As a backup and additional vape I like flame powered vapes like vapman or lotus. They are also great for camping trips because you don't need electricity, jut a butane bottle and a torch.

hey all,

first post.
i'm an october 2015 pre-order; i realize that this means i may not get my hopper until february,
or perhaps even never, but i try to be an optimist!

anyhow, i've been reading about bubblers,
and the one that has caught my attention is the d020-d (though if anyone wants to recommend something else, i'm all eyes and ears!). *edit* just looked at the d022. looks tasty too. good problem to have, i suppose.
seems like a fair price for what looks like an ideal at home rig with self and others!

three questions:
-would i need any sort of attachment, or does the grasshopper and its mouthpiece fit right in?
-second: there are a ton of bubblers out there. to reiterate one of my questions, are there other must-have rigs, not too exorbitantly priced, i should at least be considering?
-third: does anyone want to rec a super cheap vape, or just some pipe that i can purchase in the near term? my biggest consideration is that i need to keep the odor down. i do have a sploofy (not a diy one, but from the makers), but if i can add any reduction to that, i'm all for it.
Have you been to Buzz Danklin's site (vaporizerwizard.com) and vape critic? I'm pretty sure Buzz has a post of best vapes under $150.

Most glassware from DHgate includes a number of attachments that would allow use with the GH and silicone tip. An 18 to 14mm reducer adapter would probably be the best bet for bare back connections, but the glass on metal may cause scratches to either surface.

I have a D020 amongst a few pieces, I would definitely recommend the D020, but I think if I were buying today, this piece would take precedence. I think the matrix perc would be nicer, I like the shape, and the seller I have linked to makes some quality pieces. I have the 12" othership torus he produces, and the finish quality is top notch. Compared to my D020 it is properly flame polished and feels premium in comparison - but I paid less than half for the D020 so YMMV if you find one from a better seller. (I got mine from "bubbler" and it is second grade for sure)
There are infinity bongs on DHgate, so the choices are cut out for you.
EDIT: After further inspection, I actually think the FC-187 takes the aesthetic cake for small bubblers.

As for vapes, the MFLB is worth having, and you could probably sell it once you get a GH. I really don't rate them that highly, but they work (and are an ideal discreet minimal smell vape). I also have an Arizer Extreme Q desktop, it's pretty good and would compliment a GH quite nicely but it must be tethered to an outlet which is a big downside. It is a fairly budget desktop however.
I can't wait to get the GH so I can vape bong freely :D
From what I've seen so far, waiting for my GH is the best bet for myself, but if you don't have a vape at all definitely consider getting one - but the cheapest ones are probably not worth the worry IMO :)

jesus, thanks for all the help,
and jesus, where the hell to start?

d020?
fc-201?
fc torus?
fc-187?
infinity bongs?

how do i even begin to start distinguishing between them?

Thanks a ton @slcbdco pretty much what I was planning.

@TheWhisper it's interesting that yours doesn't press down. Are you able to tell if pressing slightly firm down on the dial makes it easier to turn? That is the case for me.

If the rear button is pushed in (Hopper on), then it makes turning the dial somewhat tougher. Otherwise, I don't notice anything.

The D020 is a great start, and will buy you plenty of time reading the cheap glass thread to pick your next glass tool.

Sorry to go off topic...but how are these all so cheap???

Chinese mass manufactured glass. The funny thing is, those aren't even the cheap ones. $50-60 like the ones linked are the more expensive glass on the site.

Interesting to see all of these leather cases! I was lucky enough to already have a leather case from a tamper I bought 3 or 4 years ago. It is a nice dark brown with white threading all around it. It is small, so it isn't like the $50 leather case (small purse?) that has been previously posted. It also doesn't cover the pen clip.

I have a Pelican 1150 case on the way for my vapes in transport, and never really planned on using a leather sleeve anyway. It's just funny that I have one. Here is an album if you're curious what it looks like: http://imgur.com/a/MHywq

slcbdco has converted me. I have gotten 6 fully extracted bowls per battery since only doing 1 or two pinches. I get the same amount of clouds (slightly less dense) but more flavorful and 3 hits usually kills it. So, holy cow, the Grasshopper continues to blow me away. And yes, I am not kidding when I say 6 bowls. Again, it's only a pinch (sometimes a tiny bit more than a pinch). Not even half chamber. It helps reduce draw resistance, which can be tough to breathe in from if there's too much in there. But, damn. I feel like I've gotten higher using less product as well, which is a large plus in itself.

If you haven't tried it yet, I do highly recommend at least giving it a few tries.

Also, a long time ago someone asked how vaping a nug without it being ground. I did it for that user, so...
It worked okay. Obviously, I would recommend grinding over nug. The nugs shrunk quite a bit, and vapor production wasn't a ton, but it tasted nice.

Its official, very little of this line up.

I'm almost certain somewhere in the PRC that there's a bunch of children slaving away with a torch and kiln making us goodies for pennies an hour. Fucking China dude, the logistics alone make 0 sense. I ran an eBay store for a few years, bet your ass I can't/couldn't ship anything the size of a decent bubbler for the total COST of their bubblers hand made and shipped (at least something like a d020 ~$25 shipped). My dhgate experiences have been great though, a Möbius clone is in my future I do believe.

Yeah Chris from vaporizerwizard (works with @BuzzDanklin) mentioned that using an unground nug works and I've also had success with that, I still think even a finger grind is worth the effort although I just posted on the mivape thread that I have the best results with a mivape when I just pinch off a tiny nug from a flower and throw it in the cup unground.

Just goes to show each vape is different to achieve the optimal usage. Welcome to the Grasshopper pinch club. I have also notice better battery life having gone back to a pinch, so glad to be back!

I notice they still list their ss case as an accessory. Haven't heard of anyone receiving one yet after the early production issues.

I got one of @Ratchett's leather cases for the gh in place of the ss case and I'm glad I did! It's BEAUTIFUL!!! And I don't even have my gh yet! Perfect gift to yourself for Christmas. I admit I got a 2nd one to give as a gift

Now I get to cancel my ss case...
me too @Mr. Me2 I couldn't wait for the sweet leather!!

Something I'm thinking about at the moment while using my grasshopper watching TV in a room with dimmed light:
I use my grasshopper by stepping up from 2,8 in the beginning and going up to 4,2. Then sometimes another draw through water on 5.
In a room with pretty dark dimmed light, it's difficult to find the right position of the temperature dial.
Maybe some after glow ink on the dial scale would help.

First of all, where you'r at, I've totally been there, yes I wish it was easier to tell the temp notches but more importantly ... WOW YOU'RE HIGH again totally been there! :science: #Grasshopperinspiredmisadventures

Could you explain that a little further?
Which part of the back end became loose?

@Mr. Niceguy Could you clarify, what is 2,8 and 4,2?
Is that setting and number of draws?

Thank you for this! How much herb + hits per bowl pack? Same temp or temp step?
@AgentXero sorry, just realized I hadn't responded to you.
I fill the chamber by gently pushing the GH into a small jar of ground material.
I'd say I get around 7 draws on average.
I usually start at 3, move up to 4 on the fourth draw, up to 5 on the sixth. There are times I could get another draw or two out as well.
I haven't used any of my other flower vapes since using the GH(other than the short replacement time up front). Not that I don't love my Crafty, my Firefly, my Solo, etc, I'm just not reaching for them.

I roll the temp dial all the way down and all the way up so I can estimate where the middle is and go from there. That won't work for the precision you're after though.

I've also been here. It can be a little scary in public, because you might take a dank rip on accident if you go too high (say you took a hit on 1.4 and then go up to 3.2... 3.2 is gonna smeeeeell!). When I used it in a theater I used bright scenes to get the temperature I wanted. Otherwise, cell phone lights are what I've used. It's a little troublesome at times, but never that big an issue.
