I stop spraying like 2-3 seconds after the stream goes clear. I havent used a full can for an oz yet, the closet i got was when i got just over 22% yield. I ran 42g of some poopy bud that only yielded 10%, used like 2/3 of a can.

21g Bubba Kush in 5.9-6g out... The yields with this Bubba are insane, it smells AMAZING and the dabs are deadly! Glad I grabbed a half pound of this stuff :)

Note to self... I really need a damn point scale.

Hi Weedemon, I'm back... and yes I posted about the turkey bastard I bought for a few bux:
    https://www.metro.fr/typo3temp/pics/4/7/fcc6e819cc/poire-a-sauce-inox-goupillon-ref128586.jpg
So you have to cut the needle part and drill the perfect hole for the Tane cane nozzle...and you are ready to go!

BTW I had a long discussion with Richard, the owner of Sheldon Black during the Spannabis. He confirmed he got clearly better results in terms of yield & flavor with SS vs. glass (that was already my personal opinion)! He said he thinks it is because SS gets real cold while glass stays at "ambient" temp. ... Coming from a glassblower, I think it's a valuable tip! ;)

I think I have that same turkey baster
I found that the nozzle on my tane cans fit into its end piece fine. No drilling or adapters required.

That's interesting. My glass tube most definitely gets cold. Moisture from the air condenses and freezes on the glass during the extraction, and I have to wear a glove to stop it from freezing to my hand, the same as with my steel one.

I can see that the steel will get colder quicker, but then won't it also transfer and lose that coldness without the insulating effect of glass? And how does coldness help with the actual extraction efficiency- as long as the butane is liquid will it matter? What's the thinking?

Hi Wat, I think in Richard's mind a glass extractor wall cannot be less then 5 mm, LoL... And I suppose with that thickness, the glass does not reach the lower temps we are talking about. About the effect of coldness on the extraction... I suppose it is similar to the "put your nugs in the freezer for the night before the extraction" tip, or in resume crystals and thc will be extracted much easier in a cold environment!
Please be aware those are only suppositions, no scientific proof of all that!

i've never really been into BHO runs but after seeing that i could just use a turkey baster to do it i'm a bit interested now. my knowledge about the BHO extraction set up is a bit lacking so hang with me here. with a turkey baster like that, would you remove the bulb from the turkey baster or leave it on? also, how would you filter using that? wrap a coffee filter outside around the tip?

i only do ABV reclaims a few times a year and don't have much ABV each time, probably about 20-30 grams so i feel like if i can get this turkey baster made to use extractions i might start using butane instead of ISO.

lastly, if someone could post up a step by step tutorial or a video on the proper way to do a BHO run i would greatly appreciate it. i only find bits and pieces of the method throughout threads and haven't been able to find a quality thorough tutorial.

Definitely take off the rubber bulb.

You can just wrap 1-2 coffee filters to the bottom, held together most simply using rubber bands

I think you are imagining using ht baster upside down. you will over the wide end with the filter and this will me aimed downwards into your dish, and the can pf butane goes in the narrow end

the guide you want is here:

thanks for the fast responses SD_haze and weedemon!

and yes you are right, i was imagining using the baster upside down  makes much more sense now. i think once this school year is over i'll definitely be considering doing a BHO run. truthfully, weedemon, the talk about how pure and quality of the extractions you have with your refined technique are the reason why i've been considering this lately

i want some glass of my own

that's great im glad to hear others are venturing off into the wonderful world of concentrates also :) I nearly gave up herbs last summer when I found how to make bho. and it's just continued to be a learning experience. :)
Wish I could sample the stuff they are making in Colorado / Cali :D my homebrew is probably not as good as the stuff they make in lab grade environments.

I think it would be an amazing job making bho for a living! :D

any q's and i'd be happy to help ya out :)

please do be safe about it. I'd hate to hear someone tried something casue i said it was worth it and then hurt themselves. do the run and the initial evaporation outside in a well ventilated area with no source of spark or flame near by.

i actually just bit the bullet on a tamisium due to safety concerns. just got new neighbors who are out all the time. plus i'm in the nw so it rains here a lot. i know, i know, a crap load of money. is it worth it? only time will tell. i like the reclaim and safety features, tho. am gonna do some test runs on some schwag and build up some good data before i go full bore.

i am actually watching a great vid right now
i went w/ the deluxe 2 oz w/ pressure check and bag. w/shipping and all it was about 1650. there is a thread in here on the tamisium that i'll be giving updates on.
EDIT - i have been on the fence for over a year and a half and it was just time. prices will only go up.

All of this talk about the Tami is really intriguing! It seems like an awesome tool really, to be able to safely extract indoors.

Not to get off topic, but maybe more back on topic; here are some pics from my last couple runs.

\/ White Russian \/ Taffy like consistency, easy to dab/work with. stretches forever if pulled slowly, yet snaps when pulled quickly. can't remember my return, but it was 7g in and probably around 18% between the two washes.

\/ Great White Shark \/ 7g in 1.4 out (.6 first wash, .8 second wash) Hard candy/Shatter consistency, malleable after being warmed up; this goes for both the first and second wash.

\/ AK 47 \/ 7g in 1.3 out (.6 first wash, .7 second wash) First wash is the same Hard candy/Shatter consistency as the GWS, but the second wash is a more taffy like consistency.

Yeah, I've thought about it this winter a few times! The taste and smell are getting better each time, or maybe I'm liking my strain choice better each time...not really sure.

I have had BHO, but now being more knowledgeable of oil, I'm sure it was under purged, and of inferior quality (not fully filtered, etc) I'm sure what I'm making is nothing all that amazing, but it beats the crap out of anything I've ever had before. Our state law won't allow dispensaries to make oils yet, and no one on the street has half a brain.
