Now that that problem is solved...anyone have any feedback on how long it usually take Marc to respond to emails for repairs? Otherwise, anyone ever heard of anyone diy'ing a battery replacement, he builds them so well, i dont see any seams to take it apart and will only do that as a last ditch option if i cant just send it in.
I emailed him recently about my broken oven tab and it took me about a week to get back to me

Sorry meant to reply to that question as well, I don't think there is any usual, it depends what's going on with him at the time, send an email and see... Follow up in a week give or take if you are still waiting without response? He should still be able to repair that yeah

i'm fiddling around with a 3d pellet press for a mighty that i'm shrinking down to fit the fw bowl too to hopefully make loading unloading a little easier.

I like the pellet idea. I might experiment with that myself. Seems like it'd be pretty simple to make a pellet press out of wood. Makes sense for the firewood because it works well tightly packed.

So, the fw8 and 9 i got, both have the wooden capsules, does anyone have experience with these vs the ceramic capsules? My assumption would be that i would get more conduction heating and possibly bigger rips with the ceramic but just making assumptions. Also, even if it does improve it, is it worth buying some or is it so marginal that i should just stick with the wood ones and save my $.

im not sure exactly, its what they looked like to me but someone on reddit said theyre ceramic but just look brown and wood like from heating and collecting oils, seems plausible to me since everyone concurs they know nothing about wood bowls/capsules being an option. I'll try to upload a pic later but its prob me being a noob and making assumptions.

Does anyone know of a video or guide to dissassemble the Firewood 9 for cleaning? The user manual doesn't really explain how to take it apart for cleaning.

Thanks

Are you using bowl or capsule mode? For bowl mode you just unscrew the wood ring on top that holds the ceramic disc and capsule in place. Then slide the bottom wood panel off - do it slowly so you don't lose the silver wire 'spring' - and take the ceramic elbow piece out.

I always have trouble getting the bottom wood panel into place without damaging the spring. Does anyone have any techniques to keep the spring in the correct place when putting the panel back on? Mine seems to put a lot of pressure on the panel.

What specifically are you looking for? Manual has pictures showing what are generally the least intuitive parts of disassembly (unscrewing the oven ring for bowl mode, removing the oven elbow joint for both), and there’s not really much more to it than removing the capsule, plug, mouthpiece and oven joint.

I always have trouble getting the bottom wood panel into place without damaging the spring. Does anyone have any techniques to keep the spring in the correct place when putting the panel back on? Mine seems to put a lot of pressure on the panel.
I lately have been inserting the spring, closing halfway, making sure the spring’s arms aren’t caught, then just whacking the back of the wood panel to close it the remaining way. Probably not the best considering the scratches on my oven joint, but it mostly works!

For anyone trying to figure out proper FW9 assembly/disassembly, I highly recommend you check out Marc's own video going over every part on the Firewood 9! You can find it here:

I missed the part where you unscrew the top part , mine was kinda hard to twist so i never tried to force it . Now i have been able to dissamble and clean the part ... I kinda abused it since i got it because it was dirty down there lol...

Thanks for the info,

I love the F9 but I also hate it. As a device it burns better than any of my other vapes and has clouds like no other but the clicking options for custom heat feel opaque and I've never really ventured outside the 3 default click and hold settings in the manual. My main point of contention is the dang ignite button itself! It's shallow and oddly concave so it's easy for me to hit part of the side panel of the button and not the trigger to turn the device on.

It sucks because as a vape it's so dang good and easy to use that I've taken to using it daily but the initial problem with the button gets worse over the time I've used mine. Is there a way to maybe reposition the button myself or would I need to send it in?

Yeah the button has always left much to be desired unfortunately, but setting the custom temp presets is actually much easier than it seems, once you learn the pattern of the button press and vibration, it is seamless imo And I could even change the temps on the go easily if I wanted although I just let them sit where they are after setting up

Anybody know how to clean the bowl inside the F9? The glass stem and ceramic bit is easy to do as described in the manual but I've seen the bowl inside get dirty too and it's a little less intuitive as to how to get it cleaned. Is it ok to use ISO so close to the wood and give it a swab with cotton? Additionally, would that make the metal bits holding the screen in place corrode if I used ISO near it?

I'm not sure what you mean by metal bits holding screen in place... But it is perfectly fine to use damp iso qtip carefully swabbing there to just clean the dirty ceramic oils

Can anyone recommend a glass bong on the smaller side that work well with the Firewood? I like the MkII Globe that Sneaky Pete sells but it's expensive and larger than I'd like.
