ok ... did a little research ... and looks like I'll be able to build a Windows 8.1 app when I have the time ... I'll see what I can do ... (earlier versions don't have the Bluetooth LE API's ... could maybe support Windows 8, but Windows 7 would require code to be device specific for every different Bluetooth LE device which is definitely not feasible ...)

what are you thinking of adding in the future? how about a fading desktop notification "your crafty is now ready to hit" when it reaches temperature.

So as it turns out after only 4 sessions I opened the cooling chamber and more brown vaped flowers were stuck in the chamber but not nearly as much as last time. Nobody else finds any leaked in the chamber? I mean what can UR be? I grind it with the grinder they provide and it's as grinded as I can get it. Am I pulling too hard?

I've never used the coarse screen in the cooling chamber ... when I received my unit I immediately installed a fine screen in the cooling chamber before use ... might be something you want to consider.

Great. The more supported platforms the better.

A few tips:
- Temperatures are all integers representing ºC * 10 (i.e. 190.4 is read or written as 1904)
- If you screw something up in testing reset the vape and everything will work again (or at least I have had good experience with that
- There is nothing stopping you from "overclocking" your vape. Be careful. I added an check that will auto change the set temp to 180C and the boost to 0 if the temp goes over 250C to prevent my app from getting people in a bad state.
- While that Vape.m file is very closely tied to Apple's Bluetooth stack it's probably generic enough to be of some use to you. This is where I do all the reading of values.

Also, limit your communications with the device as much as you can get away with or else there will be a very long delay between changing the temp in your app and having it register with the vape and there will be a hit to battery life. This was the first bluetooth development I've done, that was the biggest lesson I learned.

Let me know if you run into any issues or wanted any clarifications on anything in my code.

I'm not sure if it was this thread or the mighty, but someone mentioned using a elb cap for a smaller bowl size. My question for whoever made that, statement is what size load in the cap gets thick clouds and how many hits do you get out of say .09

That was me.

I'd reccomend letting the unit heat up, pack the elb, when the unit is at temperature, drop the elb in. I go straight to 375F and get 2-3 solid rips, boost into 400+ for one more. I'm designing a little mod for this thing now where I'm going to use a .5inch diameter piece of borosilicate tube, and some stainless screen material. Basically a built in ELB cap.

All it's going to be doing is making the Crafty's bowl taller and narrower, so kind of like the ELB. I think when it's spread out too thin, Crafty consumes pretty quick.

What I've been doing lately that's flooring me is using about .3g ground up w a 2piece SCS. Dump half into the ELB and rip it through the EVO, massive cloud. Dump that out, replenish new greens face down first, add the others.

Rip the EVO again for a total of two massive clouds, warm up the Crafty; dump that stuff into the crafty, rather than using an oil pad, I used some other stainless screen I had laying around and tamped it with the orange Crafty pick, more pleasant than the oil pad imo.

Vaped it in the Crafty for another 3-4 solid vapor draws, and I am still cooked.

I was never good at getting dark brown ABV with the EVO. I just heat it up, rip it when it's scorching and get the thickest vapor I know of. The Crafty kept that shit going and milked the life out of it.

Was gettin Crafty w the lady and we had some ABV that was a scary shade of brown. It was the most desaturated color, the life was totally gone of it; not black tho; scary dead paltry brown.

kimura, interesting handle, do you do juijitsu? Masahiko Kimura was one of japans greatest judo fighters of all time. He was challenged to a fight by a brazilian gracie dude that was half his size. In the fight, the japanese guy quickly threw the gracie and put him in an arm lock. that arm lock has been called a kimura ever since.

yes, I do practice jiu-jitsu and have enjoyed practicing judo in the past. reverse ude-garami / aka the "kimura" is actually a shoulder lock ;)

back on topic, here's some crafty convection. I don't usually use it like this but it works great:

The finer screen they give you for the heating chamber is the same exact size and I didn't even realize. I wonder why they didn't put that one only in the first place. Maybe it's more restricted and it pulls better with the bigger holes?

I tried it all ways: stock, fine screen, and oil pad.

The oil pad kept the cooling chamber free of all debris but still had the same oil build up. There is a bit of restriction that did impact the experience a bit so I went back to stock. The slight difference in pull and taste were the main factors.

Also, I've gotten to the point where I don't even use a grinder anymore. I tried finally dusted with my coffee grinder to coarse grind from a manual grinder and it seems like the taste remains longer when it's a whole nug. Huge help in keeping the cooler debris free...

So your saying it does restrict the way it pulls with the finer screen? Or are you talking about the oil pad? And can you get the same clouds with bud that isn't as finely broken up? I feel like some of the thc won't vaporize because all the surface area of the bud isn't exposed to heat

My experience is the finer grind the quicker the session and also denser vapor production. Im a proponent of the oil pad to serve as a primary filter for the cooling chamber as well as keeping the load tamped in place. Air flow does restrict some.

YMMV but I get great results with short sessions. 6-7 mins.

So you use the oil pad to stop bud from getting into the cooling chamber? Does it alter the taste or cloud production at all?
Because then I will never use it. I want maximum clouds all the time. I'm a smoker not a vaper. I really only got the crafty because it's the ONLY portable that actually
medicates me with flowers when I'm not combusting in a bong or joint. Is the consesus that there is no way to stop finely ground bud from getting into the chamber besides using the oil pad? I wouldn't have expected any bud to leak through based on S & B quality, it's kind of dissapointing that the grinder they provide allows material to leak through into the cooling chamber.

The best part about the crafty is the ability to vape oil and flowers at the same time! It's amazing, I made a quadruple salad; 2 different strains of bud grinded up as first layer, then 2 different types of oil, one crumble and one shatter, then to top off the sandwich I put another layer of buds on top instead of the oil pad. Heavenly bliss! :-)

Here's quite a few sesh worth. The black bits are Ash

I have place the same image under different backgrounds black and white to compare the effect

This was taken under halogen light, which I have then adjusted to match the real thing but this is also done under halogen light (my vision that is). Tomorrow I'll take a pic of it again but this time under real outside light to compare ...

I dont notice a change in flavor but Im sure my oil pad is well coated with reclaim so a new oil pad may be different. Sorry I cant remember tasting anything other than herb on a fresh oilpad.

It serves a dual purpose for me. If i pack a full bowl, the fine screen works just fine keeping a
solids out of the cooling unit. The factory screen cor the cooling unit didnt work well with my grind, but sure it would work fine for a coarser grind.

Basically you have what you need to keep the cooling chamber debris free, you just have to change things to work with your material. You could also just vape whole bud and not have any debris, but I was disapponited with the vapor production that way.

I would love to, but getting large amounts of decent bud here where I live is next to impossible.

So just zip it, will ya... :nope:

Lol I don't make my own oil I wish but I don't feel like blowing up my house. I'm lucky enough to have a relative who lives in Cali send me a few grams every now and then. But that's gonna end soon because he's moving back. Then my life will be over lol!

I definitely wouldn't put nugs in there if it won't give clouds. I'll only use whatever gives the most vapor production. I wonder what storz and Bickel intended us to do. If they supplied that grinder Im sure they expect us to use it. Just wondering if they designed it so some bud will leak through or if we're doing something wrong
