I've been using my 9 in capsule mode since I received it but switched to bowl mode when I needed to clean all the reclaim.
After almost two weeks I have hardly any reclaim using the same bud strains. Very strange...
I also noticed the following differences using bowl mode:
- use slightly less bud and pack the bowl down a bit less (but still slightly below the air holes).
- vape at 320 (my temps are 300/320/340).
- finger tips healing.
In capsule mode I would add bud past the top of the capsule and it would pack down a little less than flush with the top. When I did that with my first few sessions in bowl mode it was difficult to draw much vapor.
I've been sticking with 320 because at 340 the bud touching the sides of the capsule would start to char and the center would still be greenish. I've also been stirring the bowl after a few hits to get even roasting.
The last point is just a little humor... Funny 'cause it's true - I don't use tweezers.
Anyone else need to change things up when switching modes?
Now that I've used the 9 for several months (and previously using the 4 from release until its unfortunate demise awhile ago) I would like to see the following features in the 10 and up (hope Marc
@firewood is open to suggestions):
- bring back the button-less heat activation and modes from the 4. The button location isn't great for people with arthritis! Or keep the button but add a mode for button-less heat activation.
- one or two additional heat settings.
- keep the capsule/bowl options from the 9
- keep the battery/on-board charging from the 9.
- no bevel (just flat) on the bottom to make the unit more stable when putting it on a flat surface.
- make the top to the bowl mode larger/beefier. It is too small and feels fragile. Not sure how to incorporate a tamper into a larger piece without it feeling fragile though. Also, It would be cool if you sold just the ceramic part and/or a small cube of walnut to carve our own shapes!
With all that said, and as much as I miss my 4, I absolutely love the 9 - it's my nightly driver.
