Hey everyone, I’ve got got myself a custom wenge Z and I absolutely love it. It’s the first vape I’ve used that can replicate the effects of a bong. I’ve got it running on a paranormal 250C using an older @HerbieVonVapster profile at 255 degrees celsius, no hot spots, never combusted. Basically instant clouds. I tried going back to watt mode the other day but it lacks the initial kick of TC mode.

But anyway, the reason for this post was to ask if anyone does anything to care for the wood on their splinter? I want mine to last as long as possible and figure the heat could cause the wood to dry out and crack over time.

I give my wooden vapes a portion of Ed's Bomb Ass Butter from time to time. There are different waxes and oils and stuff outside to care for wood, but with nothing around, some good olive oil will do the job too :)

The good news is my custom PH arrived a day early! The bad news is that the glass has come unglued from the body. I’ve emailed VG who I know will take good care of me.

In the meantime I grabbed my v1 and ran it on my DNA mod in TC using Herbie’s settings. Until now, I’ve always preferred watts and couldn’t get consistently good results with TC. However recently I started reading through the earliest pages of this thread, and came across a post by Herbie where he had put up graphs of a Z running in wattage mode versus TC mode, and a discussion about how draw speed creates different effects in the two modes.

Well, that post clicked something for me, because now TC feels incredibly intuitive and I’ve been able to get some massive, tasty hits with commiserate clouds. This is with both the XL8R and the Jr. and through water. TC, properly understood and applied, does indeed take the Z to another level. Of course this means I’ll now need to get a better DNA mod, one that takes two 21700 batteries.

I am truly in awe of the versatility of this vape. My appreciation for it only deepens with each session.

I know if I were to buy a 21700 mod (With or without DNA) I would start buying 21700 stuff and I have too many 18650's in use (and new).

Has anyone tried to use any woodcare products on the Chinese made Splinter/Splinter Z?

My Splinter V2 has a finish that feels almost like glass and I don't think the wood would soak up much wood conditioner.

My bubinga Z from @VapeFiend.com will be arriving today! I'm guessing it's a v1? Looking forward to trying it out, already have a splinter US custom and v2, so excited to try their big brother!

Talking about big mods- ill probably be pairing it with my massive 5200mah dna200 that my mate made me. Battery lasts literally months on that thing! :rofl:

Are people preferring TC to wattage then? I've always preferred wattage with my other splinters...

I forgot to mention that in TC my ABV came out very evenly, stirring every 3-4 hits and rotating the stem every 2.

Doh! That sucks. My Wenge Z also suffered this fate. It gets used the least so it bothered me big time. I’ve sent mine off (VGoodiez said it needed to go to Ryan directly.) it shows delivered but no additional info. Let me know if you hear anything and what goes on.

@RastaBuddhaTao has that guy made it to you yet?

That pic is giving me bad anxiety... Looks a little top-heavy in a couple different places, especially the hydra tube on the right that sits on top of that narrow section of glass.

For sure, wouldn't want to knock it over from the table! I'm pretty cautious though, never leave it on the joint like that, just for the pic. The hydrotube meanwhile is pretty stable since the devastator knock off has a pretty wide base, but yeah gotta be careful, only whip it out for special occasions. I actually would prefer one of those hydrobases for that very reason, got this one before those were available on DHgate...

Same thing happened to my custom Z after a month of use. RBT received it about 2 weeks ago and I haven’t heard anything. Seems like this problem isn’t rare. I think there should be better communication when it comes to warranty issue. I have no idea when I will be getting mine back.

know Im in good company. Mine had the least use of all of my 510s, and fem glass slipped right out. Shipped and “delivered” but no indication of receipt. I’m not in any particular rush, but would like to know the status.
