I snagged two of those bad boys - thanks for the tip. I did look at that and thought that the pinch there will help with the problem of getting the GODAMN SCREEN TO STAY IN PLACE! I'll get the diamond file out if needed and give Heisenberg a wider a-hole!

Well, the idea is actually to use the female taper itself for a bowl here! So the 1/2" screen doesn't come to rest somewhere within the middle of the adapter's body (it will fall through then, as it's too small for that), but rather at the hight, where the female socket joins that body!
That works with the injector port of the Couchlog, as that is a plain end ss tube of ~14mm outer diameter (not a tapered joint), that'll enter only a few mm into the female socket before sealing and so leaves enough space between injector port and screen, to use the joint proper for a bowl.

See pic below:
Blue line indicates the max depth of the plain end CL injector port entering.
Red dotted line indicates the position of 1/2" screen

Nice thing is, doing it that way allows using basically each & any female 14mm adapter for a bowl, regardless of a given adapter's individual form & shape.

If, on the other hand, you want to utilize this method with a vape, that uses the tapered male 14mm ground glass joint for an injector port (maybe with one of your own ball injector vapes, you're building), the male joint would then be too long and so would leave no space for the herb 🤷‍♂️.
To make it work you'd have to shorten the male 14.5/23 injector port first to about 15mm length or a bit less.

Yeah , I get that. My injector inserts by around 10mm. Standard dewar joints are around 22mm long.

The Heisenberg piece looks about right for ANY 14mm injector if the hole is not too narrow. You could put the screen where you describe OR at the bottom if you want to roast a big load! I find a deep stack of herb tastes better than a shallow pile... and you can always finish the bowl later.

Right. With the Heisenberg piece that might well work, as it's shorter than my Weedness piece 👍
And the hole can be dealt with fast enough.

Did you find that Heisenberg adapter also on Amazon or have a link!? I'd like to try one of those myself 😁

ETA: Ah! Already found it! 😊

There are also ehle & grasscity carbon filter adapters available in EU, both in different shape than weedness adapter.

Can we take discussion of supplies for other devices to another thread? I keep thinking something useful for CL is happening.

These are useful for the CL but it could all be moved to the Injector Bowls thread. The Heisenberg find was just too epic not to share!

just added them.
Sorry for the pictures, i will update them soon.
Awesome btw!

Quick question for @Beefcake@420Eng. Now that that you have the Temperature Controller and the sleeves sold separately, do you think you might sell the heater standalone? A friend of mine was thinking of picking up another heater to go along with his other CL. Or are you ever planning to offer an option with everything but the temperature controller?

Thanks!

Is there a consensus on which type of wood has the least impact on flavor?
I've only tried Blackwood and Kingwood stems and both had no impact on the flavor. I think the most woody flavor mentioned on this thread was a burl stem, which makes sense. My guess would be Olive wood would be the most neutral, but my olive stem is glass lined, so I can't say.

Others should weigh in, but I haven't heard a lot of woody flavor complaints. Of course, if you mostly use the glass bowl you won't have any wood involved.

Fwiw, I have an olive DV stem that has a strong olive flavor, and I can taste hints of olive with my olive Vapman mouthpiece (though not the Vapman itself). Just a caveat. I can't taste the blackwood or kingwood either. I think the Oak is fairly neutral--I don't taste it with my Steamwhistle at all.

Does anyone else primarily use the CL with the 14mm injector bowl? I’m getting an uneven roast. Dark in the center and green edges. Did I get a lemon or is that just how it extracts?

What is your setting on the dial and how fast is your draw? Like a lot of pure convection vapes, you can get a darker color in the middle of you rip it faster. I don't feel like the uneven color indicates uneven extraction. I suspect if you throw that duff into another vape you will not get more vapor. However if you slow your draw, your duff will be a more even color.

I just checked and it is also happening to a lesser degree with the stem also. If I hit the same bowl multiple times the center looks almost combusted on 6 with green around the edges.

Fast or slow same result. Temp setting doesn’t appear to impact roast pattern, just how quickly it gets baked

Yeah I can force mine to look dark in the middle of I rip it hard and fast. Although at 6 it does not ever look black anywhere. Maybe you got a hot one? 7 can be spicy on mine.

I suggest you try lowering the temp. This thread has lots of examples of folks having to tune the "sweet spot" on their dial for draw and preferences.

Although most folks also report that taking a very slow steady draw events out the duff color. If you look back at posts from @Zillacon and @attackpoints there is some good guidance there. I suspect there are more but I am forgetting.

Really cool design/form factor, beautiful woodwork. My unit must have an issue unfortunately. If I go lower temp the uneven roast is even more pronounced brown/green. This occurs while drawing the slowest comfortable speed.

Yeah that could be. I have never cared about the evenness of my duff, but it sounds like yours is different. So if you vape on like 3.5 and pull slowly, you still seem some black duff?

The screen on the heater injector isn’t flat. There is an obvious bulge where balls have grouped together, maybe that could be causing it? I need to figure out how to post pics.
