Discontinued The Grasshopper

Well it's comforting to hear that they are offering a repair even if they can't "recreate" the failure. That is a good step forward in customer relations: "We believe you".

I have a friend who after many decades is going to get back into cannabis. He has never vaped. I offered him the opportunity to borrow my Hopper (since I have two it's ) for a week, and then, my FW4 for a week. I'll be able to see how a newbie takes to both of them. I think he may like the FW4 more, actually. As easy as the Hopper is to use, it just is too finicky (see last 100 pages) for someone who isn't "inclined" to deal with the type of mothering the Hopper seems to require.

I know I'm repeating myself, but the FW4 is IMO very consistent and steady, and smoooooth. It's replaced the Hopper as my evening vape.

I love my FW4. The flavor is very good and you can hit it for a while. But, I don't think it's any easier (or more reliable) than my SS and Ti Hoppers. In fact, a newb might appreciate the GH lights as a cue.

Ppppffff...

I payed for pretty cheap shipping to hopper labs that took 6 days but the shipping rate they payed for shipping it back is beyond cheap ... I think I will send a 5 dollar bill with my next warranty service and ask them to send it at least "priority"

Edit:

NEVER MIND!!! :p

It came today and in 5 days instead of 6 days that took my express shipping from Scandinavia

Fucking hopper labs can't even let me bitch about return times :ugh:

But time for lunch followed with a hopper run :leaf:

My pyramid stand and funnel should be here by the end of the week woo!

Most expensive funnel I've ever bought but it will be worth it :)

You will find that it is WAAAY more than just worth it. Ratchett's accessories (I've got the spiral stand, charger stand, dual mini funnel, battery caps, doob tubes, leather case, mini poke/scoop tool, water tool adapter, and cleaning plugs) are so integral to my daily hopper rituals that my experience of the my hoppers would be greatly diminished without them.

GHL and Delta 3D should team up in some sort of superhero comic book-type crossover event. I'd see that blockbuster summer film with hopper firmly in hand.

Yeah, I just woke up and I'm a bit goofy.

Speaking of doob tubes, I'd love to cut down a couple of mine to 1/2 size so they can fit in Ratchett's leather case. Do any of you have suggestions on how to cut them down so as to minimize the amount of shavings that will be peeling off the edge afterwards? I want to avoid having plastic shavings getting mixed in with the tubes' contents.

@JoeMama, I too will be most interested in hearing about your friend's experience as I continue to cautiously dance around the idea of a FW4 as my convection session portable.

@JoeMama I'm itching to try a a FW4.
Any issues with the battery cover?

I'm not @JoeMama but I have had zero issues with the battery cover. If you position it properly before sliding it on, it moves easily on (and off). Personally, I'm more concerned about the upper battery terminal. It hasn't happened yet but it looks like sliding a battery in and out may loosen or break it over time.

Just noticed a crack on my backend :( A week old and I find this!!! I'm a bit sad atm...

I'm assuming it's a crack because it's not straight. Looks a lot like the crack a member had recently on their charging cable.

So I'm taking a stab and saying that bit is magnetic too? If I actually used the cable I might find it not working too well.

Hopper still performs well and I'm exclusively external charger so hopefully this is only cosmetic and doesn't deteriorate further. Hell why do we external chargers even need this bit anyway. Is it not attracting dirt to the threads?

Wow, yep, that sure looks like a crack. Glad that it still works, though! And you just found that? (ie, did you drop it or...??)...
Two words: Lifetime Warranty.

I've used mine in the airplane bathroom, a less fun twist on mile high club

Last long distance flight I was on, I'd taken some edibles. That's how I rolls.

I have knocked it a few times from leaning up against my glass. So not much of a drop but it appears to be enough to break the magnet.

My own fault :(

Old & In the Way
Just receive my adress confirmation e-mail for my SS Grasshopper and 3 extra batteries!! Order on Jan 28!
And my new Nitecore D4 is on my way too!
:brow:
Guess they're almost all caught up with the backlog. That's great!
Now they'll finally have some time to tan some hides and get to sewing up some leather sleeves. Mine is six months late. It's one of the inexplicables of the Grasshopper saga.

My Ti hopper shipped with a leather sleeve yesterday.

I'm curious to see if I get the free extra battery that was offered when I ordered, there's no mention of it in the packing list.

Not necessarily. When I got my hoppers (back in November), my invoice listed the leather sleeve as part of the shipment but it was not in the package. Now it may be that they are now indeed shipping, but I would think that GHL would be announcing that if that was the case since so many of us have been waiting for so long. Here's hoping you do indeed get yours because that's good news for the rest of us.

Yep, flown Toronto-Barcelona, Bilbao-Dubrovnik, Dubrovnik-Barcelona and return to Toronto. GH in carry on, no issues....

I have a number of times (with all 4) as well. No issues as long as in your carry on. Can't be baggage checked per airline rules.

I did use my Speak Easy 710 oil pen on the plane in my seat and restroom. Best flying ever.
