I am really glad I purchased the mighty, because these two animals need full batteries to work optimally (just my opinion) and I like longer sessions. It seems like a lot more problems in the crafty thread than the mighty thread. When you add even one more variable (app on phone) that relies on a third party (your smartphone), it's just one more area you can have problems.

Bored and posted this for people on the fence between these two.
Will definitely be picking up a Mighty for home use at some point. Thanks for your input.

No problem. having a digital lcd screen is another novelty for those on the fence.

I realize that the crafty is easier to slip in ppls pockets and walk around with. That is the only plus I see for the crafty. I don't walk around with my portables to warrant a purchase of the crafty instead of the mighty. If I was a college student walking around campus or the park, the crafty may be more inconspicuous.

But I believe everyone should consider the mighty based on my analysis after reading the threads (since I never tried a crafty). I suddenly got interested in the plenty, if it is like a mighty on steroids.

I can get just as good a performance on my crafty with low batterie as i can with high battery. I just need to inhale a little bit slower on low battery but I still get those thick clouds.

So, I've had a few days with the Crafty and I have to say that it has surpassed my expectations. The vapor quality is amazing, thick, and flavorful.

My experience with portables has been limited to my Vapman, and I've tried a few of those Wispr style devices. The Crafty seems to defy convention with it's vapor production and flavor, it blows everything else out of the water. The Vapman can come close if heated just right, but it's not very consistent and is a bit too tedious for a daily user. Don't get me wrong I still love my Vapman, but the ease of the crafty is just second to none.

It also seems to hit me the hardest out of any vape I've tried. I recommend a bit of caution for inexperienced users. Not sure why...maybe it's the direct draw.

This is truly a portable Volcano, the flavor of the vapor is uncannily similar. My Volcano classic has seen 3 years of heavy use and it's still runs like the day I got it. The Classic is still my go to device for home use, but this is the perfect companion for on the go. It's very discreet, and the USB charger is a big plus for me. I had no issues with the APP on iOS 8, it's very well designed and does the trick. With that said, I've found the temps I like and don't tend to need it much. Bonus points have to go the fact that the quick start guide and instructions are on the APP in PDF format. Really cool in my books.
The packaging is classic S&B. I'm a nerd for un-boxing and their packaging is always brilliant. The instructions are very detailed and worth a read, seems like a lot of work went into just that. It sounds like I'm just raving on and on, but I can't help it, the product is just that good. Hopefully it's as robust as the Cano. Time will tell.

Here are a few pics, everyone likes pics. :) I decided to clean my solid valve for the Cano and threw a few of those pics there too... I love taking that thing apart, really cool design and machining. Thanks for reading!

Sorry if this has been posted already.

But has anyone else noticed you can store ABV 'on the go' in the base of the filling tool.

This is extremely handy for me and saves me carrying an additional container when I'm out and about.

fyi, It can hold the same amount of ABV as the top section can hold NBV.

I did notice the space, but my first thought was that it might dirty up the heating chamber faster when using it to fill up. Is it an issue for you?

I just tend to carry the S&B grinder, its compact enough and has a good bit of storage.

I brush everything regularly and so no problems.

Also I don't store any ABV in the centre circle just the outer circle of the bottom section.

Really loving this minimalistic approache to portable vaping.

That glass mp is definitely a mflb stem, I have been doing the same thing if anyone wants to try, just put a tiny ring of mflb whip on the end of a stem, fits snug....makes for a little extra cooling, but since the vapor still passes through the CU its not all glass.

@DoubleVanos I like your set up, plug-in, portable and butane...good pick for each. I always envision myself settling down with 3 perfect vapes, but with my VAS that just ain't happening.

Yo Double Vanos welcome to the club. Welcome aboard mothership well Crafted.

I'm gonna tell you this, in case you haven't been up on the thread, keep that boy clean! I see you with the cleaning and disassembly, it's a must, it's also strangely kinda fun.

When you put that top on, push down and compress the blue O-ring. Observe closely how that 1/4 of a thread catches under the Crafty body. Notice how when you press down and compress that blue-O ring, you have a lot more clearance, and there's no danger of torquing too much and unnecessarily and causing the case to split, if you just keep it reasonably clean under there and adopt the proper technique, your crafty will appreciate it and last a lot longer, promise.

So gents, ladies, I decided to plunge my Crafty into isopropyl alcohol after I dropped it in the toilet. I took the screen out of the bowl, and I inverted the Crafty, slowly lowering it (upside down) into the ISO bath.

Turned this little beauty on the wood lathe the other day, best part is it works for both of my vapes, the Cloud EVO and the Crafty. I used that to funnel hot air from the blowdryer into the case. I also use it to pack my ELB's, and I damn sure am not going to split my crafty with that filling tool, I personally think this works much better.

Welcome aboard, the only limiting factor is what you put into it. I'm finally satisfied that it's clean to vape out of, and that makes me more comfortable, for sure.

heres the things ive had the crafty for 3 days, and it is a good machine, big hits and good flavour. i have also used the mighty a few times as my friend has it. obviously the battery is a big plus. but does it perform better in any other way?

some people who have tried both say they do exactly the same thing, but i kind of noticed with the mighty the hits are a little cooler, i belive this is because of the bigger cooling unit. and also that it gets bigger clouds? maybe im wrong on that one as i use my crafty indoors where its warm, with my friends mighty we use it outside where its cold, so maybe im taking bigger draws before needing to cough since the air is so cold around me?

and will a mighty cooler work on a crafty? i might get one to test out.

I'm happy to announce that I just created the Best of the Crafty by Storz & Bickel thread based on selections nominated by @vapeppau (thanks!). I encourage all of you to nominate the best posts you've read here. Read How the "Best Of" threads work for details. vapeppau has reviewed pages 1-50 so far, and I'm grateful for that work. I'd really like to see more volunteers—yes, multiple—to review the whole thread. I bet you'd be surprised what you learn. Also, never assume that all the best posts have been found. Opinions vary, and no one is perfect. Also, please remember that this is not a fan thread. Valid criticisms and especially problem descriptions should be nominated. Thanks for your help.

It looks like it should, the increased surface area on the mighty cooler should technically cool the vapid down a tad more.

Think I'll wait for a few peeps to try this and gauge if there is actually an appreciable difference...

Is there a comprehensive list somewhere of Android phones that support the Crafty app?

Or in case someone knows if the app is combatible with a Huawei Ascend P6, do tell :).

At first I was under impression that Crafty performs best in terms of clouds with top shelf bud. However, since my OG Kush turned out more smelly then strong I found out even shwag vapes better then joints. While my buddies can't really get high rolling huge cones with this flowers, we get pretty nice effects out of one bowl, we just start on boost mode. If I were to sip on low it would be as inefficient as spliffs.

I'm more impressed with each g I vape

I'm a long time lurker and owner of a few portables and a DBV so pretty well versed. I owned a Crafty up until last Thursday and it was probably my favourite Vape. As Yetanotherusername says above this Vape turns average flowers into a beautiful experience. The draw resistance is perfect, the temp control sublime and it just seems to strip trichs for fun. The best thing about it is the high is just so pure and thrilling. It really is a must, returning to my pax feels dull in comparison through still powerful, it's hard to put a finger on It just really gets the best out of your herb. The only problem seems to be a few bugs with this first S&B portable. Mine stopped working at 15 hrs use over just two weeks. It Just started blinking green in charge and then a red flash when trying to turn on.(I had tried pass through the night before ,but had vaped two more bowls) I was heart broken but at the price point with other issues such as cracking And other bricked units, I feel I'm going to have to wait for a revision !my local head shop gave me a refund. Looks like I'll have to make do with the Air while I wait!

It seems like a lot more problems in the crafty thread than the mighty thread.

Based on the amount of posts on this forum, I would venture a guess that more Craftys have been sold than Mightys. More devices out in the wild = more opportunities for problems. I wouldn't draw any solid conclusions about which one has more problems quite yet. Especially because they are made with the same materials and function almost identically.

When you add even one more variable (app on phone) that relies on a third party (your smartphone), it's just one more area you can have problems.

From what I've read on this thread, I don't think the app has been the source of the problems regarding cases breaking, units overheating or dying. While I agree it is frustrating if you can't use the app, its a fixable software problem. Pretty sure S&B will be able to sort out the app issues for everybody.

The infamous "vape signature" as sticks calls it. Different vapes seems to produce different effects, probably due to all the variables inherent in the way devices generate heat and vapor. Or maybe it's just some magical combination of emotion and circumstance. But everybody who has used several different vapes has experienced it in some form, and I think it's part of why some of us get almost unreasonably bonded to certain devices.

And tolerance to certain devices. I notice that i can drop my tolerance down a bit with my LSV just by switching from my transfer wand to a bong and back again so I would imagine that switching vapes up may have the same actions going on..........in regards to tolerance, that is.

Fascinating stuff Vape signatures. All I can say is I miss my Crafty's signature. The firefly has a really uplifting effect but still not on the level of the crafty, its really an amazing piece of kit! Hope S&B sort out these teething problems sooner rather than later, or I'll be forced into getting another, even if it means sending it back to Germany before the 2 yr warranty is up! (I'm in the U.K) It took me at least a month to fully bond with my fly ,it was love at first toke with Crafty.

Also from the UK so makes me even more worried to hear of this issue. I had that happen when it was charging through the mains power socket, then I tried it with just the USB cable through my PC and it started to charge just fine, so was just a faulty mains adapter. Sure you have tried just the USB cable on its own but just in case. Either way hope you get it sorted soon.

Yeah I tried USB charging. The app still connected and I know I still had battery left,as I only had 1 bowl? Mangos did you get your Crafty from Shiva? Only they said they had only one other problem, and it was a faulty charger, they tried charging mine on their computer? Anyway enough negatives, I really miss my Crafty I'm sure it won't be too long before I get another. S&B Will surely tweak charging and case issues?yo Mangos keep your Crafry warm for the U.K contingent! We're only just coming out of the dark ages over here, what with our love of busting and Baccy! Cough cough.

I'm also from the UK and new to vaping having bought a Crafty just before Xmas. Have to say I'm really pleased with my new vape even though I've not been able to connect my phone to it.

Thought I should share some of my Android app connectivity issues. I have a Nexus 4 running Android 5.0.1 and it has never been able to connect to my Crafty, the new update made no difference. However, my girl friend has a Moto G running KitKat that ought to connect without a problem according to B&S but it also doesn't connect. I contracted S&B who responded very quickly with a step by step procedure to follow, which sadly made no difference.

Here are their instructions:
    • Switch off CRAFTY for 5 minutes or more.
    • Set off WLAN/Wi-Fi on your Smartphone.
    • Switch off Bluetooth on your Smartphone.
    • Switch off Smartphone and restart (with Wlan switched off).
    • Switch on Bluetooth (with Wlan switched off).
    • Open CRAFTY App, switch on CRAFTY to connect.
    • Please assure that no other BT device is connected to your smart phone.
They also said I can always return the base unit to Germany where they can run their own tests to see if it needs replacing. I reckon I will sent it back but first I need to get myself another vaporiser to fil the gap. Thinking about the Plenty but haven't decided for sure yet.
