I am rather surprised they are still offering the lifetime warranty. You would think they would have dropped it to a few years for current orders... in fact i almost hope they do sometime soon.

I asked for a refund and got it within the same day I asked. I hope the vaporizer comes out but I had enough of the bullshit. The customer service was good so that's promising, but finding out about paypal's pre-order policy was the last straw for me.

Whats their policy if you don't mind me asking?

Interesting point of view. Curious, why?

Maybe it is because I want to feel all warm and toasty inside being one of the few lifetimers.

Or maybe i think for a company to offer a lifetime warranty beyond the first few hundred customers on any electronic device, might not makes sense for long term business success. Expecially a device that may be prone to relatively large amounts of failures from a relatively large percentage of customers over a lifetime as it gets passed around, dropped, sat on, heats up, is rather complex, ect.

Considering i have a vested interest in this company i certainly want them to be successful in the long term.

GHL has already been making what one could possibly view as unwise business decisions and IMO have shown themselves as a "rookie company" thus far. Shit happens, i know, but i personally think certain things could have been handled diffrently thus far and i simply hope a successful lifetime warranty isn't s gross underestimate or pipedream... that seems to be a GHL trademark.

Hmmm, what is this policy you mention?

Here's the PP Policy. Buyer protection is section 13. The way it reads to me is a buyer needs to file a dispute within 180 days of payment. Since GHL has been pretty good about refunds, it might not be tested yet what would happen if GH doesn't refund and the payment has gone past 180 days. Maybe this doesn't apply because of the crowd-funding part. I remember in the early days we just bought a vape and used it. Getting the company to success used to be their job. Now it's ours too.

I had already dealt with paypal about that 180 day policy (which is different from what is claimed on that reddit post) and I actually had to fill out paper work lol. There was no way to get a refund from the phone or internet. So if you hate paperwork like me remember that paypal is an asshole about it.

This is all I could find about pre-orders on that paypal page.
  • If the payment is for pre-ordered or made-to-order goods, shipment is required within the timeframe specified in your item listing. Otherwise, it is recommended that you ship all items within 7 Days after receipt of payment.

Does PayPal permit transactions for pre-sale items?
A pre-sale item is advertised for sale before the seller actually has the item. Often, these items are sold before they are available to the general public.

A seller might use the money from the pre-sale of an item to purchase the item.

PayPal permits pre-sales on a limited basis as long as the seller:

  • Guarantees shipment within 20 days from the date of purchase.
  • Clearly identifies the item as a pre-sale.
  • Provides proof, if needed, that they can successfully deliver the product (supplier information, purchase invoices, shipping information, or delivery confirmation).

I feel the need to chime in here since it seems to have turned toward the negative side. I just received one today, a used titanium model, and the performance absolutely blew me away. I would but it on par with the Crafty and the Mighty on the portable side and that is saying something too. Incredibly stealthy as my wife asked me where I got a new "pen" and when I proceeded to tell her it was a vaporizer she told me I was full of shit!

Anyway guys/girls I know it is easy to get frustrated and some of the business practices/decisions thus far been head scratchers but it is worth it...shit it is so worth it when it operates like it should. I mean you are getting a lifetime warranty for said patience and the grasshopper will change the portable vape game.

And this is coming from someone who WILL NOT have the lifetime warranty...it's that good!

I don't really care what paypal's policy is. I still purchased it with a credit card(via paypal) like most people likely did, and credit card companies almost always side with the customer. Seems like unnecessary stress to think about these kind of things especially when it appears that production and quality is increasing(still too early to know for sure, i know).

This is where I saw the paypal policy. https://www.reddit.com/r/GrassHoppe..._just_canceled_my_preorder_and_why_every_igg/

I probably should have looked into it more.

I don't know if you were persuaded by the other part of the reddit post, but let's go through what we know.

Let's list the negatives:

  • There's thousands of backers and pre-order customers who are still waiting to get their hoppers.
  • They've had quite a few hiccups with getting a reliable product out the door
  • They've been overestimating their shipping dates and stretching their goals and current production rate.
  • If you order now, you probably won't see a hopper for a good 3-6 months.
  • Mouthpiece get's hot and on some units the back-end heats up
I'm sure there's a few more, but the general consensus is that many people are getting impatient/worried. Now let's list the positives:

  • Has amazing reviews about the build quality, vapor, stealth, portability.
  • Has a very fair price point, arguably the best value portable on the market
  • Lifetime warranty
  • Great customer service
It comes down for people to determine if the pros outweigh the cons. One thing I know for sure, this isn't going to be a company that suddenly folds and tries to get away with a meager amount of cash left. These guys will fight tooth and nail down to the last dollar until they have to shut it down, they've invested more than 2 years of their lives in the creation of the Grasshopper, and we see the fruits of their labor. I feel pretty confident in saying that if you backed/pre-ordered, you'll get your hopper. The question is not if, it's when.
