This guy could be real, or he could be fake. His story is frankly to subtly complex for me to believe he can sell a lie that well, but hey who knows.
Now anyone could say that this is a cheap knockoff until they're blue in the face, but let's face it the design in question here has been "knocked off" twice now; once after it's original patent expired by someone who didn't for whatever reason obtain a patent on their version, and by someone who made a new version with an upgraded engine and rims that ended up being regarded as a better quality product. (Yes. I'm sure that at least one person out there still thinks along those terms regarding the MZ and the PD.)
Cars are all cars. You can name a certain type, and patent it as your own, but you can't really patent the concept of a car at this point, can you? I would guess that , assuming a patent would be given to anything of this nature, both Rick and Tom could get a patent for their product. They use different house woods, they use different heat exchanger construction, and their names are nothing alike.
As far as I see it this woodez dude is only violating the last of those things. Maybe he's an asshole, or maybe he just made a dumb mistake, similar to the "joke website" lack of foresight, but in either case he has as much credibility to the quality of his product as both Rick and Tom had before anybody posted the pictures, the reviews, the materials etc of theirs.

I know this is a forum so what right do I have to say how it's conduct should be run, but come on. In not one of the threads I've read have I encountered the kind of crap I find on other forums, that is minus the debate around this style of vaporizer. I mean...it's just a vaporizer. It's about as complex and has about as much depth at the end of the day as a hotplate. Alright maybe a little more, but not much...I don't know...I'm kinda vaked right now so I can't really think of a better comparison. I mean I've gotten attached to my genie...so maybe it has more depth...I don't know. Maybe the point of this point is that somebody could actually get attached to a hot plate.

But anyway, second the vote to have a mod delete the thread, right now it looks like it's aiming to be the successor of the one madcap made about the MZ.

I thank you for your time.
This was the funniest thing I've read all day. The out of left field-ness just got me for some reason

(And definitely put up pictures. I don't care if the innards are made of pure lead at this point, I just want some vape porn to look at  )

Well Tom, it seems that there are a few kids who don't know better, for there are some that are purchasing vapes from him. It is just beyond me why someone would want to do business with someone who has these kinds of integrity issues. I know that there are those that REALLY want a PD vape and that have absolutely no patience to wait for one, but even then, why not go for an MZ that they can get just as quick as a Woodeez? I guess maybe because they don't want any brass in the vapor path, but then they're purchasing an unknown, unproven vape from a person who has out and out lied about his business intentions which makes him suspect on EVERYTHING he states, including what he says about his vape. Makes absolutely no sense.

With the TONS and TONS of great reviews on the PD, along with many great reviews on the Zap, why anyone would want to purchase a Woodeez considering the above stated issues, is beyond me.

I guess the same people that would buy these are the exact same people who wouldn't give it a second thought to go out and purchase a cheap Chinese knock-off on Ebay without ever knowing what in the hell was inside of it and if they would EVER honor a warranty if things should go south, or even if they would ever get it after sending in their money.

If you're gonna do business with someone, do business with someone you can trust. Pretty simple concept, eh?
integrity is certainly the issue here. and with what has transpired here there is a lot to prove in that department. i'm new here but i've read a lot of the important threads on the subject. i'm perfectly content to wait however long it takes for tom to complete my pd. integrity will not be an issue with tom or his product.

SSS, you hit it right on the nail. I promise you the PD is worth waiting for, and with high level integrity and transparency being a rarity in today's consumer marketplace, it's good to see alot of you guys expressing this same kind of sentiment.

lwien is right, we really need to see some pics of the HE asap.

I think now it is a point of how he makes it, not if he makes it.
Prove to us that it is what you say it is.

I like how they're saying Tom won't have a wait list soon. But ask yourself this. If there isn't a list wouldn't you just get the one that everyone knows then???

This whole thread is a shit storm. 7 pages and there hasn't even been a picture of the damn thing. Must be real top notch if were that deep and nothing yet. And the pic of the pd on the site. Couldn't that have been changed after your first unit was done?? Fuck even a camera phone pic. He's posted on this thread multiple times. But can't snap a picture. This screams sketchy to me

I don't care that he's making these. Someone would have. Now you just have to make a product on the same level before anyone knollegeable will buy. I'm not gonna buy some jankey pos even if there is a list.

Heres pics of the heatport. Notice the lack of fins and increased mass. Also, the smaller washer second from bottom is the actual spring washer. The whole assembly is compressed in a vice and a tool I designed to allow a pin to be inserted to hold it all in place. Simalar build design, but different not only in components but in construction technique.

Sorry the pics not clear, its off a camera phone

This thread will soon be shut down. Too many bad vibes...this is not what this forum is about.

I have instructed highendvapes to, when he is ready, start a new thread for his unit just like we did for the zap. No character attacks will be permitted in that thread, only discussion about the vape. Hopefully everyone has gotten their gripes out of the way by now.

We will also be instituting some new rules just for vape manufacturers. Manufacturers will be held to a different standard than normal members. We are one of the few sites, if not the only, who allow manufacturers to come here and pimp their products, for obvious reasons. Manufacturers benefit from the free press they get here and gain financially. However, some of the worst cat fights on this site are between manufacturers. Probably the most important new rule will be something like "manufacturers cannot post in other vape specific threads unless it is to compliment them." I would appreciate it if the manufacturers on this forum can abide by this one already until we formally put out some rules.

Good luck with your product Highendvapes. One question, how much do you charge for extra stems? $8 seems like a reasonable price, if you haven't thought of one yet. I just cannot see myself paying more then $10, for a piece of plastic with a metal tip :2c:

Good Luck to you Todd. I'll be looking forward to your new thread, started by you.
And thank you Tom! I just showed Zaplady how I rubbed two holes in my fingers without even knowing it til I saw the blood, Just trying to keep up.................

I for one am just curious as to what the Eterra company thinks about all this.
They still make moxies and their new design. I think they're the real victims here.
All future proceeds of PD's, MZ's and WDZ's will go to the eterra company ;)

For over 1 year there is a 12 week+ wait list, explanations that 80+ hours a week working as fast as possible, then all of a sudden some competition from a knock-off and PD thread posts

Gonna knock the bottom out of the wait list before the kits are offered. Two reasons... Making strides in volume production...
What The Fuck?. Seems like more time spent on FC forums over the last year than building PD's?.

Who is really trustworthy? seems like lies all around to me.

A local buddy has been helping out recently, he is turning batches of bodies for me. Frees up time to make the more technical parts. I have been reluctant to bring on help, but for now, with some help I can make strides to get, the list diminished. Seems you don't know the whole story, DeepFried.

DF says,"For over 1 year there is a 12 week+ wait list" you need to check your facts, as this in un-true. Pretty sure you knew that. Have an agenda? Again...

You are also well aware of other facts, like my blindness, that is now reversed through surgery, and the surgeries required (two weeks) time off. Plus 5 days off for follow up trips to the surgeons. Two deaths in the family. An unexpected trip. Several things added up to extend our wait list. You knew all of this too. We are doing what we can to get that list back under control. And for that I get called a liar. .l..

Tom and Pammy have integrity and credibility up the wazoo. One just has to look at the long PD thread to see this. You don't get the kind of respect and following that they have by accident. You earn it by providing a great product and great customer service. The PD and their makers have earned that respect and hence, has one of the most loyal customer base of any vape manufacturer on the market.

What I have stated above is a fact. What you have stated above is nothing more than airing out dirty laundry in your longstanding distaste of a VERY successful product. I guess some people just can't stand the success of others. Jealousy? Envy? Or just a distaste of the status quo?

Last night while enjoying some tubes of fabulous "sweet nightmare" I was reflecting how in a very real way Tom and Pammy through the PD have changed my life.
Not sure if I like "sweet nightmare" as much as "sour diesel" - it's not as narcotic but it's very cerebral and up like a sativa. i'll have to A/B them a few times to come to a definitive determination.
But I digress.

After a few nights with the WDZ its time for a review .

1 } First off is the bowl size , its my first time with this size bowl and I have to say at first I was like wtf this aint gonna work ( I had gotten used to the DBV with about 1/3 of the wand full ) but after 2 or 3 stems the Woodeez gives my girl and I a nice buzz , and that is still not even close to the amount that I would load in the DBV . I did try to weigh out what a full stem is but my scale will only do 0.0 and I dumped 10 stem loads on it and was still not 0.1 , so I guess I need a better scale . After only a few days its looking like my amount per week may have been chopped in half again , I'll look into that more after I get used to it and give it a few weeks to level out .

2 } Heat up time . I was expecting a long heat up time but in a hurry I can start to get vapor after maybe 15 minutes , I have to hit it slow but it does vape . Now after 30 minutes the wood body starts to get warm and its ready for a stem . I started off hitting it real slow , like a LB , but then I woundered if I could cool it down with a hit ( like I can with the DBV ) after a few huge fast draws , yep it has no problem keeping up . That may be the first time I have had vapor choking me out like a big bong rip . :ko: :brow:

3 } Set temp , I thought I was going to have a huge problem using a vape with a preset temp , no its perfect , somehow it cooks the whole stem even with the exception of a very thin layer at the opening of the stem ( it gets a little darker ) with out needing to be stirred . I can get it to start making the ABV darker but I have to hit it about 4 times without getting vapor , I dont have a reason to do it but you can if your lookin for dark ABV .

4 } The buzz . I'm find the buzz is more like the buzz I get from my LB . Its a more stoney buzz . I'm not sure how to explain it because with the DBV I can get darker ABV , full load all evenly browned , but the buzz is still a lighter head buzz . :hmm:

5 } Waxing the wood . First time I have ever waxed wood , I like it , its very calming and I feel like I'm taking care of my Woodeez . The Woodeez Wax dont have a over powering smell and makes the wood look very nice .

6 } Todd . He has been fast on email , easy to work with and has shipped very fast . I hade some problems ( not with the WDZ ) and Todd was fast to work it out with me . I'm very happy with with my purchase , I may see about having a custom Woodeez made in the future . :brow:

And I would just like to add , Todd has in no way paid for this review , I was not given special treatment or a discount or any freebies , and I was not promised anything in the future , this is my review given under my own free will . I did buy a DBV from Todd but that was long befor I had any idea of the Woodeez , I dont know if Todd was already working on it or not but I didnt know . So when I seen that it was the same guy that shipped me the DBV in a extrem hurry cause I was in a pinch , I figure give it a try and I'm very happy that I did .

Thanks Todd and everyone for reading this .

Edit : I dropped this thing a few times and my heart dont stop everytime , it did but after a few drops I was like shit it must be able to take it .

After thought edit : Its taking me some time to figure just how to pack a stem to get a nice size load but not hard to draw through . I suck it up in the stem and I'm finding that sucking real easy then stuffing the little bit that is hanging out so its level , not to hard or its very hard to draw .

For someone who is still waiting for his PD it's kind of disappointing to learn that the body might not have been turned by the inventor.:uhoh: Guess Ive become very fond of the idea of tom building the entire thing.:(

I still aquire the wood and chop the blocks. This fellow is working from a model turned by me, he knows exactly what I want, he is an excellent wood turner. I still do 100% of the boring and assembly including electronics and finish.

We have always wanted to keep things 100% in house, but as I said above several things have put us behind schedule. This is an opportunity to get back on track without sacrificing quality or materials. When I am back on schedule I will have time to turn the bodies myself. Meantime, this is the one area I can let go and not loose any control.

I still build them. ;)
