I am with you. Basil is incredible. Trying to decide if I want to try the eucalyptus I happen to have hanging around.

I gave it a go with an Arizer Solo stem with a domed screen, slightly inserted in the crafty bowl with no oil pad (herb was placed in the Crafty bowl). The vapor was warmer as predicted, but seemed more thick and potent by by-passing the cooling unit. I could have been imagining an increase in vapor, but it was certainly thicker. The stem was quite warm after a dozen hits.
So now I know why the vapor was harsh. I was stuffing it to the point where you can't see the silver part of the bowl anymore. Once you learn to pack it just enough to where it's almost full and pull the right way the taste really is good
Why would packing above the silver band make it harsh? The silver band is just the part that provides the conduction heating to the bowl.
I often pack the bowl as full as it will go, above the silver band. I don't think I'd call the hits "harsh", but they definitely have the ability to make me cough. This is due to the density of the hits that are achievable. When packed that full, there is a LOT more THC ready for immediate vaporization, making the hits much more dense.
Are you sure this isn't what's happening to you?

Positive. What temp are you using to get the biggest clouds without it being too harsh ?
I'm trying to figure out the best temp and pack technique to get the biggest clouds but still taste good
Turns out i learned a lesson. By accident during a session I clicked back the piece on the cooling chamber and I guess that allows bud to escape into the chamber
Do you mean the sliding piece with the logo/holograms on it? If so, sliding it back didn't allow any more or less bud through. That piece simply locks the top and bottom halves of the cooling unit together.
If you find you're getting too much bud through, you might consider a different grind, or changing the dryness of your bud.
Another option is to use the oil pad on top, it acts as a screen too in that capacity. I've also read of a few people replacing the screen in the cooling unit with the replacement screen for the bottom of the bowl.

Glad we found the culprit because its anathema to hint at the Crafty producing anything less than flavor supreme!
Not true. If you notice when you put the cooling chamber back together it is that hologram piece that clicks together to make the two pieces stay together. If you slide it it allows the piece to slightly open and some bud will leak in. There would be absolutely no other way bud would be able to leak through.

NB: Anyway The first time I attempted to produce the Emod it was a sunday and I did not have everything on hand so I went on using a glue gun to attach the glass to the pastic, it worked for a while till it got to hot and fell away ( I have a vid showing that funny moment)
The second time after a trip to the shop where I bought some other type of JB weld (don't have it over here), on the box it said up 150° I was a little suspicious but I thought, well it must work!!, well it did till I tried to exit the mod after a hot sesh, and guess what, I was left with the glass part with the glue in my hand and the pastic still lodge in the Crafty, damn!
The thrid time, I used this product and it works great!!! It did take 3 days to be fully dried!!
Thanks for the pic. I have an extra cooling unit now so I'm gonna sacrifice one and make one of these. I notice the case on my replacement Crafty seems to have come out of the mould better than my previous one. I had little vanes breaking on my original, then the catastrophic failure, but I don't see that happening on my new one. It looks and feels a little stronger.Use JB Kwik. Mine is like new with several drops onto my garage floor, heavy usage and iso cleanings.
One of my unreinforced fins broke when using it as leverage to pry out the o-ring from around the heating chamber. It's definitely a design flaw, it will likely happen to all of the unreinforced fins eventually. They are too delicate. All four of the unreinforced vanes/fins have broken off or cracked on my mighty. It's the only design flaw I have noted. Purely cosmetic though.
Small bowls: Mission accomplished. EVO elb cap.
Smaller bowls work best when you don't spread them out so thin. My analogy would be making pancakes, the thinner they get, the faster they cook. When packing small loads: by covering the Crafy's bottom screen, it only forms a very thin layer and the heat consumes it pretty quickly.
Using this EVO elb cap, I stretched my session out to double what I have been getting.
I stir my Crafty, I know it's probably not necessary, but I just am superstitious like that, I figure I could find a few more surfaces to vape.
After my ELB cap stopped producing, I just dumped it directly into the Crafty and go into boost, that stirs it and gives one or two solid rips.
I feel great, a perfect dose for a pick me up without disabling the user. The cap fits very well, nothing is forced, the top screwed back in easily, and there's no rattle.
El Barto, can you provide a picture to explain what you are talking about? Confused to what you are referring to?One of my unreinforced fins broke when using it as leverage to pry out the o-ring from around the heating chamber.
