They do not use any temperature sensor but rather use ohm's law to calculate via a known coefficient.

i certainly don't know, and you may be right, but i kind of thought the 3-d printed heater could be used as a thermocouple itself, thus having a direct readout of the heater temperature. maybe not as nice a response as a k-type thermocouple, but should be pretty easy to measure and calibrate. (just my speculator running on high)

I received my Hopper on July 30 and it has worked great. Today though I noticed that the back end has started to make a rapid clicking noise. It is loudest at three and quieter at one and five. This has not caused any other problems. I mostly use my Hopper at the max setting as my state sucks and I can only find low quality meds.

It's odd that yours is just starting to do it. I don't know how loud it is normally, I've just heard that some clicking is normal.

So if you order this vape it is almost guaranteed to fail. I don't see this life time warranty going well.

I hope not because i just ordered mine. The ship date for new orders isn't even till October. I figured maybe in a couple months the hoppers will be better, Also the price is about to go up and i been following this since i missed the indigogo by a couple months.

I don't know, the lifetime warranty might be a good selling point for them. The way I see it, the product is either going to work fine, and warranty service will be fairly low... or... if there's real problems with the product, even a shorter warranty of a year or two won't help the company much. 3 year, ten year, lifetime warranties are worth about all the same with a new company. The first year or two is really what will make or break them.

There's only a couple of ways I can see the situation unfolding...

One is... a few vapes were assembled incorrectly, and income from pre-orders will fund early replacements.

The second is..if there are more widespread problems, that might require new parts design, then the product for both early backers and pre-orders would need to be re-done. I have no idea how in the second scenario enough money could keep flowing in to fix past and future hoppers if there were major issues.

Maybe it's better for the company to just trickle the units out a handful at a time, until it's known which scenario is happening?

Agreed. I think that's the best call at this point. They're committed to making shipments at some level to keep new buyers joining in the way I see it. One might say 'buying some time' while they work out the problems. Others might say 'not digging themselves in deeper' (by putting more units in the field to be replaced later).

No matter the details, I too think small numbers are part of a plan. Which is, in a fun way, a good sign? Reassuring even.

Be interesting to see the report tomorrow.

@OF , I agree its a smart move to work in small batches, but at the same time they give us updates saying thousands per week are coming, shipping is ramping up, problems are fixed... right? Right.. the more I say it the more its gonna be true.

Not even antsy for the next update, I'm sure we could all assume what its going to say. I'll put my foot in my mouth otherwise, but blind optimism isn't a good strategy in my experience.

Wow, looks promising, but it's still to early, it needs to be tested in many ways before it can be a complete product, in my opppinion...

Let's se how move its creators for fixing the problems, because that will show how seriously they take its product quality. Sure they act well.

I think it will be a really nice portable in a year or so. I'll keep an eye on it :)
Thanks for the review!

Has there been anyone here who has received a hopper that did not have problems with it and it functioned flawlessly out of the box?

I've had mine (SS) for a few weeks now. Have had no problems - I've even dropped it a few times. It is used heavily daily, pretty much always on Setting 5. Cleaned it twice in that time. I must admit, I haven't wanted to use anything else since I got it.

I agree with this and I think I am going to ask GHL to put me at the back of the list .
At this point I am no hurry to get my Hopper and I would rather wait until they figure things out .
But I will wait until after the update !

I never remember the early reviewers even mentioning a little heat?? You think buzz and his roommate would have said something after that first video.

Interesting observation. I literraly was just texting with Trevor about that this morning. He asked me for an update on my unit since he knows I've been on a road trip so it's being used heavily and a lot of people are getting the chance to try so he's looking for that feedback. Here is something I've noticed (cue GH tea party lynch mob) ANNECDOTALLY of course ....

IF a person who knows what a GH is BEFORE they try it, they notice the heat of the mouthpiece.

IF a person has NO IDEA what it is before they try it they do NOT notice (rather complain) about the heat.

Example I was in Philly a few days ago, let folks try it who had no idea what it was. They made all sorts of comments (overwhelming positive, some critical) but no one even mentioned the heat.

Conversely I ran into an FC member and after a few his he mentioned the heat.

Last night when I arrived here in VT a few people have tried it, again mostly positive comments (for context these people primarly consume through smoking, NOT primarly through vapor so it's a different demographic, it's does happen to be the GH target Demographic, wisely so as people who don't vape at all still far out number people who only vape) but no one even mentioned the heat of the mouthpiece. I didn't bring it up because I wanted to illicit organic comments. Many things were mentioned heat wasn't one of them.

Which jives with my own experience. When I got it I was anticipating some heat so I noticed it. Now that I've had it awhile I never complain about the heat or use the silicone. My point is that heat gate is at best subjective, certainly not this awful thing it's played up to be.

I caution you to consider we don't get an objective view of the real 'big picture'. As the saying goes, we get 'lots of self identified malcontents'.

See the Mivape thread for the exact opposite experience :-)

It's odd that yours is just starting to do it. I don't know how loud it is normally, I've just heard that some clicking is normal.

Clicking is normal, it's actually the sound of the cycling and I've started to notice it more as well, that's normal.

I've had mine for many weeks, I've been on a week long vacation with it, on a month long road trip, I've also dropped mine and used the fuck out of it and it is also my go to device! Do some have defects? Yup, see the MiVApe thread to see how a product launch goes for an already established company and what reasonable expectations and commentary look like. The units that aren't defective which is MOST btw are awesome. I have yet in my travels find someone who didn't immediately want a GH after trying it. And it is durability for me has been great the past month or so and 16 states of travel ;-)

There's not enough working units among FCers to get a real conversation going about this vaporizer. Either folks are waiting for theirs or the unit is faulty. Just a couple of FCers with great reviews and FCer @nopartofme had a great review and this isn't a unit that he received for free to advertise. Not that I don't believe the other reviews.

Sounds like a fun trip. Your friends and that FCer were lucky to be able to play with your gh!

So I've had my ti hopper for almost a week and have been using it a lot. So far I like it but don't love it. Hear are some random thoughts.

When you hold it in your hand it looks and feels like a quality device not just some hunk of plastic.

I do get heat at the back end but not all the time.

The mouth piece does get to hot after just a few back to back hits (3 or 4 big hits) but it also cools down fairly quickly so I don't use the silicone extender I just wait a little in-between hits. I find if you unscrew the tip and blow into the back end of it it cools off very fast.

The near instant heat up time is great and you can get some real big clouds out of this thing.

The vapor is kinda harsh/hot which is to be expected of the short vapor path. I would compare it to PNP or INH in that regard.

The main drawback for me is flavor, imo it's just bad, even at lower temps it leaves a bad after taste in your mouth. I was hoping the bad taste would go away after some use but after a week of heavy use my hope is dwindling.

Don't mean to offend you. At least the mivape guys are onboard and do reply and care about the issues. Wish I could say that about GHL. :(

It's totally nice to hear that your experience is so awesome, really - sadly I have barely heard of positive reviews. Always sounds a lil pro-GHL and defending what I can read from you compared with what other people report, along with devastating feedback - quality wise. I know, if it works it's gonna be awesome - even a reddit guy said that, after his GH died within 1,5 minutes (!!!!) - but it appears to me that there's so many defective units with several severe issues out there, people go crazy about it, lose confidence and cancel orders etc. Don't get me wrong, I'm also hoping the best for GH(L), but these stories give me a totally different picture... And there's plenty of em.
You mentioned several times your connection to Trevor, please suggest him to join here. It surely will help everyone - think it should be part of their customer care strategy anyway to have someone around... No one likes intransparency, especially when there's so much anger/disappointment /you name it goin on.

So again, don't mean to be offending you - Just my 2cents, if I'm totally wrong with my view, even better! :)
