Discontinued The Grasshopper

Get one of these or the full size version:
http://delta3dstudios.com/grasshopper-mini-loading-funnel/

Or one of these for both tubes and GH:
http://delta3dstudios.com/grasshopper-doob-tube-2-in-1-funnel/

And one of these:
http://delta3dstudios.com/grasshopper-mini-spiral-stand/

Your loading problems will be over.

Glad your GH is working well. Mine also. Back end is, so far, never even really warm.

Best of luck with your new GH. Put it through a 14 mm water tool joint and you will fall in love with it all over again.

Thanks, Baron23, I did buy the doob tubes because I liked the black color (are they different than regular ones??), as well as the leather case and battery caddies. I guess the funnel will be necessary and easier to do the loading... Silly of me, because a while ago I bought the funnel for the doob tubes I had.

I have a Purr Papa bubbler, and it's swell with that, too!

Finally got my hopper today. 1 out of 3 batteries is DOA. The one hit I managed to get out of one battery was pretty nice.
I'm sure this has been asked to death, what is a good charger for hopper batteries. I have a cheap one that I think will not work properly. The dead battery was charging on it and even progressed but when I put it in the hopper I get no power.

Edit* Maybe a false alarm. Now the dead battery is working?! Man this thing is potent.

Most seem to stick to the nitecore brand, specifically the d4 or d2.

I'm using a Pila IBC for home, which is great but virtually unavailable anymore. I also have an XTAR VC2 on the way for mobile charging. It's USB, which is handy, but also significantly slower. Most of the Xtars and Nitecores have screens with stats on your battery, which would be ideal for figuring out why your batteries are misbehaving.

Hey All!

Been through lots of Vapes, always watching the hopper. I finally preordered in June, as well as jumped on a quick trade in the classifieds, and bingo, just like that, it's on its way.

I went from AA to Milaana, trying many things in between. Hoping to enjoy my new hopper, and learn how to get the most from it by digesting this thread.

Wish me luck...

I find the Grasshopper and Mi to compliment each other really well. I still use my Mi as a daily driver, but the GH gets some use at home too, usually for some big water rips.

But when I leave the house? It's the hopper, without question. I take it with me while I walk the dogs, and I'd take it with me to any event like a concert or whatever.

So does anyone know if GHL will ever make good on that Stainless Steel case? I ordered one when I ordered my hopper but obviously it's "unavailable". What gives there??

In lieu of that, does anyone have any suggestions for such a type of case, like a cigar tube, except lined with something cushy? I remember seeing it on here a while ago, but I don't remember if it was Reddit or here....

EDIT:

Hmm, this looks somewhat interesting...

Exactly my plan. Also, the Milaana takes some dedicated focus, which I love, unless I cannot give it.
Hoping hopper fits the bill here.

Dammit I missed the 420 celebrations, but they were righteous!

I don't have any cannabis and can't get any more in my city :(
Seeing those pictures made me pretty keen for my trip north to my horticulturist friend this Sunday :D

And to epically distract me from that wait, I have another imminent one lined up - just got my pre-order shipping confirmation. Eeeeeeeeeeek
I mean. *ahem* Yeah, cool

damn im green w envy...i cant compete w that...@lovecrush is all that stuff from brasil? have you ever got to compare it to the american kind of stuff people post here on FC & what are your thoughts?

Abso lutely

More people need to be savvy with the portable external charging game. It's sublime.
I don't notice much difference between wall use or powerbank use with my generic charger, it draws 1A per battery, 30-45 mins charge either way depending on how deplete (don't really push it since I have 8 batts)

I've noticed after a few months the third chamber is better off with a freshly charged.

Who knows if/when the stainless case will be available. Looks like you already ordered @Ratchett's leather case for your gh and accessories. Well done! I love mine!

If you're also looking for a solo case that holds just the gh, you may want to look at the Livescribe case. Others have it and posted pictures here. Hope this is a link... http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/the-grasshopper.18482/page-170#post-871630 (I think it's post 4241).

I have an old case for my GH, but it is no good quality. I would like to have the same kind with better quality, but I can't find this kind to buy.

The good thing on this case is, you can easely get the GH in and out. A Magnet hold this Case tight. No problem putting the GH with the silicon mouthpiese in it. Its a small Case and good for on the road.

If someone discovers a similar case, please info me.

Every day, observing how the hopper works....
The latest observation is that when the flashing red lights start, the hopper continues to work, BUT not at the same intensity.
I was able to extract more vapor from a fresh battery after having observed flashing reds during the previous use on the dying battery.

Is that consistent with Hopper's Law?

Case-

Hello, Kfirrer...

How tight is the inside of this case quoted above? I'm concerned about the hopper shaking around or even sliding up and down inside. Is there a cushion point at the bottom for the mouthpiece? I know this is really being a tad over-thought, but I'm liking the idea of having the extra battery compartment.

I will love using @Ratchett 's leather case for those times when I'll be taking more than a walk in my town for a few hours, and having something like this case above would do the trick.

The cone is nice, too: How secure is the clip tension on the case?? I know the clip is pretty strong, so I'm guessing it's pretty snug?

EDIT: New Question/Curiousity:
I get that you're not supposed to "blow" into the "oven" chamber; that there's sensitive stuff back there... But how is it that herb dust and teeny tiny particles don't filter through that screen (which looks identical in fashion to the one in the mouthpiece)? How is it that doesn't "build up" somehow and gunk up the works back there? Inquiring minds wanna know. :\

I noticed this as well. My hopper just had the flashing red lights to indicate low battery and I wasn't getting much vapor or feeling any hot air as I was taking my draw on temp 5. My bowl was almost done but had a tiny bit left, so I put in a fresh battery and pulled again on temp 5 and got a decent cloud. So to me red flashing lights means no power/hot air. So I'm really only getting about 1.8 bowls per battery.

^ I second this. Definitely notice degradation to the batteries after a few months. Still works quite well, I'd only get one bowl out of concentrates, and 1.8 sounds fair for flower. (if you're going to maximum extraction, alternatively I can go through a few chambers and then re-use the ABV)

For what it's worth:
I have received one of @Kfirrer 's 3D printed hopper cases the other day, and although I can't yet vouch for fit (my hopper and batt's are still en-route) I'm pretty happy with what's turned up.
I got a grey one, and although it doesn't have the looks of the leather cases that are available elsewhere for vapes and pens etc, it does appeal as a good design.
The size is satisfyingly small while still offering storage for the vape, herb, and a battery.
Mine came with two small 3D printed containers that fit inside the battery compartment.
One has a press-fit lid, the other a screw fit lid.
The surface finish is quite crude plastic, so don't get your hopes up for perfection, but for the asking price I can confirm that I'm perfectly happy.
The case seems strong, and very practical.
I imagine that it would protect the Hopper from all but the very worst punishment.
The threads which are on the caps are a very low pitch (presumably by design) and somewhat crude too, but again they seem to work well, and the low pitch aids strength to resist over tightening and allows the quick removal of the lids.

I bought this case because I like the design, and if my hopper fits well when it turns up I will be very happy with it.

If a more expensive version with better surface finish/fit or materials becomes available at a later date I'll probably get one of them too.

A wooden version of this case, like a dugout, would really be fantastic, but I suppose that requires a whole other tool set.

I'll be back to report on fit once my Hopper arrives.

BTW @Kfirrer , you need to get a 'manufacturer' tag or the mods will take exception to you posting regarding stuff you're selling.
Find a mod, click on their name, click on 'start a conversation' and hopefully they will be able to advise you further.

mine acts the same ... as the battery depletes (when blue lights or red lights beginn to blink) performance degrades... not that much but a fresh battery works best in my opinion... I am not a battery expert but this should be normal behaviour...

Update: After trying to wipe my USB chargers clean with iso to remove metal debris unsuccessfully lol, I finally used compressed air and just blew both charger magnets clean with an air wand.

Both worked like new again after doing this.

Still loving these hoppers.

Here is my dilemma

Got a ti hopper on preorder, saying August, but who knows. To hold me over, i jumped on a SS used.

Ti
6 batts
Sleeve
Case

SS
2 batts only

Just ordered
2 more batts

From what i'm reading on batteries, you need lots. I wish I could get my 8 extra batteries shipped before my Ti Hopper. I included that as a comment in the 2 battery order. Are they responsive, or am I just gonna have to wait until my preorder ships to get anything? If so, anyone have a couple of batts to spare? Please PM me.
Thanks fellow hoppers....

I thought batteries have a "limited" shelf life regardless whether they are used (?). For that reason, I'm not buying a lifetime supply now. I have extras, sure, but I figure I'll buy more about once a year and toss the ones that stop holding a charge.

Having said that, I get that it also depends on usage so others may be switching out batteries much more often than me. And also for those with multiple hoppers.

So far, and for me, I'm finding that 3 for each hopper is the sweet spot. I wait until 2 are drained and throw them on the d2.

How are others managing their battery life and usage?

3 per hopper is ample, unless you want to continue usage with limited charging options. I have a bunch for extended camping trips etc. but also to extend the batch lifetime by sharing the charge cycles over a larger range.

I can only charge one at a time (my external charger is broken on one slot) and I haven't found this to be a hindrance to heavy usage. At worst I have a deplete battery sitting idle for ~10mins before the charger is free to swap into.

If you are seshing with multiple people, I'd say a battery per person is what you want.
