@funkyjunky: I was doing some reading on ECF and I stumbled on several posts that claimed that both some batches of the evic Primo mini and batches of the VTC mini and Vtwo have the "weak battery" and/or "low battery" problem, even when using fully charged cells that work in other mods.

So in a way it's good news because it means it's probably not due to the firmware... but it's bad news if it's really some bad hardware batches.

The guys said they had to play with the buttons or power cycle to get rid of the issue like several members reported here.

Thankfully it seems to be a minor annoyance only and not a real show stopper.

Tried out some of the stems with glass screens and I really like them. I got a water adapter, medium stem with a screen, and a screenless short stem with a top hat insert. The medium stem with a glass screen has a huge bowl and the tube is wide open, no restriction. The short stem with the top hat insert makes the bowl much smaller and adds some restriction to the draw even though the tube size is the same. The water adapter works well, no complaints on the glass screen in there. I think I like the top hat sized bowl the most, I didn't need to stir it. Overall I really like them and I love having them in my toolbox to use with other stuff.

I did have a couple of small issues. All the basket screens I have don't fit. I still used it in the medium stem loose and just put the stem in upside down. Also I like the hand tear and then crush that with my hand or a stir tool after a bit and that got me a mouthful of tiny flower bits. I think you need a medium and up grind and no crushing. Also the top hat has a little space with the fit so you need to inhale so it clinks up against the ledge in the stem or tilt it so it does. Wasn't an issue for me, but could be for some people.

Again I really like them, I want a screenless medium stem to use with my top hat insert whenever that's back in stock.

never wanted to beat that one ;)
Okay guys now I know what all this thread is about.
Was doing it "wrong" the first times.
Meaning because the basket screens don't fit inside (maybe I can fix it), I was putting material inside the stem and just capped with a rimless (torn off) basket screen.
I was a little underwhelmed because it seemed that I needed way more stuff than normally.
But now I tried to put a little at the end of the stem inside the basket screen and it got 3 people baked.
This thing is efficient!
Glad I figured it out now :D

Edit: also big thanks to @Abysmal Vapor for the idea with the home made water filter. I like it very much ;)

Pic please. Every reply makes me more confused about how to pack the stem.
There are three ways I pack a lot of my 18mm glass including the tubo.

1. just a rimless screen. it can be orientated in either direction in the glass depending on how large of a load you want.

2. Just a tophat or rimmed screen. This keeps the load close to the heater and is great for microdosing.

3. An internal screen and a tophat. This is probably the one confusing you. There is an internal screen that gets pushed down into the neck stopping the herb from being sucked up. You cap the glass on the end with a tophat so that you can leave the herb very loosely packed and it can't fall out.

Hope this helps a little, sorry for the bad pics, trying to get some yard work done before the rain!

Good post bud! And gorgeous walnut Milaana in the background :brow:

I think it might be confusing when we start calling the rimmed basket screes (aka ELBs or EQ elbow screens) 'tophats'. I've only heard TopHats in conjunction with @cannabis.pro 's exclusive article. So unless I am missing something, a TopHat (bullet) is not a rimmed basket screen, but a glass insert for particular stems provided by 420edc.com (@StormyPinkness Thanks for the link: https://www.420edc.com/glassware/420edc-milaana-zion-stems-tophat)

Have a great day everyone!

The tophats you post the link to work well with the tubo either with the screened stem posted at 420edc or most 18mm stems.

Thank you for clarifying our TopHat system. I've been using this setup in the Tubo Evic regularly and am no longer grinding. I fill the TopHat about half way with a solid chunk of flowers or two if they are smaller. The other night I filled a larger TopHat almost entirely and split it with my partner. Was almost too much. We normally pass the Tubo back and forth during a cruise session. Stellar work @funkyjunky

Larger tophats? I didn't know they came in more than 1 size. Tophats are great for those who haven't tried them.

I believe he meant filled it more, as in a larger bowl, vs a half filled bowl... But I could be wrong

I have a 420edc GonG with the internal screen but no tophats. Haven't had much luck with it, but also haven't tested it too much either

While I completely agree and did go back and forth on whether to include the "top hat" moniker, I decided because I had heard it referred to and it really does look like, a top hat, to include it in "" 's and move on.

Hopefully I've not confused the issue more!

As for the proper top hats, I bought them to try in my first Mi, but they never quite got there. With the newer Mi and the Tubo, I likem! Now I have the power for the extra glass soaking! And yes, that's the new Walnut/emerald Mi in the background complements of @cannabis.pro and 420EDC.COM, it truly rocks my world!

My Tubo has turned into a great session vape and so damn versatile! With almost any glass, native, it just works. It's a great mindless vape, load, set, inhale......enjoy!

Tried again with the GonG and a blown 18mm female slightly curved glass stem from a member here (I know I still need to post more photos of my stem/screen set ups!) using a whole nug of lemon haze. Got it going pretty well, but again needed to break it up a bit to continue bc after a few hits spots get scorched leaving center uncooked if I don't... Very smooth and interesting, but since I now have a crumbled amount enough to fill three of my shallow rimmed rbt baskets with quite a bit of green -like dark frorest green when crumbled all together including the scorched spots even- I don't think it makes much practical sense over my standard grind (though that can be tedious as well) and screens/stems. I'm also not such a fan if how warm the glass can get too, seems less efficient for the heater maybe? That's why I almost always keep my bowls small and close to the tip of the glass joint, wish there was an all glass option that was like this, but still I'd have the scooby snack problem probably... I did try a tiny ungound nug in my usual bent stem tiny screen manner and it did work well though by the way

I am having issues lately with my tubo giving me a weak battery and no atomizer found message. I have not yet updated to the latest firmware. I just popped in s freshly charged battery and launched into cruise mode at 440, halfway into my first long draw I got the weak battery message and my screen flashed and forced me out of cruise mode. Anyone running into this recently? I'm noticing this across the board with all my 18650s.

Maybe they're all just showing their age around the same time? I dunno. Maybe that'll improve if I update to the latest firmware?

Mine has it too.. even with 99% fresh battery i am getting weak battery message but it rarely interrupts my cruises.. except for when i got over 200C .. which i almost never do, then i am getting thrown out of cruise almost instantly and battery gets drained like 2 times faster.. . Tomorrow or monday i should receive the RSP-4-200 power supply needed for the power adapter(replacing the battery with ac power) which is 160w 40A,if i am still getting this ,it is 100% due to the ""problematic"""batch :),if not maybe i just sucked the life out of my batteries :))..

Do you mind throwing up a link to that device? I have no qualms about using my tubo while tethered to a power supply.

It is Meanwell RSP-4-200 ahah i call i t RSP 420:D... ,i ordered it from a local led supply store, but you can check Mouser.com or some led supply store.. it costs 35-40$ ,but i got lucky and got it for 20$ cause a friend had some bonus points at their store to spare..
I use my tubo 99% at home on my WP,and i would trade battery for ac power anytime :))..

Edit: since fj and abysmal vapor said its ok, i removed the main screen covering the glass/steel tubes and dumped out A TON of old toasted, dusty, flowery and kiefy bits! Alot of stuff accumulated around the bulge on the glass joint and at the bottom. It was much easier to remove and replace the screen than i thought! will have to do this periodically now:hmm:
great that you managed to take it out and put it back in! in my experience it needs a good level of dexterity to get it back in place. i put them in when assembling the heater, not from the top, would be too stressful. i have one heater where i wasnt able to get it in to this day...of course not all heaters are exactly the same. length of female joints and boro tubes play a role here. just be aware that when you take it out that you might not get it back in. i dont take mine out.

thank you @KeroZen for reporting this issue. i dont think i have seen one from a bad batch yet. (yes the next quote might say otherwise)
i test them all with a charged battery and have a session with each. no weak battery as far as i remember. in my experience it usually starts to trigger the weak battery message when charge is around 50%. with the latest update i think it should not occure until even lower charge normally.

from reports and own experience i think the "no atomizer" error message only appears when the battery really sags below cutoffvoltage. thats when the firmware restarts but will not immediately find an atomizer and will then trigger a no atomizer.
in short: if your tubo still works and displays a resistance at the line COIL and you get a weak battery followed by no atomizer failure, your batteries are truly too weak.

i am also curious about your experiences with the power supply @Abysmal Vapor
