Thank You,
@funkyjunky, for continuing to work on improving the Tubo Evic.
Also, just wanted to point out the obvious that the eco-cruise setting works best after the device is warmed up.
It needlessly (well... not needlessly...that's what it's programmed to do...)fluctuates between "resting" temp and cruise temp when you're first getting it primed, so I'd wait until after your first cruise to activate the eco mode... otherwise you will be throwing lots of "low battery" as it rapidly jumps between those 2 temps.
At least this was my experience during the testing of this firmware... Not sure how it is now, since I've been out of testing materials since yesterday.
Cheers and enjoy cruising
@muunch, I don't know whether or not there was any change to the firmware after you tested it, but I updated to the Eco firmware this evening and it seems to work just fine. That's my entirely subjective opinion, of course.
As to the "low battery" message, I haven't seen that yet (the battery was freshly charged though), but the Cruise bar did disappear a couple of times. The latter isn't really a big deal, but I'd still like to see it go away because it's kind of annoying. As I've said before though, the Tubo works too well to let this influence me to use another device.
I tried Eco level 1, cruising at 360F, with a 10-second warmup, and got nice flavor on the first draw, with wispy vapor on the second draw. For the next two draws I set Eco to 2, and it was pumping out as much vapor as I'd want.
At this point, the Mt. Hood Magic was doing its thing, so I realized I'd better pull out some AC/DC that I've been sitting on, particularly since I've been on a T-break for about a week.
After allowing the Tubo to cool, I loaded a stem with the AC/DC. Again 360F, Eco level 2 this time, 10 second warmup, I got really good taste and felt my lungs expanding, even though I didn't expel much visible vapor. On the second draw, I already had tremendous vapor volume. The difference between the two stems (heavy vapor on 3rd draw, versus heavy vapor on 2nd draw), may be because the AC/DC was fresher than the Mt. Hood, or perhaps there was some residual heat remaining from the first stem, but whatever the reason, I was impressed. To me, it seems it's working just as well as the previous firmware.
I haven't used Eco enough to comment on the intended increase in battery life. But, tracking that's not gonna happen anyway, because I find it difficult to use the Tubo, and still be capable of, or interested in, recording statistics. Fuckstatistics, I say!
@little maggie, in a nutshell, it drops the temperature to a lower level when you're not drawing on the Tubo, and quickly ramps back up to your cruise temperature when you begin to draw again. In theory this extends battery life, as it's running at lower wattage than the previous firmware did between draws. To me, it seems this also moves the Tubo closer to being a 100% on-demand vaporizer.
