Since I wasn't sure if starting a gear thread was appropriate, and how active this thread was, I just decided to leave my review of my DynaStashER here. Please let me know if that's not appropriate.
TL;DR: Since I got the woody Ti and the DynaStashER, I don’t use anything else for concentrate other than a rig, which I usually only break out once or twice a week. It’s also probably the best tasting device I have, and the only thing I trust to transport concentrate, period.
You can still buy a DynaStashER through indiegogo
Full disclosure, I agreed to review the unit in exchange for receiving it early. I paid full backer price.
I’ll start this review by providing a little support story. It’s also the story of how I came to own the DynaStashER about 6 weeks ago, and the beginning of how I came to embrace my Vapcap as an everyday device.
I bought an OG vapcap simply out of curiosity, and the fact that $30 is the crazy lowest number I’ve ever heard of to get vapor instead of combustion. I assumed I couldn’t lose and, for the money, the function the OG vapcap is amazing. I only got to use it for about 5 days before I managed to break/lose several pieces while cleaning. I was discouraged, felt dumb for not picking up spare parts in my order, and shelved the unit for something like 2 weeks…
But, once more excitement and other success stories around the Vapcap started to appear, I was compelled to try it again. I had to bust it out and figure out what I could do to salvage the functional pieces I had left. I tried to replace the screen clip with a paperclip – which caused the glass body to overheat along where the paperclip touched it. The body shattered; oops. I emailed George about this and he was super interested. I thought he was going to be short, and treat me like an idiot who didn’t care about his product and who mishandled it. He actually wanted to know more, to understand what I needed to get back up and running as well as how I damaged it, and, since I had been drooling over them, to get me hooked up with a Woody Ti instead. There was a lot of back and forth, at one point I mentioned I was a backer for the DynaStashER and that I wanted to try to get my woody matched up with the one I would receive eventually. George said he happened to have a DynaStashER but, we wouldn’t be able to coordinate the colors. I was super excited and pulled the trigger as modestly as possible: I felt like I was getting a huge opportunity, and an accessory that I thought would turn the Vapcap into a daily driver. I was totally right. George nailed my customer service experience and turned me into a true believer in the simplicity and elegance of his designs.
I have to start with the material quality. Obviously the wood used contributes to the overall luxury feel of the DynaStashER. I ended up with a Bocote wood which I think has a really amazing texture and some very pretty contrast. The finish on all the corners and beveled contours are all A+, there’s nothing rough, catching, or unpolished about the entire unit, inside or out. The Dynavap.com logo engraving is reasonably subtle although I might have preferred it on the bottom of the unit instead of across the face, the finish and quality is great: the engraving is deep without being a pocket for lint and debris. The friction on the lid with the body of the DynaStashER is basically perfect, it was fit so that there is slightly more resistance when the lid goes wider than about 45º past open. The lid fits absolutely flush, I don’t think I’ve seen any foreign debris in the lid crack much rather getting under it. I’m sure the Bocote wood has something to do with it too, but, the hardware that attaches the lid is also very well matched. All of the storage holes are finished through and through, and I’ve had no trepidations about dumping top shelf flower into the dry storage section. There’s a few other materials in construction but the best tangent is going to be the extract dabber.
The handle is (of course) matched to the body of the DynaStashER and also made of Bocote. One side effect of the titanium body is that it’s not magnetic, which I was kind of disappointed by; it rolls easily if I place it flat on the table and I have found many times when it would be nice it I could stick it to the magnet.. What I really, really love is using this tool for shatter. It has an amazing shape that makes it feel like a glass breaker, and cuts through brittle shatter with ease. What I don’t like is trying to deal with any other kinds of concentrate. Wax/sugar/budder and pull and snap both really don’t like this tool very much. I’ve been able to get it to work, simply because I like having as few tools out at a time as possible, but I’d prefer if there was maybe a reversible head to the tool, or a few to swap between based on what I am carrying. That complaint isn’t very significant and I imagine offering new tool shapes is something George can easily do, so I’d be excited to see this offered in the future.
Since there’s not a great time to mention it, I’ll talk about the magnet. It’s slightly weaker than I would like it to be, when my Vapcap freshly chirps cold, it won’t hold on tight enough to pull the cap off by itself (I can get it 90% off of the tip, but not all the way). After a few more seconds though all the metal contracts again and it slips off fully, so, no big deal, just an exercise in patience. Let me just say that, if you use a Vapcap and don’t have a magnet of some kind, you really should. You only have to use a Vapcap like, 2 or maybe 3 times to really want a magnet and the DynaStashER is one of the most elegant, complete ways to solve that problem. But, even if you don’t pull the trigger on the stash, DO get a magnet of some kind.
Having said all those nice things, there’s not a ton left to say. The only other major piece is the extract reservoir. This was not my favorite when I first used it, but, it very quickly grew on me. My reservoir is extremely gummy, like a NoGoo but even more floppy, all around. In fact, the lid bottom and top feels thinner than the walls. Even when moving it into and out of the storage hole, sometimes I would pinch concentrate between my fingers trying to grip the container. It took a little bit of touch and feel to keep that from happening again, and to learn where to place pressure, but now I love having a super gummy container. Especially with pull and snap, or really hard shatter that likes to shoot everywhere. I can bend the mouth of the container around my tool, or use it to grip on to little shards of slab while I pull away with my tool. For the first week I swore I was going to replace it with something more rigid but I never did. If it wasn’t for the wooden body of the DynaStashER I would never trust this container, but, it has been even more crush and leak-proof than any other silicon I have simply because it’s surrounded by form fitted Bocote. This is the only thing I trust to travel with concentrate now, simply because I know it won’t deform and start letting things in or out in any way. I can’t stress how big of a game changer this has been, especially since the Vapcap is the best mobile concentrate tool I’ve ever used (I have an alpha centuri, a kiln, and some KISS carts). If you disc golf, buy the DynaStashER, don’t even hesitate.
Otherwise, this works exactly like a dugout. I plan on picking up shorty bodies for my Ti so that I can store it with the mouthpiece on, but that’s more of a preference for your Vapcap and has nothing to do with the DynaStashER. Keeping flower on hand as a wadding to catch melting concentrate is basically the main function for having both the dry storage dugout and the concentrate silicon. It works extremely well for that specific function and basically replaces any non-session vaping I have been doing over the last 6 weeks. I usually rock something like 0.2 or 0.3 chips in the container and that will last me all day, sometimes two depending on if I break out my session vape in the afternoon.
I hope this review has been helpful. Like I said, I’ve been driving the Ti Woody with a DynaStashER for about 6 weeks so I have put a lot of miles on the whole unit, including my Ti. I’m happy to answer any questions. I also plan on taking some photos soon so keep an eye out for those.
