Hi all, first of all thanks to all who share the knowledge here, I've been using a FV for a year now and I bought it because of the info shared in this thread and the fact the company uses this forum for communicating with their customers.
I had a bit of bad luck with the first one I received, after some use it didn't get hot enough for convection and every time I changed the heating screen things worked well for a couple of days and then gradually it would loose heating capability again.
So I wasn't sad when it broke down completely and was replaced by the online shop where I purchased it.
The second one I received works better but not as good as most members who own one have described in this thread. I did also buy the power supply (from CA, no one sold them in Europe at the time) which works fine. (tip: if you pull up the cord from the bottom of the vape upwards and put a rubber ban around the vape and the cord it will not fall over that easily anymore) but even in S1 with the power on 10 it needs 5-8 seconds to get a bit of heat in.
Anyhow: with S2 and the cells that come with that the FV works nicely as long as I give it about 8 seconds before starting to inhale and I like the hits that gives so I'm satisfied for the moment.
But now I've run into some nice oil and I would like some tips on how to use that in the Flashvape.
I've ordered the dabber set but the instruction video on Flasvape's site has disappeared and I haven't found any instructions on how to use the dabber in this thread. You need to remove the glass to get the dabber on the titanium plate (seated directly on the heating screen) but does that not mean the vapor just flies out of the top?
Should I use my thumb to cover the hole?
I'm afraid my FV will not get hot enough with the titanium plate and Pakalolo described another way to vape the oil in a 'nuget' what kind of stuff did you use to soak the oil in Pakalolo, cotton-wool?
All tips on how to use oil in a FV are welcome and yes I will order a FVT as soon as I can afford it (would be a nice Chrismas gift to myself).
Do you have the FV Turbo, which heats up faster and hotter? Unfortunately, if yours is taking that long to heat up then the dabbing kit will be useless. It might get hot enough to produce vapour but it will be nothing like dabbing with a nail. You would be better off to dab directly onto the heater screen, which I have done successfully. I'm not sure what the long-term effects of that would be, but the few tests I made did not hurt the heater screen at all. Incidentally, with both the FV Turbo and the FV Classic, the PA at 10 does not get as hot as the S2 (3.7V) battery does.
You are correct that you have to remove the top glass if you want to dab directly on the plate. You also have to remove the top screen, which I recommend that most people avoid because getting it back in place can be frustrating. You can still pull through the stem as usual to inhale the vapour, but it will whistle like crazy and you'll be getting a lot of air. You will get the vapour, but it's not a satisfying experience in my opinion.
The nugget I think you mean was produced by rolling some oil in ground flowers and just using that in the normal way. I have used cotton as a substrate and there are other materials around, such as hemp fiber. I'd stick to that sort of technique, and if you can cancel the dabbing kit order or return it, do so. Don't bother trying it. It was a nice idea but it just doesn't really work.
