I think the Cera LL without a latching switch is a non starter. I own one and am very disappointed that one will not be supplied. I can understand if they do not want to supply one prospectively due to liabilities real or imagined, but it is up to TET to make that decision. Whatever they decide we will have to live with. I don't think they will be taking back used units for refunds. It might lose them some orders, but it's their bed to make and sleep in. I wish them luck.

I wouldn't have ordered a Pax, if I had to hold down a button to get vapor to come out.

I agree with most everything you say, except the part above. I think they will give full refunds to those who were shipped their units before the 'decided to only ship momentary switches' policy came about. That's just an opinion, mind, I'm not part of their company or decision process. I just think 'taking the loss' would be completely in character for TV in a case like this?

At least I hope that's how they handle it.

Well the disclaimer on their policy says "unused items can be returned within 3 days" Mine is used. The Cera has made improvements over the t1 line to be sure. So it's unlikely that I would want to return mine anyway. However this vape was marketed with a latching switch as a feature. Further, it was promised that when the right switch was sourced the manufacturer would replace the switches that were shipped initially with the latching model. Free of charge. Now they are not going to do that either, and that is where the problem lies IMO...

If it were my company, I would tell customers that currently there is no latching switch option that has been sourced to meet the specifications of CERA. If and when these become available the pre order customers for the Cera LL (only) would receive the replacement latching switch at no charge. They could also offset their costs by having the pre-order customers send back their momentary switches, maybe. The EO and EL carts do not really require the latching switch. Although it could be nice as an add on. Then for every order going forward they will ship the Cera (all platforms) with the approved momentary switch. If and when the latching switches become available (and maybe they never do) they can be sold as an upgrade or accessory like it was intended for the light up switch.

They need to make a couple more videos demonstrating the new momentary switch and show folks that it does work as intended. I just think that they need to make it right for the people who ordered it with the original configuration. If they don't, then they don't. That's life. They make a good vape that works as intended. I just think you should make some kind of an adjustment for the handful that ordered based on the knowledge of that switch. That's my :2c:

I think the Cera is the only vape that will look cool even with a mod, look at OF's steampunk contraption or that velcro lingerie ppprrrrr !!
Everybody is screaming from the roof how great it will be in a few months when more things get available and cera gets modular etc, well, we're making it modular right now !
I must admit, when I recieve my cera LL I will put the batteries on the charger and meanwhile I will try OF's contraption and when I'm not bob the builder enough I'll ask my wife to make the velcro thingy just because I want my experience with the cera feel as if I'm enjoying myself more then having to "work" for it
but when I order the EO core I will be glad with the momentary switch so for me it's still win win.
by the way, I would have been one of the first people on this forum to hold the cera in my hands if the lovely customs in Belgium didn't kept the cera overthere for 3 weeks already, I'm strongly thinking to change my avatar into steelnervemanwithinfinitepatience !)

I'd like to just add my comments. I love the device, but holding that button in with my aging hands gets difficult after a while. It isn't comfortable. The EO is OK, but not the long holds for the LL. Its downright painful. If I were 20 it might not seem like a big deal, but alas, I'm far from it.

If they made a momentary switch it'd be fine, but I'd much rather it be on the side, where the slide switch was supposed to go. what ever happened to that, anyway?

    What's going here ?
No latching switch at all? That's the latest news so that sucks cause it really does suck holding the momentary switch for Long periods of time with LL cart the EO cart on the other hand starts up quick and you get results quick hold it for a bit take 4 puffs then release and it stops bUt the other cart is a who,e different story.

I wish this whole thing would have went differently for sure, its a beautiful product but the constant changes and alterations cancelations is disappointing.

I ordered my cera in the first week of december and still have not received anything. Zeki keeps telling me... next week... next week... well, no more! With the announcement the latching switch is scrapped, my decision has been made... without that switch, I really don't see the point in owning it if im only planning to use it for flowers. i sent an email late sunday night explaining why I was requesting a refund... its now end of the day monday and still have not heard a thing. Either they're scrambling to get those latching switches going again, or they're ignoring my request for my money back.... either way, good thing I charged it. I'll be calling visa first thing wednesday morning if I don't hear anything back tomorrow. C'mon TET get it together over there!!!!!!

Couldn't agree more. The fact is that it's awkward having a momentary switch on the bottom. It's slightly awkward to hold one handed and work the device. And with the amount of time needed to hold for LL production, it's flat out impractical. It seems as though this whole design was built on latching at the bottom and momentary on the side. It just makes sense that way. Very easy to hold a switch with your thumb on the side, not so much with a finger on the bottom. I'll bet that if they thought of the liability and originally decided to go momentary, the design would be very different.

There is no doubt that the Cera works great and has superior advantages over others as far as taste and vapor production, and ultimately that's what this device should be all about. But this switch deal prevents this device from being perfect.

So how in the world do I get my hands on a suitable latching switch? They must be out there and available for purchase if they've tested some. Can we be pointed in the right direction? It simply makes the LL the last vape we'll most likely need to purchase.

Yeah i was just gonna say you've gotten wonder how this no latching switch is affecting TV considering the entire design was based around it. I doubt they would have put the switch on the bottom if they knew it was not going to be latching.

I don't think the design is suited to a latching power switch no matter where they put it. Ultimately TET came to the same conclusion because that's exactly why they canned it. The design requires constant power and so is vulnerable to being left on. If it used pulse power, the latching switch would not be an issue because it would simply enable/disable the momentary power on button.

I was talking design in a purely physical aspect. It's really inconvenient to press a switch that's on the bottom of something. Seems like TV assumed it would be latching or else they wouldn't have put that switch on the bottom of the Cera?

I also agree with you that the design of constant power is not suited for a latching power switch.

    Salutations 7upstar,

It's still possible to design a bottom module with a momentary switch on the side, one which is easy to hold but would turn off as soon as the user releases his grip, for any reason... Yet i figure this wouldn't address potential issues related to long heating periods as apparently required for loose leaf vaporization.

At the moment my understanding of the Cera-LL is that the switch affair wasn't about muscle fatigue but heating for too long instead...

The easiest solution is to offer a "polished" version of OF's handle adapter to those who want it:
I think a version with a stainless wire frame could look nice & keep a slender shape if it had a handle like this:

I was thinking a detachable lever might be interesting.......

Such a scheme is, of course, very easily defeated with a rubber band or tape. TV may decide to stay clear (in fact may have made that decision already?), but it's a modular system so modifying it falls to us seems to me.......if we want it bad enough.

One perspective. Then there's the Polish folk saying "Fools seldom differ". If the shoe fits.......

This is fun, here is now I use mine for now, latching baby. I also enjoy the reduced size/weight.
The lids for the containers that hold the batteries and the carts are the exact size to fit snugly on the tail end of the cera without the switch and stay there. All that's required to complete the connection is something conductive and appropriately sized.

That solves the side switch deal I guess, but doesnt change the fact that there will be NO "always on" switch/mod to come from TET(yeah I beat dead horses...fuck PETA).
I've learned to "roll with the flow", I've been quiet round here because I've been "ok" with what has transpired since the original push for pre-sale, but this is disappointing to say the least. I firmly believe TET are good folk, I firmly believe they wish things had gone different, I believe they got ahead of themselves, I believe they will do it differently next time, I also believe most lawyers are douche bags. What I don't believe is that I will be satisfied with a momentary switch for LL use.
There's my rant, I'm off to go play with coat hangers for my new toy that arrives tomorrow.

If a side switch was an idea before, why not just make the side a momentary switch, and keep the bottom either a latching switch or have no bottom switch at all and just have SS or Ti, something to make a connection.

That way battery is always in and off. Then just click the momentary switch on the side to activate? Like how most simple portables are? Even my shitty gpen has one switch, and I've never had any sort of issues with it ever turning on when I don't want it to.

Maybe that wouldn't work in this case, but the side pin WAS originally a switch... So why couldn't that just be momentary?

EDIT: For the record, I'm not saying use SS or Ti as your connection, I don't know if those are conductive. Just basically the bottom switch, with nothing in it but solid SS or Ti, and a spring or w/e... Essentially what people are doing with the...foil.

Double EDIT: Also, the pin could still be removable so for trips you could pull it out and it wouldn't turn on...? Could stay in via another smaller pin though the pin?

I don't know, I'm no expert, you guys know more about the way this stuff REALLY works than I do, just thinking here.
