I'm not sure how soon a person would recieve one of these bad boys? It's hard to know if production will be increased by much. The company has said that it will making more at a quicker pace.

I was thinking about getting one for myself for Christmas but if I ordered now I might not get one until next spring or summer. I would rather wait until I can order one and get it a week later. Why should I allow the company to use my money and I get no unit for 6 months or a year.

The units that have been working properly the owners are very satisfied for the most part.

Later down the line I will know that the bugs are worked out. It's OK if it's a little more money. I want it solid not with a lot of issues. Prices may initially go up but they will come back down. I fully expect the company to stop the lifetime warranty. A lifetime warranty is the lifetime of a company.

So far the company has been awesome replacing units that are faulty.

So I am extremely interested in buying one of these guys. Short of screening each page, however, i couldn't find anything on what people's view on metal toxicity is.
My first instinct is to just go for the stainless steel especially since the price is right. Titanium is cool but I don't really know if it is safe to smoke/vape out of. Sure, they have medical and food grade titanium, but I don't think it was intended to be heated up. Does anyone actually know for sure if titanium is non toxic when heated?
This goes double for anodized metal. It's twice as cool, but I'm also twice as uncertain if anodized titanium is safe to heat.

The metal will make no difference since the internal vapor path for the two are identical.

At the operating temperature of a vaporizer, I would not be concerned about metal toxicity.

I'd say the reason to order now is because the prices will go up once they have stock. Up to you, pay less now or keep the money in the bank gaining a whopping 2+/-% interest and buy later. On top of that, it is very likely that the lifetime warranty will disappear in future.

If you know you're going to want it the future, IMO order it now.

Don't the orbiters have a restricted air flow ? I always wondered this as it looks nice to add to my collection but I am not a fan of glass I have to pull hard with .

I don't find it particularly restricted but I'm not the guy to ask. The included whips reduce to stems at both ends (mouthpiece and inside the Wood/GonG part), which would be the source of most resistance. If you got yourself a 14mm mouthpiece and used the orbiter handheld, or if you could figure out a 14mm whip adapter which wasn't as restrictive (larger diameter whip), you'd probably eliminate any potentially bothersome restriction.

Then again if 14mm doesn't cut it for you and you require 18mm, then yes the Orbiter does have a restricted airflow.

I just did another battery test with my new backend, wich doesn't get warm at all.
This time I got about 27 x 12 second draws vs last time 20 x 15 sec draws.

I started at 1 and did 3 x 12 sec inhales.
(well, I timed each of them, from click on to click off it was 12 sec, so including heat up time, I did however always kept going after the click.)
then I did the same on 2 and so on and repeated after 5 with a fresh bowl.

The first time I did this, I had a backend that got really hot on high temps.
This time I got a new backend and I got a total of about 0.4 minutes extra use time out
of the battery.

Note that I haven't been treating the battery like it should have been treated, I charge it multiple times
a day and have not used any of the other batteries it came with, so maybe it already lost a draw in capacity or more? Also last time I did this, I didn't start at level 1 and I did 15 sec draws so this will also be a reason I got more draws out of the battery the second time.

All in all it seems the hot back end doesn't drain the battery that much at all.

Like the vid on the previous page you can get some good clouds dry or wet from this "little tea pot" as its affectionately called at home. Brought mine for the lotus print ally but happy to see it can be used with a good few vape's out there.

Ty , i noticed in the video it takes a bit before some visible vapor starts forming while i have seen other videos with a different piece and the visible vapor forms much quicker.

Another note on restriction: I've found that the cotton can be a bigger source of restriction if you over pack it. It takes a little trial and error to find the best way to pack it, but really you just want enough cotton to absorb the oil. I'm looking forward to a better "oil adapter" solution, since the cotton can be a bit of a pain at times. I think something like a Volcano pad would work great, except I'm not sure if it's ok to have anything electrically conductive in the oven?

For now the cotton works for sure, for me.

I'm more concerned about the hot mouthpiece and the unit in general getting hot. But anyway, I did a lot of searching and I think that titanium is safe. It's hard to find anything at least in the context of smoking. I mostly found smoke sites selling glass and titanium "nails".
The closest thing I could think of with the best answers is in cookware so I started looking around for paralells.

I'm inferring that titanium is at least as safe as stainless steel. Anodizing is my last concern left, but I might just get a bare metal one anyway cause it looks cool.

You have to use batteries from Them, there are no others like them on the market (proprietary). You might try to see if you can order extra from GHL before it ships.

nope , only gh batteries work in the gh , i think they are $7 on there site.

I can guarantee that these batteries are not proprietary to GH. It would be incredibly expensive to get batteries made specific to your device. These are rebranded batteries. 100% there are other types of devices using this size battery. The problem is that this may not be a size that is sold to consumers and only used in industry. If someone can give me battery height and diameter I may be able to find out if there is another source to buy them.

I have a DMM (Digital Multimeter), I'll be checking out some of the electrical properties of the unit. I can't just let your tooth have all the fun! Sort of hoping I get a faulty unit just so I can see how bad it is.

I put the Multimeter on the hopper where I felt the tingle on my tongue. Came up 3.6v Verry Intewesting, guess you can check the battery voltage by touching the clicker and the body. Shocking way to adjust the temp control though.

Proprietary or not , I feel $7 is reasonable for them , specs are listed on there site
12.4mm Diameter X 63.0mm Length (0.49in X 2.48in) they are a bit skinnier and longer than a standard AA i believe.

Reguardless if u received a faulty one or just one that worked then a month later didn't work you have a LIFETIME WARRANTY and on that note they are very quick to send u a replacement just ask anybody that has received a faulty one or one that didn't work ask them how fast they got their replacements. BTW to the person that said he doesn't know if titanium is intended to be heated up and healthy for u TRUST ME when I tell u they don't wanna be sued for making a product that is harmful to the consumer or that can eventually kill u they wouldn't have chose titanium if that would have lead to that so you are good with the titanium it can be heated up

Pretty sure everyone else is correct. GHL was unable to find a battery with the requirements necessary in the space available for their vaporizer. They did in fact special order a custom battery.

Hey Everyone,

We returned from a long and successful trip in China this last weekend. After spending over two weeks visiting manufacturers and solving problems on the spot, it was obvious that such a trip was necessary.

The Grasshopper battery has been one of the biggest challenges of the project. Its custom size and insane discharge requirements made it hard to design and even harder to manufacture. Naturally, we were excited to visit our factory and see what we had invested in. The results were good. The factory was working on labeling and testing some of our second-batch batteries.

Of course I fully expect we'll quickly see more vendors in China selling the exact same battery under different brand names in the near future as more grasshoppers make their way in to customer's hands.

If there is a manufacturer's branding somewhere to be found on the alleged "proprietary" battery (peel the skin), then... If yes, then there will be a pirate somewhere in the world (Chinese or otherwise) who will make contact with the manufacturer and commence with ordering same from there.
