Crafty/Crafty+ by Storz & Bickel

Iv used 41 hours on my crafty and so far no problems with anything. I no longer use my LSV or other vapes as i feel the crafty gives me a better extraction and a more complete high. Iv noticed that trying to put the cooling unit on right after iv used the unit and emptied the bowl can get a bit tight. I was wondering if thats why some people are cracking their units ?. I also like to vape at maximum temp getting everything in 2 to 3 hits, this is hard on the battery which is why I now want the mighty. The service from Storz and Bickel sounds a bit cold though if you know what i mean ? they need to get on top of that.
For my mighty, after I'm done with a session, I dump the Abv and leave the cooling piece out until it cools down, then put it back together. If I'm driving, I cool it with the ac.

They replied to my email yesterday.....my email from 12/12 lmao. A month later, but better than never. They did apologize for the delay in getting back to me and confirm that they are indeed hard at work on an update to support 5.0

Update: crafty app update fixes 5.0 is out now.

Just and update S&B did respond to my email. Never answer my question but did cover how to send it back etc.
It's all good. I will get it back soon and all shiny and new. Plus I am going to look at it in a positive light, if they keep breaking on me at around 50 hour mark. I won't ever need to worry about battery replacement cost. :)

Don't forget the free cooling chamber.

As long as s&b will provide us (early adopters) good repair service I will be happy. So far I am very happy with my purchase.

Keep posting CS experiences please.

Has anyone with Android 5.0 tried to use the app yet? For some reason, my Crafty still won't connect.

S&B must be having anxiety attacks right about now. They're just not used to this. Designing a portable to work, trouble free, is a LOT more complex than designing a desktop to work and be trouble free. A lot more variables going on with portables.

I just don't think they were prepared for the amount of service issues that comes with introducing a new portable on the market, especially when they have never been in the portable market before.

But being as successful as they have been, they should have the necessary financial resources to ramp up their CS and service departments in order to properly service their customers.

Just goes to show that even old established companies WILL go through their growing pains from time to time.

I think they'd have a lot more anxiety if their MSRP was more like the Arizer Air or similarly priced portables. At the Mighty/Crafty price point, they have a lot more margin room to fund early adopter warranty claims, which can't be cheap (per user, not total claims) based on what I've been reading in this thread.

Hi,

Same for me on Nexus 4 with Android 5.0.1, I tried to remove and install it again, still won't connect...

Sorry, English is not my mother language so I could not fully understand.

It is best to remove or put the top when is still hot or cold to avoid pressure on the device?
Expect cool not make much sense, since when hot material expands, it should be easier to fit than when he retracted this, or am I wrong?

I have no doubt that their set price point factored in the costs necessary to service these vapes. I just wonder if they realized what they were really jumping into when they decided to enter the portable market. It's a whole different ball game in that portables are subject to a LOT more wear and tear than desktops. Definitely a learning opportunity.

In my opinion, I think portables will eventually take over the desktop market and as such, S&B had no choice but to enter this market if they were going to remain viable.

I'll test mine soon. Really hope it works. I can be patient for a bug fix release if they have the majority of it done.

What bums me out is I offered to sideload the apk for them and test it out. Could have saved them a little bit of embarrassment if it really doesn't work with any device.

I'm on a nexus 6 now with 5.0.1. Hopefully it works. If not I'm sure it's a small fix. Just not sure how they didn't test it first.

Hello All, I just received this little present in the mail. Needless to say I'm giddy with excitement. I've been waiting for S&B to come out with a true portable for a long time. I won't be able to test it out till later in the evening :( . I should learn to be more patient! I will definitely post my impressions.

Confirmed. 5.0 update didn't fix it for me either.

I wonder what device it is that it DID work on? I refuse to believe S&B just didn't test it.

I tried my Nexus 6. I'll try my nexus 7 when I get home.

I tried both my Moto X (2014) and Nvidia Shield Tablet and neither worked. I was so happy when I saw the update was out, but it didn't even fix the only thing it needed to fix. :(

they are providing repairs and warranty coverage from what I see here. So they are doing what they should. But it does seem bare minimum. IMO they have an attitude of " this product works so well we don't need much CS".

But like Lwien said, getting into this portable game is serious, with customers who know their s*hit and some who have had frustration finding the perfect vape experience.

It would be nice to see them open a dept to handle CS. Seems they do not have a dedicated team.

Exactly. Any manufacturer not in front of the portable market is like Microsoft not seeing the mobile revolution coming.

They will need one, as will any company hoping to compete in the portable space. Customer service is a marathon, a chance to keep a customer for a lifetime...all of these portables fail, in some number, eventually. How companies manage that will be the difference between success and failure in the portable market.

That just happened...
How long do you expect a portable vaporizer to last? I expect my iPhone to last two years until my next upgrade. Honestly if my mighty or crafty lasts two or three years I will be satisfied. Portable devices aren't held to the same longevity standards as home devices in my opinion.

As long as the warranty, at least. The FF has a five-year...so, I expect it to last five years, or they fix or replace it. That's the deal they made with me when I bought it.

My iPhone doesn't come with that deal, alas.

But if your Crafty breaks in 30 days, you expect it fixed or replaced. That's my point....it's not the vapes that break in two years that will sink unprepared manufacturers, it's the ones that break in one month. The last four pages of this thread, or any four pages of just about any other portable vape thread in FC, are glaring examples of what I'm talking about.

And in the case of the MFLB, it's warranty states that it will work for as long as I'm alive.
