Hey all! I’m going to be grabbing a firewood 9 here pretty soon to upgrade my battery op game. Before I do I would like to know approximately how much weight a single bowl holds.

Also, seeing that the capsules are ceramic do I have it right that the capsules are really just extra entire ovens that are swappable? Or are they ceramic capsules that fit in the ceramic bowl? Thanks in advance!

Depends on the pack, but should hold about 0.3g at most. I normally run mine with about 0.1-0.15g, roughly about the capacity of a 75-100% filled dynavap oven and that’s about the minimum I can tamp with the built in tamping tool.

They’re entire oven linings! They sit inside a coil of stainless steel wire in the main oven compartment. If you only use capsule mode, you’ll want to be careful about following the firm tamp instructions, pretty much everyone has had little bits of herb work their way out of the bowl and combust on the wire if they didn’t pack firmly enough or accidentally shake the vape.

Don’t love that, but I will likely be ordering the bowl version anyway. Seems like less hassle. Thanks for the bowl size info. I was hoping for about .2 and that seems like it’s right in the strike zone between min and max!

Yeah, I really like capsule mode since I can keep things clean very easily, but the occasional scraps kinda ruin it when I’m out and about. Nowadays I usually only use capsule mode when I’ll be stationary when using, bowl mode if I’m taking it on a walk.

Do you fill up once and go, or take a doob tube along?

I sometimes head out with a small Fireball bottle, as it’ll easily hold 7 grams.

For short trips, usually just fill it up before I go since I’m a one and doner. For weekend trips I usually pack the filled capsules in a caddy and use in capsule mode, but with my firewood 7 I always would pack a doob tube or equivalent and load whenever I got to my destination.

Is cleaning a pain and would the bowl stink like crazy after a while? You’d mentioned not shaking it while using capsules, but does bowl mode not allow the material into the heating element in the same way? I’d want it to be capable of throwing in a pocket and using on the go as well as at home.

Probably, I disassemble and clean my devices that I’ve used that week every weekend and usually brush off the screen after I dump out the abv. With my current strains I find the screen gunks up badly after 2 bowls so I usually swap the capsules as needed.

Bowl mode adds a ceramic spacer up top that when combined with a capsule creates basically the same oven structure of the Firewood7 with a row of tiny vents where the ceramic meets. It’s not perfect since the smallest crumbs will still slip through, but much better than the complete lack of a guard in capsule mode. Packing fairly firmly should further reduce potential spills (I think the manual has a diagram or instructions on how to properly tamp?).

Oh I just found the manual on the website. This is really helpful. Thanks for that!

It also came with my firewood, but more and more places are omitting the physical manual so I wouldn’t be surprised if it no longer comes with the device. Hope you enjoy it! The 7 and now 9 are my current all round favourites with other more specialised devices taking niche roles in my rotation

It's not bad, just regular maintenance, it is a bit mindful as all, good pack and grind for loading the chambers, a little bit orientation to keep it up right, but that is not necessarily necessary... It is not like a huge problem, just one crumb can spoil the flavor is all, it doesn't make things dirtier or stinkier, unless hypothetically it got worse and worse over time without you checking it? but it is easy to stay on top of for me at least (they are like removable oven chambers, but can be used also like capsules, either way you get benefit of having them with either version, so you can fully clean everything regardless)

Thanks for the feedback!

Yes, as I understand it, no matter how beautiful it is, after the convective TM2, I am unlikely to admire the conductive effect of Firewood.

The frequently changing design of Firewood is also confusing. I look at the models of Firewood -they are all different in appearance. I wonder what the situation is with spare parts. In addition, I have not found Firewood anywhere in well-known stores like Vgoodiez or POV....Buying a device is not that easy..

I don't think you will find Firewood vapes on any of the vape sites, at least not soon.

There were numerous times when people had to wait for them to be available on Sunday or Wednesday.

Marc's changes and improvements make each version better than the previous version (let's leave FW8 on the side).

Unless supply exceeds supply he has no incentive to sell wholesale.

Has anyone noticed after heating and taking more than a couple hits, you feel resistance from some reclaim/oil (I think it’s in the stem tip). It’s more noticeable when I’m grinding medium instead of coarse. I clean weekly but this happens after around 3 days of use, 4 times a day. You can feel the oil sort of bubbling in the stem. Any tips on minimizing this beyond just grinding coarser? I haven’t found holding it in different directions makes much difference.

Do you use the capsule or bowl configuration? I definitely notice similar restrictions over time in mine with the more resinous strains I’ve been using lately (always medium grind), but haven’t heard a bubbling sound. I’ve noticed all of the following helped in my case, but ymmv:

- stir every few hits. Doesn’t do much but helps cook evenly and sometimes helps when things get very compacted after a hard draw or when I used to twax in my firewoods

- replacing/cleaning the capsule every 2 uses since the screen gets gunky. Can probably stretch further but I have 4 so it’s really easy to rotate

- when in bowl mode (or with my fw7) after emptying I take a small brush (currently the s&b cleaning brushes, but any stiff bristles would work), put it in the oven and give a couple twirls then blow firmly through the mouthpiece to dislodge stuck bits. Works slightly better when the oven is warm but not too hot

- check the stem. With my current strain, fines (I assume kief?) get sucked through the capsule screen and end up getting stuck to the oven side of the mouthpiece after a few uses. Wiping it off or running under hot water helps, but it’s usually a sign I’m due for a cleaning with iso (or whatever cleaner you use)

- if none of the above work, next time I remove the capsule I additionally make sure to check the spring. Been noticing if it’s positioned poorly or the bowl adapter is too tight that REALLY restricts the airflow

Thanks for the tips. I have the bowl version. I probably just need to clean it more often. Biweekly might be the best schedule for me. I like how easy it is to clean. Is ISO soaking the ceramic parts the best way to clean them?.

I usually soak the crucibles for like 5 minutes then rinse under hot running tap water, sometimes blowing through both ends if needed to dislodge particularly stubborn bits. I do the same with the elbow joint but leave the end with the o ring above the iso line when I’m feeling lazy, but usually try to scrub it with an iso dipped swab before the hot water rinse. Then I leave them to dry for a few hours to overnight with the rest of the glass I cleaned before reassembling.

Does the Revolve Gen 2 stem work with the third party stem adapter on the FW9? Any best practices with it? I’ve seen mixed results by searching here and Reddit. Seems like it fits, but people add felt so it’s snug?

Sad day, discovered that when I accidentally knocked my Firewood 9 off the end table a few weeks ago I broke one of the wood tabs behind the oven elbow. Does anyone know of what to look for in a heat safe wood glue or have any recommendations? I’d rather try to fix it myself if I can but might have to reach out to Marc for a replacement if there aren’t any safe glues out there

On my FW7, it doesn't work because the silicone sleeve of the 8mm adapter can't go far enough into the Revolve to engage the adapter's O-ring, so it doesn't stay together. It might be fixable with another O-ring, but why bother, there are plenty of alternative stems that work

I've noticed that if I stand the Firewood 9 with the stem pointing up after usage, the hot reclaim runs down the stem into the narrow piece at the bottom, blocking the airflow or sometimes just bubbling.

The solution was to always lay the vape down after usage so the stem is horizontal.
