone for checking in with your Grasshoppers.

Damn it sounds like we share the same Hopper. It's definitely defective. I'm just waiting a little longer to send it back hoping they get these issues worked out.

I had the backend bust open again on my dark gray Ti.
I stepped out on the back deck at my aunt's house, clicked the clicker and nearly lost the entire contents of the backend as they sprung out.
I've been a big fan boy, but this is getting old.
On my 6th warranty claim from 3 units, a couple of those involved multiple units.
I don't see this as being a sustainable business model.

Is it possible some hoppers are shipped out with multiple defects, and the first time they fix one problem but not the problem that the hopper wasn't signalling for, causing someone to get another dead hopper

Absolutely. This is why I was pissed when they sent mine back the first time claiming a defective battery and charger. As a matter of fact, when I sent it to them it had multiple problems but only one was "addressed". This tells me that they don't fully investigate the issues. It broke the same day I got it back from them which makes me wonder if they even turned it on.

Last time I sent it back they asked me if I would like to upgrade to priority shipping for $10. I declined since regular mail got it to me in two days. But do you think this is some shitty way of trying to get the customer to cover the cost of shipping it back? We pay to ship busted hoppers in but they must be spending a shit ton on sending them all back.

It absolutely is way for them to get you to pay for shipping and for them to make a little extra money. Priority shipping is pretty cheap. I bet the hopper box would fit in a small flat rate box which is like $5.25 to ship.

Yep, seems like they are charging 10 bucks for a service that costs them half that.
Kinda bogus, hope that overcharging for shipping isn't the only thing that keeps them afloat...

For reasons like this it worries me they STILL offer a lifetime warranty. Again, great gesture early on, but continuing to do so could prove to be a bad business decision. I hope it is not.

Especially considering how many hoppers seem to need warranty replacements or multiple replacements.

I'd rather have a lifetime warranty and have to pay shipping BOTH ways than get stuck with a broken piece of junk.
But eventually, I guess that may become a moot point, since the company still needs to be around to honor the warranty. I don't have much faith anymore that they can even make something that lasts a year.
