The hits absolutely compare with a desktop unit. I put it just a small step below my EVO, but not by much. The fact that there is that much power in a portable is impressive to me.

And both Crafty and Mighty have very comparable hits. I can't tell a difference between the two, but the Mighty's cooling unit is a little larger, giving it more time to cool the hit. So theoretically it's a little cooler, but like I said, I can't tell a real difference.

Trust me, in your situation, you WANT the Mighty. It's not that much more, and you'll be much happier in the long run. I need some stealth, it's the only reason I have a Crafty over a Mighty.
I 100% agree with @Roth ... if you don't care about stealth/portability then the Mighty is 100% the way to go ... (I love that I can carry the Crafty around in my pants pocket pre-loaded and its small and no big deal ... like a phone ... otherwise I'd want the extra battery life ... although I get 4 sessions out of the crafty the 3rd/4th sessions take a little longer for heatup time and recovery--I think--then the first two sessions ...)

Got my "fixed" Crafty back on Friday afternoon, by Saturday afternoon I was getting one use per charge and charge time was 20 min to full. Now unit won't respond unless plugged in. Got a few uses with it plugged in, but now I get a flash of red and a little yellow. Really disappointing that I got to use my unit for less then two days after getting it back from being "fixed". I sent unit in originally because the bottom was getting hot enough to not want to touch before the unit reached default temp and heat up times had gone up to around 4 minutes.

Update, just got off the phone with S&B and they are shipping me out a new Crafty in the morning and I am just supposed to send the broken one back when I get the new one. Awesome customer service doing more then I was gonna ask for.

I don't primarily use the crafty, so I'm less prone to pay attention to the small details.

But the mighty behaves in the same way in regard to vibration. Sometimes it just doesn't happen.

About the build up in the bowl can be EASIEST handled with a magic eraser and cold water. I often struggled with hard to clean stains...the magic eraser is pure magic. Once you get it clean, brushing the bowl while warm helps alot.

Also, checking the bottom screen to make sure it's not clogged, might not be a bad idea either

Mine also has the gunk build up at the top. The only thing that is working is a small peice of a magic eraser and a toothpick, it is best to do right after a session, because that build up is going to be a bitch to clean

OR you can gently clean with a safety pin and make sure you scratch nothing....because that's plastic NOT ceramic

Can you detail how you use the Magic Eraser? And is it safe?

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll admit I've never used a magic eraser nor had I heard of it before, but reading up about the melamine foam technique seems quite promissing. Here in Australia (that too Perth) I don't think we would get the Mr Clean brand, ours would be CHUX which I assume would be similar.

I'll give it a go post next session and report back how it goes. Thanks! :)

I wish they would offer this service to everyone of their customers. I am on my fourth Mighty unit and the last time it broke I asked if I could do what you did and was told no.

I had to buy an additional unit. I just can't work out why they treat some customers one way and others completely differently.

Thank you all for the reply  !, Helped me make up my mind. I'm getting the Mighty, i just been hearing to much great things about it . The crafty sounds great but I'm going for the battery life on this one and also the screen is a plus. Ordering it soon off Puffitup , Ill post back when i finally get my hands on one:science:.

@biohacker same shit different crafty...the update doesn't do anything for the heat up time (really) and the battery life is the same.

The Mighty has two of the same batteries the Crafty has, so it's essentially twice the battery life .

Do you REALLY find it to be half the battery life of the mighty?

In my expereience Once the crafty gets to two bars performance suffers greatly and the mighty goes to the end.

The crafty gets about 4 bowls for me and the mighty around 10ish, more before the update.

Yea I use a generic brand too, it's all the same, just put a few drops of cold water on and give it some elbow grease...BOOM! shit clean. Just use a qtip and iso to clean up residuals, and make sure there are no chunks in the heating unit

I put it just a small step below my EVO, but not by much.
Really??? I was hoping to buy an evo soon...i thought I would be way better...now I'm reconsidering.

Lastly, some advice would be great. I'm finding that the metal of the crafty bowl is not staying clean and some residue is building up on the metal.

Hi :)

As explained in Mighty thread, I test 2 times the rough sponge cleaning method ; I find it easy, efficient and safe

When bowl is really dirty, ISO can not clean it all :

vOpf2FK.jpg

I cut a little piece of rough sponge (no water, no heat, no product added) :

ShcjmCD.jpg

Upside down Mighty to avoid sponge dust falling in heat chamber.
I press gently on sponge with orange tool and rub the bowl's wall :

When sponge become brown/dirty I use another piece (3 pieces were used).

In 5 mn, bowl is cleaned.

At the end I use Mighty brush to clean bowl from all sponge dust.

It's an easy, efficient and safe cleaning method ;)

For safer cleaning method, you may use organic sponge.

1 - Crafty sometimes does not vibrate when it should eg when turning on, when its green and ready. Very intermittent and without a pattern I can tell. Vibrate is on in the app settings. Am using the modded App to gain access to tech page, and also the third party custom app

in the meantime my crafty behaves the same way.

both hard- and software reset does nothing to change this odd behaviour. if I boost the temp afterwards, it will vibrate again after boost temp is reached.

i don´t use it with the modded app BTW. I am using both the android and IOS app to connect to my crafty via bluetooth only.

I have a Crafty on the way. I picked it based on the great reviews it has received here on FC and elsewhere. But I am now having second thoughts on whether it was the best choice for my needs.

I almost always vape alone, and I tend to take only one or two hits. Now that I have read further in depth about the Crafty, I am concerned that I will be wasting material and getting sub-par results given my needs. As I understand it, the entire bowl of material should be used in one session; this is not a vape that lends itself to taking a hit, waiting several hours or days, then taking another hit.

A few posters had some ideas of how to make this vape more micro dose friendly. One technique that seems to have a few followers is to put in a small pinch and use the liquid pad to take up the rest of the space of the bowl. I have some questions about this technique:

1. Is this just to keep the material from shifting during carrying/use? Would you still need to use the pad if you loaded the Crafty upright and kept it still while using it? How long do the pads last under such use? Are the cleanable?

2. One poster has experimented with turning the heat off half way through a hit, thus cooling the chamber so that, in theory, your material won't continue to bake afterward. If this technique works, then you could load the bowl normally and use for several days. But I have only heard one poster talk about this, and I have to wonder if enough heat will be removed to really stop the process sufficiently to avoid waste. I also have to wonder if the lack of heat during the hit will interfere with the quality and taste. So much of the positive attributes of the Crafty seem to center on the nice, steady, even heat it produces.

I guess avoiding waste and being able to have small dosage are my priorities. And in retrospect, there may be other vapes that fit that bill better. But I was so taken by the reviews and comments that I jumped in. In many ways, everything is a compromise. I am just hoping find the best techniques for my new Crafty that will help me use it the way I would like.

As always, thank you all for you thoughts and input

You can definitely load a smaller bowl then normal. Some people put the liquid pad in, but I usually don't (but I don't load small bowls all that often, either). The liquid pad helps keep things a little compacted, I'm assuming to help with some of the conductive heating that's applied through the walls of the bowl. So the hits might be a little lighter without the liquid pad added, but I imagine it will be due to the decrease of conduction heating on your herb. You can easily soak the liquid pad in ISO to clean it, not an issue.

You can also split bowls between sessions, without much degradation. There will be a slight decrease in quality of taste, but I don't find it much. In an effort to combat that, you can definitely turn the unit off immediately after finishing your hit. You can then continue to take hits on it, even after it's turned off. This in effect is cooling down your herb, so it doesn't heat anymore then needed. Continue puffing on it for a few minutes, and you should help save a great amount of your flavor.

I think with a few modified techniques, you'll be able to be quite happy with your purchase.

Good luck!

Maybe not exactly half, but pretty close to it. I don't use a Mighty nearly as much as my Crafty, but I thought I remember the Mighty slowing down a bit towards the end of its battery life too.

Really??? I was hoping to buy an evo soon...i thought I would be way better...now I'm reconsidering.

They're different beasts. I'd never want to give up my EVO. But if you're comparing strictly in terms of complete extraction, taste, and hit size, I feel they are comparable. I would give the slight edge to the EVO in taste and hit size though, extraction being fairly equal between the two.

You can really milk up a bong load with the EVO, but you can get some monster hits with the Crafty/Mighty as well. And the taste is definitely better in the EVO, but it's not leaps and bounds ahead.

I only use the Crafty when I'm out and about, if I'm at home, the EVO is on and ready and go. I like to take long session vapes and enjoy it. The EVO (or any desktop) allows that since you don't have a battery to worry about. It's also much better if you have more then 1 person. I find the Crafty to be best as a 1 or maybe 2 person vape. The EVO can keep a giant crowd stoned to the bone without flinching.

And then you have to consider the EVO's ability for concentrates too. The Crafty doesn't even come close there. I never bother using concentrates in my Crafty, not worth it. The EVO's basically like a torchless nail, just using hot air and glass to dab with.

So comparable in certain aspects, but very different in others. I still love my EVO and would likely purchase another quickly if something ever happened to this one.

I prefer smaller loads too. I started by using the pad and didn't care for it. Based on recommendations here, I now use a screen cut halfway (to make a better fit; I ended up cutting a wedge out. Others have referred to it as pac man). This works just fine. I think that will work for you too.

I think you'll really like the Crafty, but if you haven't already found it, I suggest you read the grasshopper thread. That Vape isn't out yet, but is convection and sounds perfect for 1-2 hits at a time. I'm a believer!

Thank you for the replies. I just tried doing a search of pac man, but I get an error message about too short/too common. If you could point me to a discussion of making one, I would be very grateful.

Mr. Me2, what was it about using the liquid pad that you didn't care for?

Again, thank you all.

In an effort to get around the limited search capabilities of this forum, you can search in google and add "site:fuckcombustion.com" to your search. This will limit google's searches to strictly this forum.

Re: pac man, just take a regular size screen and cut into it halfway. Then grab each side of the cut and make like pac man is biting. It will cause the screen to get smaller and creat a dome shape. That will help you fit it to the size of the oven and create a spacer. I did that and then just cut away the excess. I hope that's clear.

The pad starts to pull apart and product gets stuck in it. I was also concerned the pad impacted airflow. For those reasons, I prefer using a cut screen. But I think you should try both methods.

Still no luck. All that comes up is Mr. Me2's reference and one other one that is not very on point. Is there another name for it?

Do you put the material between the two screens, like a sandwich? Or do you put it on top of the new, dome-shaped screen?

In between. Make a sandwich. Mmmmm.

Mmmm Mmmm! I am particularly fond of the old saying that a picture is worth a thousand words. Any chance you could snap a pic and post? It would be greatly appreciated, and possibly helpful to many others. Thanks so much, Mr. Me2!
